This was our second visit to Marmalade - this time to celebrate my wife's birthday. The service was fantastic, each course exquisite. It's our favorite dining experience in Puerto Rico.
The food was good, although, we were not able to try the wines due to lockdown rules in Puerto Rico. Overall, I recommend Marmalade for any special occasion.
Absolutely fabulous ! Quality ingredients fused in a new and exciting way. Each bite was a pleasant surprise. The staff went above & beyond. The level of service, especially during Covid, was exceptional. 6 courses were just divine & the libations exceeded as well. 5 stars
Amazing as always! The food was amazing, with new pasta dishes added to the line up. We will be back as soon as possible!
I cannot rave enough about this restaurant! Just steps away from Plaza Colón, the entrance to Old San Juan and a 5 minute walk from the port area, Marmalade is a dining experience to you won’t soon forget! Upon arriving, we immediately felt very safe with how distant all patron tables were from each other, extremely important these days. The wait staff was incredible from the get-go; friendly and attentive. We celebrated my husband’s birthday on August 1st, and we decided to have the 4-course dinner (you can also choose a 5- or 6-course dinner). Each of us had a difference dish to taste more of the ample menu items. I started with the red snapper Ceviche, cured with citrus, grapefruit, avocado and smocked chili dressing. Instead of the traditional tortillas, I was so excited to see the delicious tostones (salted fried plantains) as its accompaniment. For my second dish, I had the Homemade Malanga Gnocchi. It was a Puerto Rican take with the gnocchi made from malanga, or yautia (a starchy root vegetable) instead of potato, that gave the gnocchi a phenomenal taste and texture. It came with slowly braised beef ribs that just melt in your mouth, with greens and crispy beetroot chips. My main dish was the Surf and Turf, which was a pairing of seared scallops and local pork belly on a bed of sweet corn grits, charred Brussels sprouts. I practically licked my plate! And for dessert, which I had to take home because I couldn’t eat one more bite, I had the Baked Paradiso, Marmalade’s take on a personal size baked Alaska: macadamia nut cake layered with local goat milk chocolate and passion fruit ice cream encased in a toasted coconut meringue with a touch or rum! What?!? Now that’s how you end an unforgettable culinary experience!!! All ingredients are locally-sourced, and Chef Phillip came to thank us for coming. Please do yourself a favor and go to Marmalade for either lunch or dinner, I promise you that you’ll leave feeling like you dined in a Michelin restaurant.
As always Chef delivers the best of everything!! From the staff to the drinks to the food, the whole experience is the reason we look forward to our trip to PR every quarter!
Marmalade never disappoints! They accommodated my wife and I in one of the corner tables for our anniversary for a sofa full of pillows as our chair and it was spectacular. Our waitress Cristina was on point and gave us all her undivided attention throughout the night. Also Rafael, the maitre d, was attentive to our table. The team overall helps each other very well and knows each dish in and out. The food is wonderful. We did the six course which I highly recommend and each dish was so tasty, leaving you with the desire to want more. We will definitely visit Marmalade next time we are in town as we always do :P
Gracias mi gente!
Service, food and drinks were outstanding. Server was very knowledgeable about the wine list and pairings. Food was top notch. Would absolutely come again!
Delicious, creative menu with lots of gluten free options. The wine pairings were so worth it - amazing! My favorite dishes were the ceviche, seared tuna (super fresh, high grade) and chocolate mousse. Lovely ambience, very discrete but thorough management of social distancing. Our waitress was first class!
We was celebration of love and we have a wonderful time
This is the Best experience that I live ever!!!!!!
Excellent food and service, recommended at 100%
We are from NY & recently NoVA & we are real foodies. While we totally appreciated the chef's efforts at breaking the creativity mold, we felt the food was absolutely abysmal. Root vegetable gnocchi was inedible. Homemade Gemelli pasta would have been sublime, if not for the "infusion" of red pepper. The short ribs, meaning the actual nuggets of meat, were truly delicious. The sauce that it was drowning in was truly inedible.
Our waiter was so overly animated and unprofessional that we thought he might burst out in song & dance. Or flames.
The management was amazingly adept, elegant & painstakingly professional (with respect to Covid & everything), but they can't fix abominable food. However, for the management, we will try again.
In a year or 2.
This restaurant has food you will think about for years. I’ve never had anything so amazing in my life! Get the white bean soup!! It was so good, we changed other reservations to come here twice. You will truly not be disappointed and the staff is very attentive and sweet as well. Can’t want to go back!!
Excellent service. The food was amazing and original. Wine pairing was perfect and they explain as they go along. I’d recommend 100%
Best Tasting Menu I had in a while. Chef Peter was amazing and server Mario was entertaining. Highly recommend! Golden beet app was to great and White bean soup........... OMG
Very good. The ambience excelent; very good food. Recomended
this is one of our favorites in San Juan!!!! Service, food, atmosphere and location all are awesome....it's a must for any visitor to the city.
What a great place to dine! We had the 4 course dinner and loved everything. The drink menu is hilarious, and the white bean soup was to die for... at first I was apprehensive about ordering bean soup but it was the best soup I have ever had, I am attempting to make it tonight!
Nice ambiance with adequate Covid safety measures. Highly recommended
It’s was my first time ... and was amazing!!!!

We really love it !!

Our host Louie, was outstanding and so was the food, the white bean soup w truffles ,my God the vegan sausage, the sashimi and the lobster risotto. The tuna tartare, was good but i wished it had a little more flavor. Also the wine pairing was very good.
Amazing! Best fine dine..
We loved this evening! Everything was perfect, the wine list incredible and the food amazing. Very generous portions. Beautiful setting. Great service. My favorite place in a long time.
Amazing food, service, and ambiance! Highly recommended!
They just reopened after the island shutdown and it felt like they haven’t close a single day... too notch quality, service and experience. Fantastic food... highly recommended.
Absolutely loved it. Fantastic restaurant and a great value for the elevated fare and top level service!
Marmalade was everything we hoped it would be!! The food was AMAZING - I would definitely recommend doing at least 4 courses and the wine pairings to get the full experience - but be prepared: you will be very full!
The staff was efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. They truly made our dining an experience and not just a meal.
Excellent food, great service, wonderful place. A most in San Juan!
We were celebrating our anniversary and they made it very special! Our server Coral was amazing!!
Going out to Marmalade was a luxurious experience. The ambiance, service, drinks, and food were all top notch. My wife and I both had five course meals and were supremely satisfied with each course. We opted to have a few cocktails as opposed to the wine pairings and were happy with this choice. Highlights of the meal include the Tiny White Bean Soup, Risotto of Lobster, and the Ceviche.
Hands down one of the best eating experiences I have had. The staff are lovely, knowledgeable, and professional. The food was amazingly delicious and inventive. The place is romantic, clean, and elegant. I have had the pleasure of growing up in NYC, living in SF and traveling to many countries and this place makes the top of the list. I wish I lived closer...enjoy and don’t think twice GO!
Our fifth annual visit to Marmalade was outstanding in every regard. Peter has developed an absolute gem that is a must visit for anyone visiting Old San Juan or San Juan. Look at the online menu and start planning your memorable dining experience.
Excellent and interesting food, well-prepared with exceptional, knowledgeable service. We had the 4 course chef's menu with wine pairings. Exquisite!
It was wonderful!! The food was incredible and the service was perfect! They made our evening all the more special! ❤️
We elected the 5 course with paired wine. The experience was outstanding until the final course when my partner was served lobster risotto containing lobster that clearly tasted spoiled. We alerted the kitchen and was told it was our taste preference. They did offer another dish but by this time we were satiated and a little noxious from the lobster. Too bad otherwise a good experience.
Thank you for the visit, I can assure you that the lobster which you ordered was prepared to my preference in a classic style unlike ones you have had before. We use the roe and the roasted shell broth in cooking the rice and it gives it a more complex and powerful profile. We prepare it daily and sell often close to 100 portions a night. I believe in this instance you may have been expecting a milder flavor profile without the decadence and fishy profile of the lobster roe. Peter Chef Owner
From our servers to the food... excellent! One of the very best meals... including dessert we’ve had!
