mar'sel at Terranea Resort
Set overlooking the Pacific Ocean with stunning views, mar'sel offers the ideal location for an elegant dinner or seasonal Sunday brunch. Located just south of Los Angeles on the verdant Palos Verdes Peninsula, mar'sel (a play on the Spanish word for sea, mar and the French word for salt, sel) offers a decidedly inventive twist on California cuisine. With a seasonally rotating fine dining menu that features locally sourced ingredients (citrus and herbs from the resort's grounds, hand-ground chocolate, farm-fresh eggs), as well as playful takes on culinary favorites, mar'sel combines approachable luxury with a breathtaking setting perfect for every palate.

As always very good food and service. As we are in this not so normal time they made as feel safe.
Best Birthday Brunch! Everything was perfect! The staff greeted us warmly,, drove us to the restaurant in a golf cart from the entrance. We were seated on a beautiful terrace with a gorgeous view. The food was absolutely excellent and cooked perfectly. Special thanks to Mario and Roberto and the Mar'sel staff for making my birthday special. You can count on us all to come back!
Food was disappointing.
I have been to Marsel numerous times and each time the service, food and ambiance is absolutely magical! 1000% reccomend this restaurant and resort!
I absolutely adore this restaurant. Not only is the food amazing but the staff is so kind and attentive. I try to do a small getaway at Terranea a few times a year and I always make sure I get a dinner at Mar'sel on the books. Anything you order will be amazing and if you have the space in your tummy and the time, make sure to stay and end the evening with a wonderful cheese plate.
Service was wonderful, food was incredible, and the ambiance was perfect.
The service was great and so was the view. I was expecting overcharged basic food but the food was surprisingly good too. Their portion is pretty generous too.
Our first time - was looking for something special to celebrate our daughter’s birthday - it was outstanding
Food was great. Staff was great. All seating was outside.
Great experience despite COVID restrictions. Just be ready to pay big $$$
We had a wonderful dinner at mar'sel... the food was excellent and you can't beat the view! Jeffrey took care of us and he was so sweet and attentive... we'll be back!
Considering the current Covid conditions, Mar’sel gave us the same experience we’re used to in ‘normal’ times! Everything was exceptional. Timing between courses is very important to us, especially given the time of our reservation (5:45) and desire to appreciate the incredible view. Plenty of time to enjoy the meal and wonderful view.
Although we typically only come here for special occasions, this did not disappoint! We’ve been privileged to have Jeffrey as our waiter before and delighted that he was again tonight . Fabulous service - thanks Jeffrey!!
Morrie and Cheryln Rice
We went here for our 25th wedding anniversary, both mine n my wife’s dishes were delicious. Although it started to get a bit cold n breezy with the heaters it was still comfortable. The waiters were very attentive and were there when we needed something. At the end of the evening we were surprised with a free desert for our anniversary. My wife n I really both really enjoyed our dinner here and will most likely come again another time.
wondering evening - service, food and view was all perfect. will definitely come again
Weren’t notified it was a special preset Labor Day menu
We dined over Labor Day weekend so it was a price fix menu. While the food was good, it is definitely overpriced and the menu was basically their normal menu, just price fix. Unfortunately, this is really the only fine dining experience at Terrenea. If there were better options close to the resort, I would recommend them. We thought the other casual restaurants on site had better food and more options.
I mentioned that it was a birthday dinner but the host had no time to entertain us. They forgot to give us napkins and cutlery. Food was below average and selection was really limited. Was so looking forward to the view but the seating was so haphazard that we would have had a better experience just walking on the path. It wasn’t the birthday dinner I expected at all. I did enjoy the drive to the resort.
We had an absolutely wonderful evening dining at mar'sel. This was our first dinner outing since covid 19 began. The food, the view, our server Jeffrey were all top notch. You couldn't ask for more attention to health and safety standards - tables far apart, temperatures taken upon entry, gloved and masked restaurant personnel. The halibut preparation and presentation were exceptional as was the cheese board. Can't wait to return on our next visit to Terranea.
Can do better with guests seating and reservations
Recently re-opened with COVID-19 restrictions. Limited menu.
Service was great a always. Need some outdoor seating for early arrival and have a drink.

We had an amazing dinner. If you go you must ask for Jeffrey. His service is 5 star. We loved everything we ate. We had the Ribeye for 2 and some Flowers Pinot Noir- AMAZING! The best steak ever. We will be back soon.
Wonderful experience and service for my husband’s birthday during COVID. Stunning views!
Had a terrible time with our reservation requiring 2 people to call both multiple times and were on hold for 15 minutes.
Finally Aiesha (sp??) was finally able to save the date and birthday party!!!
The bacon we ordered was very poor and mostly fat and inedible. Suggest regular or thick cut bacon that’s properly cooked rather a tasty but fat rack!
Loved the service and the view!!!
This was our first foray out to a dining establishment since the pandemic closed everything down in March. Having dined at Mar'sel prior to the closure, we chose this place because of our familiarity with the restaurant and patio setting. The restaurant is especially conducive to social distancing and the staff took every precaution with masks and face shields. It was delightful to dine outside and listen to the ocean (it was 8:30 in the evening,) and look at the stars. I will say that it was more crowded than I expected it to be but the crowd thinned out fairly quickly. As usual, the food was great....we love the homemade English muffins and the passion fruit sorbet was divine. We had a great time and look forward to our next visit.
It was a spectacular dinner. Jeffrey was our waiter. I overheard another table congratulate Jeffrey on his Employee Of The Year Award. I now see why. He was a exceptional waiter he even gave us a business card to come visit him again. I can’t wait to go back! The food was great too. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
Nice experience. Even during COVID.
You can't beat the view . Romantic with an upscale vibe.
Good times, nice people, view of the ocean. Drinks as well.
What a fabulous experience! The views were incredible, the food was super tasty and the service from Michael was off the charts! Job well done Mar'sels!
Food was great and cooked to our specifications. The view wasn't as great from our back table. Service was fantastic. Ordered salad and appetizer to share before the main meal. Had filet as the main entree but it doesn't come with any sides so it always feels weird to eat meat by itself. For the price, I would appreciate a few pieces of asparagus or green beans. That's the reason I scored less than 5 stars on value.
Fantastic. Our server, Claudia, was amazing. View was great.
We enjoyed a SAFE and beautiful dinner on Saturday night. Jeffrey was our waiter and he made us feel so special. They even had a walk up temperature checker when you enter the front door. I wish all restaurants did that. mar'sel is our special spot. The service is the best I've ever had. The food is great too. We will be back soon!
I would recommend mar'sel to a friend, easily. The ambience is splendid, but can be a bit windy so windbreaks might be nice; since all outdoor dining is essential at this moment in time. The food is excellent but expect to pay. Service from our consistently fine waiter, Jeffrey, makes our returning again and again- special. His demeanor is professional, yet friendly and comfortable. I recommend mar'sel.
We were here during the initial big city shutdowns due to the 'Rona virus. We were only 1 of 2 parties in the restaurant that night, but regardless of the stress and uncertainty that the staff must have been facing, the service was so amazing. They were professional, but warm and personable at the same time.
Everything we ordered was excellent. My favorite being the dry aged new york strip. We ordered the fish of the day (salmon) for our 3 year old who I don't think came up for air until she was all done.
Nothing but high marks and praise for the service and kitchen staff at Mar'sel.
The soup was probably the best soup we’ve ever had! While my boyfriend had a lobster pasta that wasn’t the best, I had the short rib pasta that was absolutely amazing! We had a. I’ve bottle of wine but before that we had the apple smoked old fashioned which were delicious! The atmosphere is fantastic and beautiful views all around. We would have gone back every night except we were at the resort the week the Corona virus shutdown began and the restaurant closed. I definitely recommend!!
Amazing location and staff is very good but the food 🤢 Uni salad is horrible and pasta with too much butter.
