Marmaris Cafe Ratings and Reviews
I was thrilled to find Turkish restaurant which I love to sample Turkish food from my trip to Turkey. I took my dear friend to this restaurant and they did an excellent job of not disappointing me and my friend with their scrumptious dishes! These dishes are authentic tasting! Highly recommended!
Marmaris has become my family's go-to place for special dinners when we want a casual place with good food, service and happy ambiance. Service is friendly and attentive; food is on point and the ambiance is very pleasant and inviting.
We were there this Sunday at 6:30pm for Father's Day and my husband's birthday. We had such a lovely time! BYOB with no cork fee is a huge plus.
We love Turkish food and embrace diversity in our choice of cuisine, but if you are not adventurous, they do offer other very good menu options like...thin pizza and fried calamari etc. I love their bulgur! Bronzini is always grilled perfectly. My mom who is very picky, loved their lamb kebob so much that she actually took the few pieces of leftovers home with her!
Food is consistently good and prices are very reasonable. Service was a bit lacking this time, but in the past has been good. One drawback is that there seem to always be either crying babies or children running around. If you're in the mood for good lamb and don't want to spend a fortune, this is your place.
My wife and I were searching the area for Turkish cuisine and decided to give this place a try. I'm so glad we took a chance on this cafe! Friendly service, boutique and truly a neighborhood gem. Food was great, very nice atmosphere. Definitely will be returning again.
Had dinner in Efgewater at Marmaris. Very relaxed atmosphere with excellent service. Food ok- better appetizers than mains. Keep it simple- eggplant, chicken dishes- whole Branzino very bony; mixed grill ok; desserts: skip the soupy, watery rice pudding. In all, just ok- but a lovely waitress who openly discussed current problems in Turkey.
Good food, good atmosphere, good prices, and, best of all, PARKING! Went here for date night because we always want to try something different. Was very slow and then they got slammed and service suffered (my BF went through his and my water, but couldn't get ahold of a waiter for a water refill, which only happened once, at the end of the meal). They apologized when we went to pay. Overall, a good experience, though! Food was tasty and basic (meat, vegetables, grains), and I don't mean that in a bad way, more like picky eaters will rejoice. Will go back.
We came for lunch and the pace was virtually empty. There were two people to wait on us and service was good. Since it was so quiet we had an especially nice time. The food and coffee came quickly. The chopped salad portion was so large I couldn't finish it. And as a man, I typically finish everything put in front of me. The vegetarian sandwich was filling and also good. The entire restaurant was clean, quiet and pleasant. I can't say if it gets crowded at night, but I assume it does. This is not a daytime business zone, assumingly explaining why it was not crowded for lunch.
The only thing I will say that was really negative was that there was a large group with young children that the parents allowed to roam around the dining room and they were very noisy and annoying. We finally had to angrily say something to the parents about the fact that this was a restaurant, and we were trying to enjoy our meal. The servers or manager should have noticed and done something sooner. Since the restaurant is divided maybe they should put families with young children in one section and save the other section for adult diners. Many restaurants do this when they have this possibility.
My only issue was a couple sat next to us & they received more attention. We sat with our food for about 10 minutes & had to look for someone to take it. It is BYOB which is nice & they have pictures of the different food on the menu, the food was very seasoned & good, would go back.
Also they don't confirm your open table reservations when you go in, so I had to keep asking if it was checked off.
Went here on a Sat night with my GF and another couple. At 6, the place was less than half full. When the waiter came to take our order, we asked for separate checks. From that point on, it was like we were at 2 different tables. The other couple both ordered the Lentil soup for an appy. It came right away. My GF's appetizer came 5-10 min later and mine another 5-10 after that. The entree service was similar. The other couple's came well before ours. They were politely waiting for ours to arrive but we encouraged them to eat because theirs would have been cold by the time ours got to the table. Neither the wait staff nor the manager ever said anything about the service disfunction. All the dishes were very good and we have been here before and not had service issues. But this was in-excusable. Especially with no crowd. Wont be going back for a while. Dayi' Inn Yeri in Cliffside Park is a much better option for Turkish.
Pretty decor and pleasant ambience with spacious tables and comfy seating. Friendly, efficient service. Quality food at reasonable prices. Everyone in my party of four was very pleased, and I got to try quite a few items. Lahmacun and baklava were very good, though I've had better. Everything else was excellent, especially the manti. Parking and BYOB are big plusses. Look forward to going back.
Came here tonight for dinner for the first time after some friends recommended and after reading reviews online. So glad we did. My husband and I love Turkish food (we were in Istanbul for our honeymoon) and were so pleased to find this gem. Food is delicious, homemade tasting, and very reasonable prices. It's BYO so that brings the bill down as well. The service is friendly and pleasant, we did not wait for anything. We have been to Turkish places in Manhattan and feel that this is actually so much better. Don't expect anything fancy, although the decor is really beautiful but more like you're walking into a Turkish person's home. But it is clean and tasteful. The Turkish coffee is amazing and the pistachio baklava was excellent!!!
We were a party of 4 with a reservationed that was honored on time. We were there on Sat- 4/12/2014. The server (Zuhal) had a great smile & was knowledgeable of the menu. Her quick & pleasant response made it easier for us as we need explanations on all the dishes. The food was fresh & prepared very well & also moderately priced. The atmosphere was very pleasant. We intend to go back.
Having already loved lunch and dinner there, we went for breakfast--especially for the special Turkish breakfast served . I like the classic breakfast with tomato salad, cucumbers, cheeses, olives, clottted cream w/honey, jams, and warm bread. AND. the best thing that other Turkish restuarants don't serve--strong, good American coffee! Other friends like the omelets better, especially menimen, eggs w/ peppers and served w/ breakfast meat. The assortment of boreks, Turkish "danishes", some filled w/ meat and/or cheese are good breakfast choices. If you go for "brunch", you can combine items from the breakfast and the lunch menu.
So, Marmaris is an all-day treat On a weekend, I wouldn't mind eating there more than once a day!
There are 5 things a restaurant in our area must have to succeed: great food, good service, value, ambiance and parking. Marmaris has them all. I have not eaten in all the Turkish restaurants in the area, but in many of them and this is the best. The food is the freshest and made-to-order. Even the bread is warmed before being served. It has been decorated delightlfully; very cheerful and comfortable. Friends have said I must return for breakfast. Lunch and dinner on 2 tries were wonderful. Marmaris' manti is the best I've ever tasted, including in Istanbul. All the portions are generous and sharable. I loved the grated celery-root appetizer--delicious and different. I also love the choice between bulgur(my choice) and rice.
