Marmalade Restaurant & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
My date and I enjoyed a 5 course meal at Marmalade. Everything from food to service and even the timing of the courses was to perfection. This was a great experience, dining here is a great decision. Cant wait to return for the ceviche. And the short ribs. And the bread pudding...
Fantastic experience with the 5-course tasting menu, the dinner was certainly the best we had in Puerto Rico and one of the best anywhere. The chef and the server were very friendly as well, which made for a good experience overall. Certainly a Michelin star worthy experience.
It turned out to be a special dinner for us, in more ways than one.
Marmalade is NOT to be missed when visiting San Juan. This place was absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived for our reservation to we walked out the door, everything was Perfect. They go above and beyond for special occasions and every person that walked near our table was not only helpful but extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine and even wished us Happy Birthday several times.
Worth every penny spent and would have to compare it to one of the Best Restaurants I have ever dined at and I am a Foody.
Luis our server was outstanding. He was very energetic, passionate, friendly and knew all the ingredients for all 15 dishes. He placed different wine glasses (Reidel) based on the type of wine. The chef/owner stopped by our table and was very friendly and shared his passion for his work. The wine/food pairing experience was outstanding.
He food was amazing! I wasn't fond of my salad and they were gracious enough to exchange it with the paella. The owner/chef was kind enough to come to our table and chat with us for a bit. It was nice to get to know his history and his passion for food and wine as well as life. It was one of our greatest experience in PR.
The best meal I've eaten in 12 years living in the USA. A perfect choice to end our vacation and celebrate our daughter's birthday. A must in old San Juan!
The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and described with flair and enthusiasm by our waiter.
An unforgetable experience. Excellent choices in the menu, and great wine. Rafael was also very concern with our overall satisfaction. Definitely, we will return for more camaraderie and fine dishes. Thank you Master Chef, Peter Schintler, and Congratulations!
San Juan Puerto Rico's finest dining. Spectacular wine pairings-especially the foie gras with montrachet-like small producer miracle, personally selected by Chef Peter Schintler (who spent 15 minutes discussing the menu with just two of us). Accolades abound for marmalade, I add mine without reservations. (But recommend you make some!)
Marmalade lives up to the hype. It's phenomenal so let's start with that.
The ambiance is hip and chic, new age. Cool color combinations and comfortable, loungesque seating.
Service is outstanding. Attentive but definitely relaxed. They are present but allowing you to enjoy a 4-6 course meal at a pleasant pace.
First course I had the poke and my wife had the seviche. Both dishes were fresh, flavorful and layered. Everything you want a raw fish dish to be. A+
Second course we I had the truffle pasta and wife had the lobster risotto. Again both dishes were awesome. The truffle pasta is rich, earthy, and satisfying. One of the best things I've put in my mouth. I wanted to wash the dish it was cooked in so I could soak it up with bread. Wife's lobster risotto was equally tasty. Rich, cheesy, with a bit of sharpness. A+
Main dish I had the beef. It was melt in your mouth delicious with a perfect accompaniment of a potato pancake of sorts. Delectable rich sauce (rich was a theme I was going for tonight). Excellent dish. A+
The desert options were plentiful and included drinkable finishes. Being a chocoholic, I had the chocol8 which has 8 different textures of chocolate. It was delectable and all you want from a chocolate desert. Just enough as well. Wife had the bread pudding. Not my speed but she loved it.
You don't come here on a budget but frankly, with all the dishes we were served and the quality of the food, I felt like I was a great value and one of the best eating experiences I've had. The chef bounced around the room all night talking to tables and there were plenty of laughs abounding. The restaurant is situated so you are close to your eating companions which facilitates conversation. It's a lovely and enjoyable space.
This place has the best reviews in PR for a reason. It's too level cuisine with incredible service without any pretentiousness. If you go to PR you must eat here. Period. Kudos to marmalade for being everything you want it to be.
Overall we really enjoyed eating here. We were greeted promptly and shown to our table. Our waitress was very good and attentive. We ordered from the tasting menu with wine pairings. The food was great and the wine even better. The gnocchi was fantastic along with all of the desserts. We would go back.
This is so far definitely the best restaurant we have ever been this year. We really like the beets, bean soup, pasta, shrimp, sea bass and almost all the dishes we had! The only downside is that we were told flip flops are not allowed but we saw a lot of them wearing it.
Nice atmosphere. Very friendly Chef. We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday here. The food might not be for everyone's taste but there were several dishes we truly enjoyed. Do not miss the white bean truffle soup. Do not miss the lobster risotto. Do not miss the beef tenderloin over au gratin potatoes. The black truffle pappardelle pasta was a miss for us. The popcorn shrimp was not what we were expecting but it made us laugh and the shrimps were delicious. And the peanut brittle creme brulee was to die for!
This is our fourth time celebrating our wedding anniversary here. There's a very good reason...it's fantastic! The corner sofa with the >20 cushions, the rose petals on the table, the gracious staff and chef. The food and service, top notch, they are here to make this a special occasion, and they succeed, every time. See you next year!
Simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!! Marmalade is probably the best restaurant in San Juan. This is our 4th time in, and we actually planned a weekend getaway around it. We were drooling over the thought of being there once again (we live in Tampa FL), so we had to make it happen. Even though the menu is refreshed every now and then by Chef Peter, I would dare to say we've tried about 40% of the menu between the two of us, and not one dish has been even near disappointing. Marmalade is definitely a dining experience. Please, please, do not miss out on it. :-)
We took our parents after a trip to Nevis and purposefully had a layover in Puerto Rico just so we could eat at marmalades. Once again they didn't disappoint, the food was amazing, the wine pairing spectacular and the chef charming as always. Wait staff very knowledgeable about the food and the wine and recommendations very helpful. Can't wait to go back again!!
