Marmalade Restaurant & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
Well I have mixed opinions. This was my second visit to the restaurant. The first visit was simply amazing!!, we were a party of 4 we did, if I can remember, the 6 course dinner with the wine pairing. Our waiter enhanced the whole experience, she was impeccable, and knew everything about the dishes and the wines, service was perfect, we knew it was going to be pricey, but it was worth every penny.
Yesterday’s visit was totally different, first we were a party of eight, the restaurant was packed. Service was not up to the standards, waiter was ok, but never had the knowledge and professionalism of our previous one. Food... what can I say, good, not excellent, when you pay $1400.00 on a table you expect almost perfection on every aspect. The restaurant has a policy of just one dining option for party of 6 of more ( I think correct me if I’ m wrong), for me big mistake, the restaurant should allow clients to choose If the group wants the sharing experience ( thats the one we had yesterday), or simply the 4, 5 or 6 course dinner. My final thought is that I will probably go back ( last chance) , on a party of 2 or 4 dinner, never on 6 or more, unless they change the big group policy . On the other hand, I am afraid to say, that the rest of yesterday’s party will not.
Beautiful spot in Old San Juan. Very attentive service but you don't feel like they are on top of you all the time. The food was absolutely amazing. We had the 4-course dinner like our server suggested and it was the perfect amount of food. A must try is the white bean soup so simple and elegant, yet packs a lot of flavor, definitively the highlight of our dinner! Fresh ingredients, great food and wine, excellent service = one of the best restaurants, if not the best, in Puerto Rico.
Marmalade has become my wife and I’s favorite restaurant. We have been twice now and the food and atmosphere is phenomenal. The chef has come out and spoke to us both times we have went and we love that. They have outstanding vegetarian options too. I’m a vegetarian and wife is not and we both eat like kings when we go there.
Awesome food and wine pairing
Awesome service. Enjoyed the wine pairing explanations. Tuna poke was great mix of flavors and textures. I tasted the lobster risotto. Delicious. Same for the truffle papparadelle. Portions are sizable. Expensive but well worth it
We had a great experience dining at the Marmalade. The food, ambiance and the service were fantastic. Great cocktails and wine pairings with the food. The server was very professional and did a great job describing the menu and serving us for the entire two hour duration of our dinner. The Chef came and spoke to us which was a wonderful getture. The food was not only looking beautiful and plated in creative ways but also tasted great. The rose petals on the table made the experience very special. The experience and the food was comparable to some of the best restaurants in Paris, France we have dined in. A must go to restaurant if you are visiting Puerto Rico.
I make sure I eat at Marmalade every time I'm in San Jian! I had a great 3 course dinner. My appetizer was Jamón ibérico on pears with balsamic vinegar and Gorgonzola: very good, great mixed of sweet, salty and sour! Then Potato gnocchi with braised short ribs and crisp beet chips. Wonderful! The beef was really good and the gnocchi had great texture. The main course was delivered by the chef himself: Pork cheeks (guanciale) braised and rum barrel wood smoked with black bean purée and chili pineapple: excellent combination of flavors and textures!
Was there on new years eve. Had a tasting menu of seven courses. Loved everything except the pear and truffle ice-cream. Wasn't for our pallet. Staff was friendly and informative early on, but went into business mode when the place started filing up. Fair enough in my opinion but I recommend going when you have their full attention.
Exquisite. Every appetizer, mid course, main course and dessert was just delectable. Prepare to be stuffed. Service was wonderful - staff called us a cab to take us back to our hotel as none were avail on the street at that time. Couldn’t recommend it more.
As on previous occassions, Marmalade was wonderful in every way. The food was exceptional, the Chef owner extremely nice, the service by Katia (I may have the name wrong) was not only very efficient, but enjoyable. A gracious gesture: we received three servings of the incredibly tasty tiny white bean soup to take home. The experience of eating at Marmalade is unique and one that I will recommend to friends. Needless to say, my wife, daughter and I will return.
Fantastic food, service, and ambiance. The restaurant is fully open for business after the hurricane. The food and wine pairings are one the most complimentary we have ever enjoyed. The server Rafael was polite and very knowledgeable of each dish and the paired wine. Excellent experience and we will come again.
The service was outstanding only to be topped by the quality of the food. The wine pairing was superb and included some surprisingly bold choices. Having visited several three-star Michelin restaurants please note that Marmalade has nothing to envy them for.
My date and I enjoyed a 5 course meal at Marmalade. Everything from food to service and even the timing of the courses was to perfection. This was a great experience, dining here is a great decision. Cant wait to return for the ceviche. And the short ribs. And the bread pudding...
Fantastic experience with the 5-course tasting menu, the dinner was certainly the best we had in Puerto Rico and one of the best anywhere. The chef and the server were very friendly as well, which made for a good experience overall. Certainly a Michelin star worthy experience.
It turned out to be a special dinner for us, in more ways than one.
Marmalade is NOT to be missed when visiting San Juan. This place was absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived for our reservation to we walked out the door, everything was Perfect. They go above and beyond for special occasions and every person that walked near our table was not only helpful but extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine and even wished us Happy Birthday several times.
Worth every penny spent and would have to compare it to one of the Best Restaurants I have ever dined at and I am a Foody.
