   Exceptional service from the valet to the waiter and manager. We felt like we were royalty. The octopus and oysters were mouthwatering. The fish was extremely fresh and cooked to perfection. Ambience was spectacular. Early Father’s Day dinner was a success.

   Is it very nice restaurant. The atmosphere is very nice and we sat outside with a view of the ocean. It was very nice to celebrate our anniversary there. However, the food was good to very good but I would not consider it. Great or excellent. And the prices were very high for the quality of the food and the quantity. Staff is very nice and they did a good job taking care of us. Based on the quality/quantity of food coupled with the price. I would give this restaurant 3 stars.

   We had a lovely anniversary dinner at mar'sel. The views were magnificent, the ambiance was quiet and romantic, and the service was excellent. The food was very good, but not outstanding, and very pricey, but the other things made up for that. I'll save this place for special occasions.

   Although a bit of a trek to get there, it's worth every bit. The resort and grounds rivals the best on the West Coast. I recently also visited The Montage in Laguna Beach and I'd say Terranea is clearly a step above. Service was the best I've seen in a long time. Great place to celebrate special occasions or weekend away. However, if you're looking for budget friendly then this is likely not your place. The value is very good but that is due to the exceptional service like no other, the resort property and good food. My recommendation is to not pay attention to how much you spend because whatever you spend is worth it.

    This is one of my favorite restaurants. I am not sure what went wrong last night but the service was not very good. I had to ask for my waiter twice. I think the problem was that he was waiting on tables outside and ours inside. Food was spectacular as always.

    We had Sunday Brunch... it was a great experience overall. However, there were a few "glitches" along the way. We ordered the Raw Bar Platter (their version of a seafood tower). It was a great value for $75, considering the seafood was very very fresh and perfectly prepared, specially the Giant Shrimp Cocktail. The crab legs & claws were already shelled and halved accordingly, so you don't have to contend with the mess of cracking. Minimal effort needed to enjoy them. Glitch #1... it took some time between that Appetizer couse before our orders were taken for the 3-course Brunch items. Then even more delay to serve the 1st course from there. The excuse was a "wave of seatings" that caused a backup in the kitchen. The dining room was not full, and it's likely that majority of the diners had reservations too. 1st course was GREAT - more of the perfect, yummy Shrimp Cocktail for my hubby. Asparagus Soup for me. Glitch #2... My main course, the Black Rice Paella was a real disappointment. Bland. Dry. Clams & Mussels were cold! The 1 shrimp was decent. I really should've sent it back. But I didn't want to wait again for another dish. To make up for my disappointment & the long wait between courses, we were given an EXTRA dessert, gratis. Would I go back? Not likely. The setting, ambience, and views were perfect. Service was GREAT! But the food left me wanting more out of it, relative to the cost (we dropped a few hundred $$$).

    Came for a brunch celebrating our engagement and the staff went above and beyond to make sure our experience was great, including writing out congratulations on both of our dessert course plates. The food was amazing and you can’t beat the view.

    The view was beautiful. Unfortunately, that’s the only positive thing I can say about the experience. The rack of lamb was only two pieces, and half was fat, so I only got a few bites of lamb. And there was a gooey glaze/sauce all over the lamb, which was not appetizing - just, why? The shishito peppers were covered in furikake, which I really like and the reason I ordered them… but not when it’s smothered all over in layers. Too much. It felt like the chef was trying too hard to be a bit different, but just didn’t know how to select quality meat or how to prepare the food. I mean, truly the lamb was a low quality meat. Worse than you’d buy at a good butcher, worse than a Gelson’s or Whole Foods… heck, it was worse than you’d buy at Ralph’s on sale. I’m not exaggerating, it was bad. But there wasn’t much lamb on the plate, so is that a positive in the end? The servers were nice. But, and not to sound like a complete Debby downer, it felt awkward at the most important times - ordering, for instance. The main server offered my dad my entree selection as if we were at a tapas restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, I love tapas. But this is not a tapas place and the menu is not meant to be tapas. It just didn’t match: the view, the food, the menu, the service, and the prices. Didn’t match. The drink was alright, but did not taste like the description of the ingredients list. The desserts on neighboring tables did not look appetizing, so only my dad had dessert but, as I thought, he did a hand wave to say meh and a half frown when I asked how it was. So, was it worth it? NO!!! I feel like I was duped by the positive reviews and amazing ratings - are they real ratings and reviews? Never again.

    Excellent dining experience. Besides the incredibly high food quality, the service was impeccable. They went out of their way to make it a special birthday dinner for my wife and comped a fabulous dessert. Steven, our server, was outstanding.     Waiter was exceptional. A rare treat. Food was fantastic except our salad arrived unwashed. My first bite was filled with sand. My John Dory fish entree was so fishy that I don’t know how the chef served it. My replacement dish was halibut And it was to die from. Absolutely one of the most delicious pieces of fish I have ever had. I’m giving the restaurant four stars because the server was out of this world, his assistant was equally fantastic. All the food, especially the cheese selection was five star the challenge was getting through a bad salad and an old piece of fish. They can do better

    I’m no stranger to upscale dining, but this experience was completely not even close to being worth the $650 that we spent for five people which included only two cocktails and three appetizers. A $20 gem lettuce salad had literally 10 small pieces of lettuce. It looked like the salad had been split four ways! The lamb that I had was a two bone chop that was half fat so I had about six bites of lamb. The service was extremely slow. It took forever to get two drinks, and I found the overall atmosphere has really gone down, we’ve been at this restaurant several times pre-Covid and it was much much better and I don’t ever remember the portions being so extremely small. Will not be going back. So not worth it.

    Not our first time and will not be our last. Eating at Mar’sel reminds one of pre-Covid days when fine dining meant excellent service and excellent food. We were greeted with beautiful smiles by the hostess, the servers and at the end by the manager. During our dinner we never had to request for additional water or wait to request a beverage or course. Everything was timed perfectly. The smoked salmon that my partner ate and the Avocado Toast I had as first courses were delicious. The Sea Bass perfectly cooked in a delicious broth adorned with pumpkin blossoms. For desert I request the chia pudding listed as a first course for brunch and the staff did not flinch to accommodate my request. If I had to make one constructive criticism, it would be that the Caipirinha should be sweeter. Otherwise *****+

    We had a lovely meal at Mar'sel. The food was very good, but also very expensive as you would expect from any restaurant on a resort of this nature. The manager was very kind to ask us about the temperature and reseated us right away when I commented that it could be a little warmer (we were near the door on a chilly evening). And at the end of the meal, they surprised us with a custom desert for our anniversary, which would have been an amazing gesture if we weren't already eager to finish up. Which brings us to.. The mark against, really, was just the rest of the service. We probably left the restaurant over an hour later than we should have, even given the relaxed pace of the meal, if the server had been attentive. He simply disappeared for very long periods of time, repeatedly. It would have been truly comical if we didn't have plans afterwards. I can only recommend Mar'sel if you have your entire evening to burn.

    This is or favorite restaurant in Palos Verdes . My Husband ordered the veal and I ordered the lobster pasta . I do wish they jars option pasta without seafood though. The service was amazing. We already have our reservation booked again.
