mar'sel at Terranea Resort
What Insiders Are Saying
Very good resort food with an even better view in Palos Verdes.
Fabulous! Loved the food and service. Gorgeous view!
Jeffrey was very attentive and made excellent suggestions
The food was disappointing. The filet mignon was good but slightly over cooked for the medium we requested. The side dishes were inedible. The Peruvian potatoes were undercooked and grainy, the sauce doing nothing to help them go down. The mushroom side dish was similarly a disappointment. The mushrooms (stems?) were hard and chewy. Neither side dish was flavorful at all. By the end of the dinner experience we had no interest in attempting a dessert and were just in a hurry to leave. The “birthday treat” was cold cookies thrown on a plate. Not the level of food prep we expected for my husband’s birthday dinner.
Absolutely fabulous! Thank you for a memorable evening
We have been many times and was very happy to see they are now offering Vegan choices. The staff is very attentive and the evening sunset was beautiful. Love Mar'sel, we will be back again!
Marsel at Terranea Resort is the absolute best ocean view dining experience you can ask for. Always amazing food and always excellent service! Our favorite restaurant!
We really wanted to like Mar Sel. We were enjoying an awesome week ay Terranea Resort and wanted to treat our life long friends to a memorable dinner. Didn't happen. View was awesome and the wait staff attentive. After cocktails we ordered the scallops appetizer and the BBQ shrimp. $34 for the shrimp appetizer was excessive. We ordered two filets, the Branzino, and the Maine lobster dish. Both filets were very flavorful but over-cooked. Why can't chefs in a 5 star restaurant figure out "medium" never means medium well. The lobster was five rubbery bites of bland shellfish. The Branzino was the only premium dish. Cooked perfectly. The waiter agreed the lobster was under cooked and offered to remove it from the bill. Even after removing the $50 lobster dish, with tip the total approached $500 for the 4 of us. Based on some feedback from other members of our work group, our experience seemed the norm rather than the exception.
I took my sis in law there for dinner and we had a wonderful evening. Great views, had a bunny on the lawn in front of us keeping us company and the nicest server— Thank you Jeffrey! He was so gracious, helpful and so attentive.
Excellent food, excellent service. Our server Jeffrey was outstanding.
The service was excellent. The ambience was good. However, from a “value for money” point of view I would give it 4 stars.
Service was a little off but it is such a great place for brunch.
Great friendly staff
We just celebrated our 43rd anniversary at this lovely restaurant. Had a beautiful meal. Our waiter Jeffrey couldn't have been better. He gave us good advice on the menu, and remembered our anniversary with a yummy dessert. He was excellent; along with his helper Horacio (hope I didn't misspell it). I had the salmon and my husband had the pork chop. Both delicious. We shared the mandarin orange salad to start. This is a very special restaurant. I would highly recommend it for a special occasion.
The service is superb, the food is sublime and the ambiance is a slice of heaven imported from the Mediterranean!
A lovely evening of fine dining and building memories to last a lifetime!
Wonderful food and service was excellent! Could not have been better!
a bit salty food for sunday brunch. overall, awesome
Brunch could not have been better! The location/scenery was beautiful. The delicious food and superior service makes it stand out compared to other restaurants. A shout out to Travis, and the other staff working today. Thank you for a terrific time.
If it was haldf the price it would be a decent farm to table restaurant. There is nothing special about any of the dishes we had. The vegetable are just olive oil and sea salt. The branzino is fish without much added flavor. Even the pot de creme dessert they sais they’re “known” for was ok. It is very expensive for the quality of food. The atmospherbis noce though and our service was really the best part.
We dined at Mar’sel February 15 (we were guests at the resort) and they were still offering their valentines prix fixe. We were immediately disappointed because we’d had a horrible experience the night before at another restaurant (NOT at the Terranea resort). We decided to let it go and actually did the menu with the suggested wine pairings.
Ooooh myyyy goooood!!!!!
Well, first of all, our server Claudia was amazing. She was fun and knowledgeable and respectful of our time (we didn’t want to be rushed) and she was knowledgeable about the wines and the food she was delivering. The wine pairings were absolutely perfect for the dishes and we had wines I’d never think to try. Well, we took pictures of all those to buy again. This was without a doubt among the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. We ended our night with a scotch at the bar and had a nice time with Alex. You cannot go wrong with this place. Oh, and many chose not to do the menu and their meals looked amazing as well.
Excellent tasting menu for Valentine’s Day.
One year anniversary
Food was terrible.
Food tasted great. Service was excellent. Fairly expensive. We got to sit outside almost next to the ocean so the view was great. They were also very diligent with swapping around heat torches(?) to make sure everyone was warm enough.
Food was best we ever had there...last time was maybe 8-10 yrs ago. This time food was extraordinary! From beginning to end!
Chris was our server: exemplary!!! Truly a meal to remember!!
Love this place!!! Watch the whales sail by while eating brunch on Sunday or enjoy a lovely dinner with friends and family. Food is outstanding. Pricey but worth it.
While the service was superb, we left after appetizers because they were nothing spectacular. We had the beer tartare and a yellowtail special. The beef tartare was okay and the yellowtail had so much “stuff” on it that it overwhelmed the flavor of the fish. For a renowned restaurant, I would expect the food to be amazing and was excited to try some unique flavors, but it was just “alright” and not worth it unfortunately. They also didn’t have the red snapper on the menu, even though it was on the online menu. My husband was planning to get that but was disappointed the menu wasn’t accurate.
Love the attention to details - welcoming, introductions, menu selection assistance, tasting bonus, delicious food and great wine choices. Calm and quiet outdoor dining area - warm heaters and delightful ambiance.
Dining at Mar sel is always a special experience!
I liked the restaurant very much. Service was excellent. Foods would be much better .
Felt the service was poor. Couldn’t get our severs attention or other servers. Our came took care of whatever it was with no...gee that me fix that or sorry that happened.
Three of us have spent our birthdays there for at three years. On the way back to the car we discussed a change in venue...sad!
The food was delicious and the service was amazing. Our waiter Travis was pleasant patient and very efficient. The service he provided was excellent and I would recommend this restaurant to all of my family , friends, co-workers and church members. The view was spectacular and made celebrating my significant other's birthday just that much more special.
Another night for the ages at Mar'Sel! This time, we came for New Year's eve dinner....a five-star, five-course extravaganza! Of course, our experience was on another level thanks to our favorite server, Jeffrey - who somehow manages to make ALL of his guests (and not just us!) feel like royalty from the second they step in through the door. From the Amuse-Bouche to the Baked Alaskan dessert - everything was truly magnificent. I think we have found a new tradition of ringing in the New Year with Jeffrey and the wonderful staff at Terrenea!
It was great
Excellent service. Exceptional food. Best meal we’ve had in 10 years!
Waiter team outstanding and attentive. Best steak - special with cheese atop my spouse ordered and a vegetarian dish( I’m NOT vegetarian nor do I often order vegetarian but waiter persuaded me to!)homemade extremely fresh pasta and vegetables I loooved so much. The BEST pasta I’ve ever had- and I’m Italian and have MADE pasta often! Can’t say enough about the food and dessert excellent as well -a fresh cookie dish with mouse like parfait!
We had a wonderful night at mar’sel. Jeffrey was our server and he was superb. The food was ok but the service made up for it. Everyone that stopped by our table was so friendly. The manager even called a cart for us so we didn’t have to walk to valet. We will be back very soon!
An outstanding fine dining experience. The service was impeccable and every course was delicious, especially the fois gras on french toast. Being on a resort, the prices might be higher than comparable restaurants, but without many fine dining experiences in the area, it’s hard to compare. The views are beautiful as well. It is well worth a visit if you are looking for a higher end dining experience.
As always excellent food but very spotty service. Great waiter and bar tender. Busboys and servers need some training. At this price point they all need to pay attention.
Food and ambiance were phenomenal. The churros were awful. They would have been amazing if they didn’t put the sauce all of the churros. I am a naturalist and do not like sauce on my food. My mistake for not asking for the sauce on the side. Otherwise, solid experience. I will return.
