The meal was fantastic and worth the price - creative menu, everything sounded delicious and it was hard to decide. All courses we're beautifully presented with flavorful and fresh ingredients.
On the other hand, parking was confusing and customer service from various people around the resort wasn't great. They needed more signage for parking and to find the restaurant. Valet didn't tell us where the restaurant was, so we had to backtrack quite a distance. The valet also forgot to mention their station would be closed in an hour, so we had to wander to find the main valet at the hotel entrance. Just a couple simple things that should've been stated on our arrival.
Food, wine, and dining experience was excellent, but the hotel didn't live up to its five star reputation.
Celebtated a very close friend’s birthday. I wanted to show that they were valued in my eyes by
treating them to an over-the-top dining experience.
I expected to pay more, so the bill was not a shock.
What a relaxing birthday celebration! My friend felt very special, valued and loved on this birthday celebration.
We enjoyed a lovely evening watching the sunset set as dolphins frolicked in the ocean! Just doesn’t get any better!! Our meal was beyond amazing and our server Jeffery was the best, I’ve requested to have him the next time we dine.
The atmosphere & view are amazing. What a wonderful setting for a meal with my family. Our server, Joey, was great. The food was delicious. My lobster was scrumptious & so creatively presented. The wine was a very nice Stag's Leap chardonnay. Our daughter enjoyed one of the new seasonal cocktails that the bartender very willingly let her modify to her own taste. Great night. Highly recommend.
First and foremost, the service and view of the ocean were unbelievable and that alone would make coming to eat at mar'sel worthwhile. Parking is free if you can find a spot which is a plus and the outdoor seating overlooking the water and PV coastline with a nice umbrella shade was perfect for Sunday brunch. Our service from the hostess to the superb waiters was better than what we had received from other Michelin star rated restaurants in the past and really made the meal. As for food, the grilled lobster salad was good and had nice pieces of lobster and a great dressing. The rosemary hashbrown was also delicious and had great rosemary flavor and crunch, but the $9 price point for a hashbrown was outrageous. Most disappointing was the wagyu brisket benedict. Poached eggs and olive oil basted grilled bread were fine, and the grilled shishito peppers were also ok although they had no point of being a part of the dish. The star of the show unfortunately was dry and tough like beef jerky and was one step away from being sent back to the kitchen. For dessert, the sea salt chocolate ganache pot de creme was ok and even refreshing on the warm morning, but once again not worth the price point which I understand is inflated for the location, view and ambiance, but still hard to fathom. All in all, mar'sel was a great place to brunch at and would definitely come back again, but would not come back expecting Michelin quality food, just Michelin quality service and ambiance.
The ambiance is great for couples and the food is amazing!
Loud when we arrived and dissipated (thank god) as we dined. My food an my husbands was ok - mine to salty and I love salt! His was rosemary - in your face! Our third person said their food was very good but she thought the croutons on the crab salad was off-putting because it’s a mixed message that it could be crab shell!
Our dinner was incredible. The food was exceptionally prepared and service was better than great. For our table of six guests we had two servers who were most attentive and extremely pleasant. The highlight of our dinner was the beautiful personality of Claudia. She explained the dishes thoroughly with hints as to make the best bite of each preparation. We highly recommend this restaurant and the lovely setting of Terranea.
Service was spot on. Great progression of meal. I requested oyster course first, and course of fois gras between apps and entree and all handled perfectly. Accommodated me in bringing a special wine (checked ahead and made sure it wasn’t on their current wine menu). Corkage fee might be little steep. Always beautiful setting.
Service and ambience was exceptional. We were given a table with a spectacular view of the ocean. Even though it was chilly that evening and we were sitting outside, there were heat lamps and blankets provided. Our expectations for the meal were high given the chef and the quality of the resort. Both my husband and I had the “Forbes for Four” which was the pre fixed offered and I had it along with the wine pairing. The food looked beautiful however the taste was not great. The ribeye was very rare vs medium rare and extremely over sauced. Which unfortunately was true of most of the dishes. The amuse bouche and the desert were both good. But overall for the price, we were disappointed by the level of the meal. Sadly as a result, I would not recommend this restaurant for dining. But the wonderful view and service make it a good option for a glass of wine or cocktail to watch the sunset.
Food was extremely delicious and beautifully presented on the plate. Loved every mouthful!
We celebrated our 50th anniversary with dinner. The service [Thank You Felix] was friendly, helpful and professional. The meal was superb, from salad to entree to dessert. We met nice people at the next table and had a wonderful and memorable evening.
The service was flawless. Underwhelming entre. Small portions , big prices. Not that tasty. Just experimental. Great bread!
Travis is one of the best servers I have had the pleasure to experience. His knowledge of the menu makes it all perfect
We had a lovely dinner to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent and the setting was relaxing and lovely. If it had been a bit warmer, we would have sat outside but our seat by the window was still quite nice. Beautiful view. The service was excellent as well.
Wonderful place and vibes
It was one of the best places I have ever eaten at with unique and fresh dishes. It was a fabulous dining experience.
What an incredible place ! Spent a few days at the resort and ate at Marsel the last nite we were there. Claudia was out waiter and she took incredible care of us. She even picked up the dessert and wrote “to good health” on it as my wife was recovering from surgery. What a nice touch and thoughtful thing to do. My filet mignon was fantastic as well as the duck confit. The wife had the homemade vegetable pasta and I must say the freshness was impressive. Thank you for a wonderful evening ! Hope to see u guys again !
Food was excellent. The Service was 5 star ! A bit over priced $$, but very enjoyable.
Enjoy Claudia's attentive and professional services.
Absolutely amazing in every way a resort could be!
One of the best restaurants ever. The service was sublime
Over the top, not my favorite place for a date night.
The most amazing views . And the food was wonderful.
The beef short ribs were the best I’ve ever had in my life! The wine menu is outstanding.
Very overrated, as usual. Inconsistent kitchen, ridiculous prices for the food served. Service is generally decent and waiter knowledgeable but some big gaps between tasting courses, no flow.
Excellent food and service — but hotel prices — meaning very expensive. Great views of the ocean.
This is a fabulous place. Ocean view, creative menu, great wine list, spectacular service, innovative drinks and yummy desserts. We come to Terranea once a year, and this is a must-go place. One of the best anywhere.
This was our first time and we will definitely be back! The outdoor seating is right on the water and the views are amazing! We went in February, so it did get cold as the night went on, and they brought me a blanket! The waitress described everything to a "T" and the night was just perfect. Very quiet and everything tasted phenomenal!
Absolutely wonderful experience. Beautiful ambience and atmosphere. Delicious food - we had the snow crab salad, orichette bolognese and brazino. All recommended by our very attentive waiter Jeffrey. Great for a special occasion.
Absolutely beautiful ocean view, cosy seating, great food and fabulous service. Very expensive but well worth it for special occasions.
Awesome. Food was great and the scenery is amazing.
We were celebrating a birthday and the setting was perfect. The food was amazing and the service superb. We had a lovely dinner complete with almost a full moon!
Excellent service and management, farm to table cuisine, very well done, original dishes and fine wines to pair with the food. The very best table at Terranea's resort.
There is no better place to relax with a friend, have good food, great service and watch the full moon rise over the sea.
Good service food very mediocre. Salad not fresh fish overdone pasta dry and no flavor
Excellent food and service overall but the costs are high. Self-parking was $10.00 and prices are high for this 5 star restaurant. Our dinner for two came to $261.00
Well, I just got engaged at this great restaurant. I must compliment the service wait staff as they were outstanding! The food was on a higher level of quality and taste. The wine list, perfect! I will likely come here every year for my engagement anniversary now. I'm sure I will come more often on other occasions as well. Very happy I choose this place for a very special night.
Romantic dinner at mar'sel at at the beautiful Terranea Resort. Reception was a host of smiles and greetings through the lovely entrance with prompt seating outdoors overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This is at the top of my list for romantic restaurants, perfect for quiet, fine dining either inside the lushly appointed dining room or outside under the stars. The service was as you expect a fine dining restaurant, top-notch, very professional staff. We were seated outdoors, and the staff was quick to position heat lamps perfectly to mute the chill without affecting our view. The menu was small but with so many tempting choices it was hard to settle; there is also a tasting menu. We chose the cheese plate, sunchoke bisque, and grilled Spanish octopus paired with a nice bottle of wine. The staff brought us a chef's tasting spoon (yummy grit cake) and some of the best, most unique biscuits I've seen, paired with fresh butter and sea salt. The five cheeses were all very good and very well balanced; the cheese plate also included a nice section of breads, fruits, nuts, etc. The bisque was rich and filling. The octopus was a special highlight, perfectly prepared blackened octopus on a bed of greens, chickpeas, and ink-infused naan. Fairly expensive meal but deservedly so. Reservations highly suggested. Suggest smart dress. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for romance.
The food was excellent. I had fish and my wife had the fillet mignon. We also ordered vegetables were given homemade bread. I have never been a fan of brussels sprouts but they cooked brussels sprouts in a way that was tasty. The service was outstanding. We had two waiters available to us at various times throughout the meal. They were informative and eager to please. Great views of the ocean.
