Thank you for an amazing birthday! We love you guys so much!!!
This is a fun place. A great way to mark a special occasion.
It was an entertaining experience however being that it was our first time, would have liked for them to review their menu with us, even after letting them know it was our first visit.
Overall, staff is friendly and serviceable. Definitely worth a visit at least once.
Good place to enjoy Moroccan food good service fast clean and delicious
Loved the food and service! Will definitely return again.
We’ll be going back very soon!!!
Service isn’t good as before also the food was average
Lose the belly dancing and focus on the quality of food.
My husband and I took our children to Marrakesh for a special celebration. This was our very first time there. My husband loves Mediterranean food so he was very much looking forward to it, specially for the pretty good reviews that we read in Yelp and Open Table. I’m sad to say that we were all very disappointed. Food was nothing special... almost bland. They only have one type of salad and one type of soup available (!!) And, I can get better portioned filet, chicken or shrimp kebabs with more and tastier sides (than “just” the rice Or couscous at Marrakesh)... at less than half the price (!)The servers were very dry. No smiles. We all enjoyed the belly dancer presentation, but overall we feel that we didn’t get a good value for our money. We won’t be back.
We have been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. Delicious food and fun, authentic atmosphere. Love this place!!
An unique restaurant which has tented rooms. The tables are low and the seating on couches and chairs are also very low and your legs can hardly fit under the table without cramping. We went there during OC Restaurant Week and the four of us ordered and shared the fixed menu dishes. The vegetable soup (Harira) with lentils, tomatoes and garbanzo was served in a handled bowl without a spoon. You drink out of the bowl. It was very good. The salad of marinated eggplant, carrots, tomatoes and cucumber was also good. The hummus, served with pita chips, was among the best we ever had. The Bastilla appetizer of filo dough stuffed with ground chicken, egg, almonds and spices topped with a dusting of powdered sugar and a picture of a camel made with cinnamon was the dish of the night. The tangines of roasted lamb in honey sauce, filet of white fish and lemon chicken were all good with the lamb taking first place. The dessert was a very good baklava served with small glasses of tasty mint tea. While we were having dessert a belly dancer came in and entertained us, inviting our younger couple to dance with her which they did. All in all a very enjoyable experience . Certainly a place to come back to with visitors or if you just want a night out in a different atmosphere.
A friend suggested that the 6 of us try this place. What a mistake. The place is run down. The server was very short with us and unwelcoming. The seating was shabby and uncomfortable. The food was almost inedible. I ordered lamb with veggies and couscous and they served the lamb as on large piece of meat on a bone instead of nice pieces of meat on the couscous. There was nothing about the meal that is worth writing about. The other five friends also were underwhelmed by their meals as well.
I've been watching the British Big Family Cooking Showdown and the Ainsley Eats the Streets, which have inspired me to have Moroccan food. I have been to Morocco and have tried cooking it in the past. The food at Marrakesh was better than average but not gourmet. I really enjoyed the soup, bread, and appetizer. The bastilla was good but not exceptional. The entree needs a little improvement. My quail was a little dry, and my husband's lamb was sweet. I was glad the mint tea was not as sweet as I've had it elsewhere. I'm glad that this restaurant is so close to our house so we can come back when in the mood for the exotic.
I took my daughter for her birthday. It was not that busy and felt a little quiet, but we did go during the week. We had great food and service, and loved the experience.
Always a great time! Super nice people. Belly dancers are always fun. Will be back soon!!
we were placed in an area isolated from the rest of the facility and our service suffered. Wine and non alcoholic drinks did not taste good at all. Food was really tasty, but pretty pricey for what we got. Belly dancing was fun.
First time to morracan restaurant. Good was too sweet for my taste.
Really authentic cultural experience. Lots of food. Loved the ambience! Food very good!
Really fun and interesting meal with my girlfriend for her birthday + valentines day. The food was good, the music and vibe was fun, but thought it was slightly on the pricey/expensive end. Overall really enjoyed our time though. Would recommend.
It’s an experience to be at this restaurant. We had not been here in 25 years and it doesn’t seem like anything has been changed or updated. Other than this our very nice waiter whom we recognize from another cafe, not much else is to be complimented. We were greeted briefly and escorted to our table without a word. Hostess did not check us in and open table sent email that we didn’t honor our reservation when we actually did. Decor is interesting but shabby old. Food was ok. It is not a place I would highly recommend or return once again. The belly dancer was ok. The chairs were so uncomfortable that our legs were numb by the end of the meal!!!
Overall an average meal. I hope they take the time to update it and upgrade their meals.
Took my best friend to Marrakesh for her birthday using a Groupon which turned out to be an amazing deal. We got an entire pre-fixe meal, and although it included dessert, the manager sent out an additional dessert just for my friend's birthday! The food was good, the mood was cozy and authentic, and there was entertainment during our meal.
Amazing experience, so authentic. Would do over and over again!
Marrakesh is a fun and fantastic experience. There is an air of authenticity, from the draped ceilings to the low furniture to the delicious smells of Middle Easter spices in the air. I would highly recommend it!
Rude waiter I for his name never go back there again. Its very dirty after I sat on the old couch I had itchy.
This place was great! Great Food and Big Portions! We had lots of great leftovers...
Lots of fun
We came for a holiday celebration and it was so great. The food was tremendous, and service was unbelievable! So happy we made this choice!!!
The service was herendous. I had a table of
20 that I had reserved a month ahead to make sure that they are prepared for the occasion but as a result the service was probably and I am not exaggerating one of the worst I have seen. Note it wasn’t the servers fault as it seemed that he was serving a lot of tables but it took 30 min just to get a drink on the table .
Great food, cheaper than expected, very friendly service, and fun belly dancer. The seating is low (like, short chairs/couches) for an authentic feel. They were a bit stingy with the meat in the dishes (four shrimp for our table of five), and the bathrooms were pretty gross and need a major reno (-1 star). Very laid back even on a Friday evening. I'll be back!
Great place the food is very specialty Moroccan food and of course it is super super yummy even their home made bread
There's nothing bad to say about this restaurant or the experience. My boyfriend and I try to visit 2-3 times a year and it's always lovely. Fellas! Bring your ladies to Marrakesh Costa Mesa!
We have been to the Studio City location for many times going back over 30 years and always enjoyed the food, service and entertainment. Since Studio City has been closed, we decided to try out Costa Mesa taking our out-of-town guests. The food was great, if not better. We loved Bastilla and Lamb with cous cous. The service was wonderful. The belly dancer was very entertaining. Our guests could not stop talking how good everything was. We loved it and will definitely go back.
Wonderful venue for special occasions with many guests. The private room's design and orientation is conducive to allowing guests to interact (as opposed to feeling fixed to a seat at a long table like other restaurants with private event rooms). Music was soft and great for hearing and conversation. In short, experience felt like being in the comfort of our own home (with all the benefits of a restaurant). Highly recommended overall, and especially for large parties.
Everyone was very friendly. There's always someone offering to fill my cup of water and checking in. The lamb was better than the tagine chicken. The chicken kabob was juicy.
Waiter ignored us after he found out we had a groupon deal. Food was ok and the atmosphere is unique.... The restaurant seemed dirty though....
Great experience every time we dine there. Tonight was no exception.
This was a great experience. It felt very authentic. Food was good but not great. Ambiance and cultural experience was terrific and the price was very reasonable
The dining experience was interesting and fun! The mood was light and the belly dancer was very good. The food was okay but not very good. It was what I expected but not as good as I wanted it to be.
Paid extra to share my “feast” none of the servings were shareable and we were all still hungry afterwards
You must go! the lamb is out of this world tasty great service and food will be back!
