Marrakesh Costa Mesa Ratings and Reviews
The service was herendous. I had a table of
20 that I had reserved a month ahead to make sure that they are prepared for the occasion but as a result the service was probably and I am not exaggerating one of the worst I have seen. Note it wasn’t the servers fault as it seemed that he was serving a lot of tables but it took 30 min just to get a drink on the table .
Great food, cheaper than expected, very friendly service, and fun belly dancer. The seating is low (like, short chairs/couches) for an authentic feel. They were a bit stingy with the meat in the dishes (four shrimp for our table of five), and the bathrooms were pretty gross and need a major reno (-1 star). Very laid back even on a Friday evening. I'll be back!
We have been to the Studio City location for many times going back over 30 years and always enjoyed the food, service and entertainment. Since Studio City has been closed, we decided to try out Costa Mesa taking our out-of-town guests. The food was great, if not better. We loved Bastilla and Lamb with cous cous. The service was wonderful. The belly dancer was very entertaining. Our guests could not stop talking how good everything was. We loved it and will definitely go back.
Wonderful venue for special occasions with many guests. The private room's design and orientation is conducive to allowing guests to interact (as opposed to feeling fixed to a seat at a long table like other restaurants with private event rooms). Music was soft and great for hearing and conversation. In short, experience felt like being in the comfort of our own home (with all the benefits of a restaurant). Highly recommended overall, and especially for large parties.
We went on a Thursday night for my roomate's birthday. The food and service was very good. We were disappointed the belly dancers did not perform that night though, my roomie was really looking forward to that. Should have called first to confirm if it was a dancing night.
Overall service and food was ok except the chicken kebab was undercooked.. I also put a note on my reservation that I'd like special dessert or something for my husband 50th birthday but I don't think that anyone got the message..
if I ever want to eat Moroccan food again I'd try a different place
Marrakesh is in what must be an old warehouse that has been magical transformed into a tent village! The colors and textures of the decor match those of the excellent food that was brought to our table. The servers were attentive, polite and knowledgeable. Noise volume increased significantly when the belly dancer came out; she was not in your face but certainly good for the eyes, and very professional! Very nice evening.
My wife and I go here for special occasions. When we have special company, we also bring them along. It is always fun, great food, and a top-notch dining experience. The belly dancers are fantastic and I'm sure don't get paid with they're worth. Highly recommend!
It had been many years since I had been, used to eat at the original on pch as a kid in the late 70's. Seems like some of the uniqueness is gone, brighter lights , no costumes, food was mixed with poor temp and ok. Brought some friends to share the experience and was a bit let done
