Marmalade Restaurant & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
Extraordinary experience even after a Rocky start. We arrived at our scheduled reservation time, but were forced to wait 20 minutes. This after arriving a bit sooner just to see if they could accommodate us. We would have thought they could have at least given us a free glass of wine as we waited. We honored the time and even called to confirm. Otherwise, the food and service were the best meal and experience of our time here!
I booked this reservation for 2 for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday. I mentioned the special occasion in the notes section. They picked a great private table in the back that was decorated with rose petals and his dessert came with a candle. All of the staff said happy birthday to him. They really made it a special night.
The food was incredible. We had the five course selection and the portions were pretty large, we were both full by the end. I also did the wine pairing which was phenomenal.
Overall, I loved the ambiance and the food of course. I would definitely come back again and recommend this to anyone.
When you walk up to the door of the restaurant it is very unassuming, when you open the door and step inside it is magnificent, like stepping into a magical place. The decor is probably the most unique, sexy, vibrant, comfortable place I have every seen. But be aware, you will not find a quick meal here, the courses are spread out so you can enjoy your evening, the atmosphere and your company. The food was absolutely outstanding, try the foie gras, its excellent. Drinks were delicious and the dessert was mouth watering.
What will also make this restaurant a success is that the Chef, Peter Schintler, was walking around greeting guests at their tables, explaining the menu and thanking us for our patronage.
A true diamond in Old San Juan, definitely definitely must visit and enjoy. We can't wait to return.
I went for Valentines and wanted to make it a memorable night, i went with the coursed menu with wine pairing (which was great!) Coral was my server she was very good, always had a smile, she went into detail’s on each course and explained each wine that went with each meal. Overall the experience was memorable!! Great day all went as planned, if you want to score point with your wife i highly recomend.
This is, without dispute, the most amazing restaurant in Old San Juan... and possibly the world... I say this because the dishes are inspired and perfect in every way, Ahmed must be clairvoyant to have predicted our every desire, and two evenings in row everything went more smoothly than any dining experience we have had, and we are including a lot of Michelin rated and 5 Diamond restaraunts, without any pretense. For friendly folks and fabulous food it doesn't get any better than this.
Where to begin... I didn't visit San Juan expecting to have the best meal I would ever eat, being from New York City and having dined at many world-renowned restaurants. But I was wrong. Marmalade has an incredible tasting menu, and with the wine pairing (highly recommend!) I experienced not one, but two of the best wines I've ever tasted. The menu is creative, and it seems like everything on it was a great choice from the 8 total courses I was able to try. Definitely, definitely order the famous white bean soup. I'll be eating that in my dreams for a while. The duck & pink lady apple dish was also to die for, as was the paella sushi and the choco-l8 dessert. The service was incredible, and the chef made a point to meet every diner. We will definitely be back and recommend this to anyone visiting looking for a extravagant but exceptional, unforgettable meal.
Many trips to Puerto Rico, but first visit to Marmalade. Grateful we were able to secure a reservation. We enjoyed the tasting menu which was superbly designed and delightfully delicious. The ambiance was impeccable and our service was outstanding. A big shout to Christen who shared her knoweldge of wine, (wine glasses) and food. So glad Marmalade withstood the Hurricane and remains open. A MUST when in Puerto Rico.
If your coming to Puerto Rico this is a must. Food was wonderful and Kat our server was beyond knowledgeable on the food, wine and the country itself. COME NOW and support the island....they need tourism dollars! Help support the rebuilding of Puerto Rico!
Fantastic and will return on my next visit.
We were on a cruise with friends and had seen this restaurant on the show “the profit” had also read about the white bean soup. We also wanted to help support the economy of Puerto Rico. It was more than worth the stop. Food was amazing, restaurant staff was first class and the chef spent time with us letting us know his story.
Best of all was the “white bean soup” wish I had took a gallon of it with us, but they had us covered, they give you the recipe for the soup to take with you!!!!!
If we are ever back to San Juan we will 110% be there again.
Don’t Make a mistake and not visit if you go to San Juan. Loved it, loved it loved it!
Outstanding people, food and wine. Chef Peter and his team do a remarkable job with the menu and wine pairings. Above and beyond at every step... Standout dishes included the branzino, tuna and lentil dish with foie gras, pasta with truffles and the lobster risotto, plus creative and excellent desserts.
A wide choice of food options. Two of us each shared a total of six selections. Flavors and quality of food can only be named extraordinary! Waiter Gabby was extremely helpful and friendly. Will be going back to Marmalade as often as a trip to San Juan allows.
Still a highlight of any visit to Puerto Rico!
Lovely room. Efficient, knowledgeable and friendly service. Amazing food -- creative and delicious. Wouldn't think of coming to San Juan and NOT paying a visit to this wonderful restaurant. Don't miss the Jamon Iberico-veiled fruit with mascarpone cream or the Pork Cheeks with black bean puree and pineapple-pablano marmalade. And save room for dessert!
We met here on our first date one year ago. The food, service, and friendliness was worth the price. We were there for three hours and enjoyed every minute of it. This year was our one year anniversary together and the restaurant made it very special for us with all those soft pillows behind us and rose petals on our table. Very nice touch to make a romantic evening even better. Thank you to all . Yes we will be back :)
This was our fourth visit to Marmalade. My wife and I don't fly so we cruise. When we stop in Puerto Rico, this is our favorite restaurant. The menu and wine list are competitive with the finest of New York restaurants. The service is both knowledgable and friendly. The wine pairings are well thought out. The food presentations are exquisite. The owner, Peter, is almost always present and makes sure each and every customer is satisfied with the food and service. My wife and I highly recommend Marmalade to anyone interested in fine food and wine. Be sure to ask for a copy of their bean soup recipe.
