Marlowe's Ratings and Reviews
Fantastic experience. The food was AMAZING. We had a steak and the halibut. Both were among the best dishes we’ve ever had. Service was friendly and attentive, but not over the top so we weren’t constantly interrupted. Definitely going back. Worth the hour drive to get there for us.
We were a large group of 14 people. Even though we had so many people the food came out hot and everything was excellent. Our waiter was great! We started out with the calamari and we added jalapeno and parmesan cheese to it which made it extra good. They also had the brussel sprouts that we added bacon and parmesan cheese to and that also made it extra good! We had the rib appetizer and that was excellent. I had the lamb chops and they were excellent as well. Highly recommend this restaurant. Everyone said their food was very good especially the steaks, fish, and chops.
The food was excellent. The server had serious attitude and was impatient when we needed more time to look at the menu since it was different from that online and never once checked to see how our dinner was. Would not go back and would be hard to recommend to others.
I wanted to like this place because it was a great atmosphere when we walked in but immediately after being seated we had a very tough time of it. Our drinks took 20 minutes to get to the table and food another 10-15 after that. Once the food arrived, one person's fish was seasoned on the scales side, one person's prime rib was unseasoned all together, and I asked for mayo and received ranch. All of this is to say that there were only a dozen other people in the otherwise large restaurant and most of them were at the bar watching a game. It appears the staff is either completely new or they just don't care that they are doing a poor job.
In addition to an exceptional overall dining experience the ambiance and politeness of the entire staff was fantastic. You could feel the warmth of the restaurant upon entry. The appetizers & the main course were cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, the main courses were so scrumptious I/we were unable to save room for dessert.
My husband and I like taking friends and visitors here when touring the LODO area. We also like its proximity to local arts and especially to the Paramount. The outside dining option is great as well, however, I've found it to add too much noise to have that side of the restaurant so widely open to the outside air as it brings in additional noise making it difficult to communicate and we especially have found it unpleasant as it brings in far too much smoke from 16th St mall pedestrians. I would reccomend that they at least find a way to close the outside dining off a good bit further in order to effectively prevent half of the restaurant from becoming outside dining even when technically still indoors. The food is good. There are a healthy range of options to suit all palates and preferences. The service is typically pretty efficient also which is nice considering how busy the restaurant can be at times. The hostesses have warm and friendly receptions for the diners when we arrive. Should the restaurant not make any adaptations accordingly regarding the residual smoke and excess noise from the 16th St mall wafting indoors from the open patio, those with distaste and sensitivity to excesss noise and residual smoke should definitely mention that to the wait staff when asking to be seated ... and then prepare to wait quite a bit for seating or dine elsewhere.
I don't often say I wouldn't recommend a restaurant to someone else. Nothing here was bad, it was simply forgettable. Even a few days after most dining experiences, and I have the privilege of eating out often at many great places, I can remember most details of the meal. In this case I remember only one thing: there was absolutely no flavor to my meal. Being in Denver, I thought the Rocky Mountain trout was the smart, can't miss, choice. No flavor, no seasoning of any sort. Bland, tasteless. Again, not bad, not good - forgettable. I cannot even recall what my staff ordered and ate. With so many great choices in this area of downtown Denver, I'd probably say go elsewhere (or don't get the trout).
First time visitor on Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was empty, and therefore lacked any vibe. Don't get me wrong. The food was good, and the service was spot on. The upside was that we were able to get in and out promptly. Great spot for watching the crowds on the 16th Street Mall.
Alot of the reviews that were posted made me nervous about booking a large party of 12 from NY (fine dinning capital of the US) celebrating a 21st bday. Well I am so happy that I did because it was AMAZING!! Mains, appetizers, service and atmosphere was on point. Thank you for a wonderful night. I will definitely return and also recommend it to friends and family!!
Great fun atmosphere - especially before a concert next door! Quick and efficient service. Burgers were great. Tomato bisque superb. Side caesar salad not so much. But, the wedge salad looked mighty tasty at the table next to us! Calamari was good - drinks fine. Very convenient when you are venturing to The Paramount for a show. If you can swing the patio - do it - great people watching for sure!
