Always pleased with dinner. The escargot is a favorite repeat.
We've been eating at Mark's for 15 years, and our most recent trip very disappointing. The service was slow and inattentive. The steaks were also far below the standard that we've come to expect from Mark's. The filet and NY strip were tough and not well marbled -- has Mark's stopped serving USDA Prime steaks? These seemed more like choice than prime cuts of meat. Next time, I'll be going to Backstreet Blues Chop House.
Wonderful dating experience. Our waiter was very helpful with good recommendations. Our steak was great but don’t pass up the creamed spinach.
It was ok. Meet little fatty. They had nerve to charge for sauces to put on steak. Not sure would go back
Good apps & main course, sides were just ok. Really good service. Good cocktails and wine.
Always a great meal.
The food was amazing. Definitely expensive but of all the places we have been this was the only one we didn't feel bad and like we wasted money after we got done eating and this was more than twice as much as any other place we have been but worth it!!!
We were in the Gainsville area and found this steak house. The service was excellent, our server very attentive to keeping table clean, refilling drinks, while respecting our table conversations.
The food was excellent however the New York Strip was not nearly as flavorable is the bone in rib eye. We ordered it Pittsburged, medium rare, but it lacked the rich flavor we have had in other steak houses. The side dish of Lobster mac and creamed spinach was yummy!!!!
Will definately go back here if we are in the area.
Had the Surf and Turf, steak was cooked Medium rare as ordered, lobster tail was grilled. Tail was nice size and tasty. Wife had grouper dish and we split creamed spinach. Both were tasty. We had blue crab claw appetizer; wonderful....
Best French Onion soup I have ever experienced. Excellent steaks and the service was outstanding!!
Mark's has been one of our favorite restaurants for many years. I always get the filet with blue cheese crumbles. Yummy! Great ambience, good food, good service. I recommend it highly!
The steaks were good but the sides were bland (and expensive, since it’s ala carte!). Service was sloooooow and it wasn’t even particularly busy.
Embers is better in every way and less expensive.
Marks food is always good! This visit happened to be our anniversary. Gave special note when made reservation as such. They sat us in middle of the room, full of big groups of people all around us.
Food and service was great! Wine prices were very good
Very slow with Food delivery, few options for dairy allergy, although they did try to accommodate
Best steaks we ever had. Lobster Mac & cheese side dish was amazing.
The menu had a great selection of items. Besides the steaks being top notch, there were excellent side dishes to choose from and tasty and nicely prepared. The wine that our waitress suggested went very well with our steaks. Our waitress was attentive to our every need. There was a delightful selection of desserts and coffee desserts. I can't wait to eat there again.
Great dinner with flavorful steaks cooked over wood. Sides were large and very good. Salads were large but unremarkable. Service was attentive and timely. Nice dinner and we will go back.
The go to place in Gainesville for special occasion. Best restaurant in town. Service always great
Our service was excellent! And the food even better!
I haven't had a steak this good in years. Cooked to perfection and went great with the cocktails.
Nice quiet atmosphere for a very luxurious experience. 5/5 stars
Wonderful Valentines Day dinner, fret food ,great service
Some chefs resist orders for well done steaks. Neither of us cares for rare meat, so we order well done. If the cut is good, well done works as did ours at Mark's. Service was attentive without hovering. I particularly liked the soft west coast jazz in the background. Ambiance is a bit stark
but certainly better than over done, which applies to the food as well. Expensive, but we will return, possibly with friends.
Mark’s is our go-to for special occasions - r whenever we want a sumptuous steak dinner. The atmosphere is cozy, the wine list is good and the steaks are fabulous
THIS STEAK HOUSE IS BEST STEAK HOUSE I HAVE EVER EATEN AT EVER! My wife and I have eaten at over 50 different restaurants throughout the US. I had a delmonico and my wife had the large filet. both were cooked to perfection! i would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We always enjoy dining at Marks. Service is always good but was awesome this time. Our server took time to research a bottle of wine for me and then provided a detailed review. Very enjoyable evening.
I only am in Gainesville once or twice a year but always make a point to having dinner st Marks. Food is consistently great and the staff attentive and well schooled. And that’s honest coming from someone from the NYC area where we have high standards! Will be back next time work brings me here!
Great service in the bar.
Recently moved to Gainesville and Mark’s was recommend. It did not disappoint! Food was delicious but our server, Nick, really helped make it a great dining experience. Will definitely go back!
One of the BEST steak dinners from start to finish! My favorite restaurant in Gainesville for a nice dinner.
I took my wife here for Mother's Day and she loved it. We had the sea bass and sirloin steak and we were very pleased. The price is on the high side but I feel it's the best restaurant in Gainesville.
Great place for celebrations. Wonderful menu and food.
The food was great! Our waitress was very good, and made some good suggestions. Overall, it was a very good experience.
We had a great business dinner there. Austin was our server and he was fantastic. A+
It's always a pleasure to eat here when visiting our son at UF. The steaks and sides are always delicious and cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Was there 4/2015. Tried 2 Gainesville steakhouses. Surprised that both were excellent. Remember, you're in G-ville, not at Lugers or Sparks, that being said, the food was excellent, the service quick and the atmosphere was great. I'd come back on my next visit. The food was pricy, but you're in a steakhouse and these days I have not found a cheap, quality steakhouse. Expect to pay $30 - $40 per entree with sides extra. They could use a porterhouse on the menu.
We come to Mark's at least twice a year, usually for special occasions. This trip, it was louder than it ever has been, which took away from the overall experience, probably b/c the bar was so full. I won't come again on a sports night, because a quiet, leisurely, relaxed dinner was the goal (not attained- so loud the 5 of us could not converse). Also, it was the first time I ever had the experience that my food was overly salty (e.g., the mushrooms), which was disappointing. Steak was excellent, however, but the other experiences disappointing enough that for the next occasion, I might consider trying Embers.
What a bummer! We made advanced reservations for a special occasion and asked for a good table and a great server. We got neither. The hostess seated us near the dish clearing station although there were many empty tables in a better location. We promptly asked for a different table. Although our server was polite, he brought us a dish we asked about but never ordered. The worst part, he refused to join in and sing happy birthday even though he brought a dessert with a candle. He said, "I am NOT singing."
The baked bread was tasteless, the choice of appetizers and side dishes were unappealing, the twice baked potato was hard as a rock and tasteless, the grilled asparagus was also hard and way too peppered and the desserts were nothing special, even the espresso was tasteless.
The only good thing was the steak, although the ones we ordered were not the ones we wanted. Our first choice was unavailable!?
The prices at Marks are ridiculously high and everything is a la carte.
It was extremely disappointing, depressing and the bill was over $120 for two!! Don't waste your money.
We take our top salespeople here for a winners dinner , they are always impressed. It really gives our team something to strive for . They talk about it all month long and when we go it's always fantastic. I done there with my wife as well and never a bad meal. The best place in town !!
The best steak house in Gainesville. The food is served hot and the steak is the correct temperature. Atmosphere and ambiance is excellent.
