Marrakech Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was dated and the restroom was dirty and out of toilet paper. A few of the food items were good like the vegetables and chicken pastry. The main course of lamb and chicken were so terrible that no one at our table of five had more than a taste. The service was great and they kept on top of everything. We were extremely disappointed in the entertainment expecting a few exotic belly dancers in beautiful costumes, but getting one girl in a less than lustrous costume although she was a nice girl. Not worth the long wait for her to perform. Food was expensive and they added mandatory 20% tip on top of total and 12% tax. I would not go here again and not recommend it to anyone.
Beautiful traditional Moroccan decor, tasty food, excellent customer service. Hadeel our server, greeted us with a smile, made great menu recommendations, and was all around a fantastic host. We had the Marrakech Salad, Mango Martini, Lamb Tagine and Lamb, Chicken and Merguez Sausage Couscous (combo). Everything tasted great. Marrakech provides good value for the money and a cozy ambiance. I highly recommend.
Moroccan food is my favorite, and i was introduced to it by the original Marrakech in Las Vegas. Seems to be the same menu, but like they're reheating things previously prepared, and this on an early (6 pm) Saturday evening. Reheating the chicken bastilla resulted in burning the filo dough, and the lamb shank, while well cooked, didn't have a very in - depth or complicated prunes and nuts melange with it. The tapenade served with bread at the table was awesome, but child habe comne from a great jar. I finished every but of it. I may try the cous cous next, and go when the belching is happening later. Its a cute neighborhood and i found street parking around the corner. They also told me the hotel next door (Palermo?) usually allows parking space to be rented for non hotel guests. Probably a great place for dates or foodies to meet and share new plates. Moroccan food is awesome.
We thought we were going to the old Marrakech we loved off New York Avenue and instead found a new favorite. At first concerned we loved the place, the waiter Kahleed, the atmosphere and the authenticity of the food. It was the best place to be for my birthday and Kahleed made sure we knew it!!! We plan on going back every year and in between. Thank you Marrakech!
Upon arrival, our table was set and ready. The menus were dirty and used looking in appearance with stains on it. We ordered drinks and most of what we wanted they didn't have, so we were limited to choices. Appetizers weren't the best. Couscous was mushy and not very tasteful, meat was reheated on the lamb, instead of salmon as listed on menu, I was given mahi mahi instead. Martini drinks were served in regular glass and found out my drink had pineapple liquer ( which I am allergic too) and this ingredient wasn't listed on the menu for the mango martini I ordered. The server asked to make another drink for me, several times I said no and he wouldn't relent. Instead, brought me another drink which was purely filled with alcohol. We asked what time does the belly dancer perform, was told not sure, probably wouldn't be that evening (website said otherwise) one of the main reasons for going to this restaurant. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary.
We had a group of 7 people for a special occasion. The restaurant was dirty. The ladies room was disgusting, dirty, and no paper towels or toilet paper. Looked like they had not cleaned up for quite a while. Food was okay, soup was room temp, not hot, and overall very pricy. Would not come back.
I booked reservations for my nephews 21st birthday, it was a group of 17 people. The service was absolutely HORRIBLE! After waiting for over 20min the waiter had still not come by the table to take even our drink order. I had to get up to look for him and bring back menus myself. Each time we needed something, more water, bread another drink order, we had to go look for him. The restaurant wasn't even busy, even-though it was a Saturday night (that should have been a hint). The food itself was not great either. My husband and I had tried this restaurant many years ago when they were at a different location and back then the place was excellent, the food and service was great. Not sure if it has changed owners, or why this place is now this bad. Would not recommend this place at all it really is not worth it, its just a sad, poor experience.
The service and the food was very disappointing. Sloppy plating, poor food prep... seafood tasted old or reheated.
The Paella was a mess dumped in a bowl. The fish was overcooked and had ano off taste, as did the mussels. Horrible.
The chicken tagine was way overcooked and unappetizing. I will never return and will never recommend this place to anyone!
Honestly, one of the worst meals I have ever had!
Service was extremely slow! Food was lukewarm and lacked salt. Belly dancer performance was not even 5 minutes long. This was a special occasion for my husband's birthday and because the service was slow we could not stay for desert which was part of the set menu.
Empty on a Friday night. I'm not surprised. No amount of niceness can account for Luke warm food that taste like box food. We were looking forward to the tea and he belly dancer. No dancer and the tea came out almost room temp and overly sweetened. Terrible experience. Sorry but don't do it.
Had Valentine's Day dinner and it was good. Set menu and very basic food. Lamb was outstanding, chicken was dry, and all else was good. Half a glass of champagne at end was a little odd, but all was good. Belly dancer was a nice touch and good entertainment. Good night out.
We had a reservation for 4:45 but when we got there at 5 they had were still starting to get ready. We ended up doing their Valentines Day preset meal. After the second dish we were full so we would take a bite or two from the remaining dishes. I asked them to start wrapping up the leftover food that we didn't eat but they placed only two dishes in the take home container out of the 11 dishes we collectively got from their preset menu.
The service was incredible slow and we were left for long period with out food or a drink. we were suppose to get dessert and tea with the preset meal and told them we didn't want dessert but would take the tea. After waiting another 45 min we told them we just wanted the check and not even the tea. We were there over three hours and that was without getting the last course. Which is crazy since we were also the only couple in the restaurant for about half of the time we were there and the restaurant never filled up so the waitstaff couldn't have been that busy.
Understaffed -- the wait for our starters was over an hour after we placed the order. The mint tea requested never came. A couple next to us left before their food arrived due to how inferior the service and timeliness of the meal was. I had looked on open table and the restaurant had almost 4 starts, I was very disappointed with the experience.
My first time coming during the week. The space was very quiet and no belly dancing, but the service was 100% better. I was able to try new dishes on the regular dining menu. The Chicken Tagine remains one of my favorite dishes. I will certainly be back.
This was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. The food here was absolutely awful. The presentation, the taste and the temperature of the food fell WAY SHORT of the Many Moroccan restaurants we've eaten at previously. It was if they didn't even care about what they were serving. DISGUSTING is the best word that comes to mind. The drinks were okay and the staff, while friendly, were not engaging or attentive.
This was our first time at the Marrakech. We choose it because we participated at the Women's March the day after the inauguration and it was halfway between the Mall and our home. A perfect location to pause as we walked back! We were 7 of us and made reservation for 5:00pm.
We lived in Morocco and love Moroccan food. I am afraid that we were very disappointed with the quality of the food served that evening: the soup was bland, the salads came straight out of the refrigerator. They were cold and without any flavor. The bastille and tajines were so ordinary ... and there is nothing ordinary about Moroccan food! We were so disappointed ...
Unfortunately, our visit did not live up to our memories of previous visits. The restaurant was very chilly, had to sit with my winter coat on for the first 20-30 min. of our dining experience. We changed tables but that only helped minimally. The meal started with bread and kalamata olive dip and it was delicious. Next, a combo salad of spinach, eggplant and carrots. This dish would have been much tastier if it wasn't so cold. It was a salad so not supposed to be warm but the food was freezing so couldn't appreciate the flavors. Then, there was an appetizer of chicken in a pastry. Very good, but again needed to be warmer. The dinner was pre-fix and consisted of couscous, chicken and lamb dishes. The couscous was good but should have been served hot, not cool. The chicken with lemon and olives was the stand-out dish, warm and tasty. The lamb was unfortunately extremely overcooked so didn't enjoy it at all. On the bright side our servers were very attentive and pleasant; water glasses were continually full and refills of bread were always available.
We were a party of four and wanted a variety of foods as 3 of us were new to Moroccan cuisine. There was a sampler dish available. When we asked our waiter about this, he recommended against it as it would be "too much food". We then asked him to order for us. He chose 2 appetizers and 3 main dishes, which was still more than enough! The food was flavorful and we all left satisfied. I would definitely go back again if in the DuPont Circle area!
The set menu had watered down lentil soup that was water with 3 garbanzo beans, the cold salad was cold spinach, carrots and eggplant. No hummus or pita bread. 1 belly dancer who did 2 dances, then put on a robe and sat at the bar reading her texts. It was cold every time someone came thru the front door.
The salsa was very good. Expected more of a Moroccan atmosphere. The head guy wore sweater and jeans. Would have been nice for him to have been in Moroccan attire.
It was a great experience for me to dine at a Moroccan restaurant. It was a great opportunity for me to try Moroccan couscous for the first time. As someone who loves exploring different cultures and cuisines, it was such a wonderful experience for me. The employees were very friendly and made me feel at home. Aside from the food, I was also impressed by the artworks on the wall. However, I didn't get to see any belly dance performance. But I look forward to coming back again and hope I'll get to see belly dance performances.
Invited a few friends to try something different and this was my 3rd time at Marrakech. This experience was alittle different, food was over cooked (burned at bottom) and lamb was not as tender as I remember. I got the family special (which was 8 courses) and my friends were alittle disappointed but the belly dancer performance was nice.
