mar'sel at Terranea Resort
Engagement and celebrating our anniversary
The staff was very attentive and the food was exceptional. I will definitely recommend this restaurant.
Ordered med rare filet which was medium. A restaurant like mar sel should cook according to order.
Disappointing. The prices are high even for a resort. We had a lovely bottle of wine we brought and were charged $40 for corkage. Normally we pay $25 at high-end places. Good is simple with over-inflated descriptions. Note: you only get the protein with NO sides! Beef starts at $54 and goes up and nothing but meat on the plate. Not even the sauce! I had to ask for the Bordelaise sauce. Started with the tomato and burrata salad but found it bland. Hoping with so many homegrown foods that the tomatoes would have flavor.
Meal was over $450 for 4 ppl with no alcohol!
Service was fair, friendly but not punctual.
Views are tremendous. Sunsets and moon rise. Best in LA.
What a wonderful dining experience. The combo of good foods and amazingly beautiful view, definitely worth a try. Highly recommend.
A wonderful evening. The food was amazing and so fresh. The vegetables were delicious! Great service, bartender and the view is priceless
The food was outstanding as was the service. First class all the way.
It was a birthday dinner. The white truffles and pasta was better than Spago’s last week and $65 cheaper. Bartender accepted my own recipe of a Patron’s Old Fashion.. wonderful. Jeffrey our server was the best again for our party of six.
Near perfect experience celebrating a birthday. The Pre Fix menu was outstanding, the wine pairing excellent. Wait staff was attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. Mar sel remains our local gem go-to for special dining.
Lovely evening. Food was excellent. Service was attentive without being smothering. Corkage fee is too high.
Our waitress, Claudia, was absolutely amazing. Very sweet and attentive!
Great ambiance and a variety of healthy options! Good timing on the service and very accommodating to menu modifications. Perfect place to celebrate special events.
It was amazing
We cannot say enough things about this fabulous restaurant. Michael took great care of us. We loved everything about it and the location can’t be beat. Dining al fresco for our birthday dinner was the perfect end to a perfect weekend.
Likely the most fabulous views in SoCal. We have dinner here every couple of months but have yet to have a dinner we raved about. Food is fussy, combining, at times, too many ingredients. Also the chef does not seem to pay attention to how you want your selection cooked - my husbands pork was well done and dry and my salmon was slightly raw in the middle. However, the wait staff (ALL the staff) are extremely accommodating and welcoming providing top notch service. Will we continue to dine at Mar'sel, ?? Absolutely!!
Absolutely beautiful and perfect way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary!
Our wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. The atmosphere was amazing - we sat outside overlooking the ocean - and the food was wonderful. We had the scallops and that was delicious. The filet was perfectly cooked at rare plus.
Our server, Jeffrey, was delightful from beginning to end - taking our picture with the sunset, splitting our meals and drinks as needed, servicing our every need - which made our anniversary a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Will definitely come back again and recommend to our friends. Thanks again!
Beautiful setting w/ ocean view. Attentive service. Decent but limited brunch menu.
Delicious food, great ambience and views. We had amazing services as well.
Hands down the most romantic restaurant in the Los Angeles area. Amazing views, great food and professional staff.
Great meal and Lovely ambience
The setting is amazing! Gorgeous location and view. Service was as good as it can be. The restaurant is expensive but worth it for the quality of food and location.
Jeffrey was the best server! He was attentive and catered to what we needed. He made our experience at the restaurant that much better.
Andrew and Melanie
Excellent food and the waiters were the best, attentive without being obtrusive, knowledge about the food and seemed to be genuinely enjoying what they were doing
Outstanding views and the overpriced average quality food you'd expect from a big resort. The service was good but a little erratic. It's a nice place to sit and watch the peaceful view as long as you remember you are paying for the real estate and not the meal.
We came to Mar'sel to celebrate my boyfriends 40th birthday. The service was impeccable. Every single staff member was accommodating and attentive. They made our visit there magical and truly special. The restaurants atmosphere is very romantic with sweeping views of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, ocean and mountainside. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The hotel itself is very beautiful and has many activities to suit individual needs. There is musical entertainment everywhere. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family or for anyone who wants to celebrate a special event.
We dined at Marsel to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary . It was our second experience. Our first time here was almost 10 years ago when they first opened. It took us awhile to get back to Marsel because in its heydey a reservation had to be made weeks in advance. Now you can a reservation the day you want to dine. There is a reason for that- it has declined significantly. I had heard from a few locals that the food is not what it used to be but we wanted to try it ourselves. We had the artichoke entree as an appetizer- honestly it was cold (maybe it was supposed to be ), very crunchy like it was raw and no flavor.. We should have sent it back . My husband had the lobster pappardelle which our waiter said was the specialty . It was fine and edible but not worthy of the $39 price of a supposedly 5 star restaurant. I had the branzino , which was the best thing we had that night- other than the incredible view. We live nearby so we would love to come back but sadly it is not worth it.
Came here during our mini-moon and had the perfect meal. We were greeted with warmth and that never left during our dinner.
The bread and butter was perfection. The burrata with tomatoes was out of this world - they split it for us in the kitchen and the portions were really big! Not typically the norm for a high end restaurant.
The short rib melted in your mouth and the filet mignon was extremely flavorful.
Jeffrey was a wonderful server - attentive, informative and kind.
We also got a free pot de caramel dessert.
We will absolutely be back.
A very ideal venue for a special occasion - beautiful classy restaurant overlooking the ocean off of Palos verdes. The dishes were all unique and flavorful, the old fashion I ordered however tasted of Macallan and nothing else. The service was extremely attentive, in a high end way that exceeded expectations but never made you feel rushed, Jeffrey I recall was our server.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion, and worth the visit even if you are not staying at the nearby Terranea
Jeffrey and Diego were excellent servers, very attentive and knowledgeable.
In some cases, food was more unique than delicious. Pasta with room-temperature butternut purée was disappointing, did not enjoy uni. Gooseberries on cheese platter and lobster dish are decorative, not too tasty!
This is our go to spot for special occasions. Ask for Jeffrey....he is the best and will make your night awesome!
Service and food were amazing!
This is a fabulous restaurant for a special occasion. It's expensive but well worth it. Unfortunately we sat next to a table of 8 very loud gals celebrating a birthday. It interfered with our plans for a quiet, romantic dinner for my husband's birthday. We asked to be moved but the options were limited so we stayed. Just wish the manager would've asked the gals to quiet down so the other patrons could enjoy their meal.
Mar'sel made my proposal to the love of my life a stress free and perfectly orchestrated event!
I made reservations here with plans to propose to my girlfriend (now fiancé), the staff at Mar'sel facilitated all my requests for that special moment with absolute attention to detail.
Our waiters Jeffrey and Diego made sure our glasses were never empty and when that special moment came Jeffrey was at the ready taking pictures for us as requested. I really cannot compliment our waiters enough on how good a job they did in making sure this special moment was as perfect as can be.
The food is frankly speaking to die for, everything from the cheese plate to the lobster was prepared with an apparent and attentive craftsmanship. The cocktails were likewise prepared...like artwork.
A big thanks to all at Mar'sel!
The service was brilliant, the best. Food wise, oysters, scallop, steak and desert, what we had were delicious. It is very expensive restaurant but why not for a special occasion!
This place is pure magic. My wife and I had reservations for our one year anniversary. The food was impeccable, the service was friendly and prompt and helpful, and the ambiance was perfect. We spent our first night as a married couple at the Terranea resort so we were sort of primed to like the experience but our expectations were surpassed.
We had multiple appetizers (Scallops and Blackened Octopus), multiple glasses of wine, and an entree (Salmon and Lobster) each and the bill was around $260. My opinion was that it was completely worth it. We'll definitely be coming back next year :)
Great ambiance, great service, delicious food.
We had an amazing time at Mar'sel. The food was incredible and the service was second to none.
The food was absolutely delicious (snow crab eggs benedict; and omelet special). Claudia was amazing...the best waitress. Mike was friendly. My niece, who lives out of state, was stunned & so happy. "This is the best brunch I have had!" Thank you, mar'sel for showing my niece the best time!
