MarkJoseph Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
My friends and I went on Opentable.com and decided to go to MarkJoseph it had a variety of foods for both meat & seafood lovers. First we could not find the place it took us awhile finally when found the place the sign was in the dark. Second when we got seated the Cushion was broken up. Our waiter did not introduce himself so we had to ask him. In the menu has less opinions for meat lovers was very shocked. Our food was really good but after we finished our dish our waiter never asked us if we wanted any coffee or desert. We had to ask for it. We finally decided on the MarkJoseph cake. It came frozen we could see the frost so the waiter put it in microwave we did not finish it. The waiter mention that he can tell we did not like it. The check came we thought he would take out the cake but he did not. I would not come back again not even for the food.
Me and my friend were there for the restaurant week. The dinner portion is out of our surprise, big portions and taste so good. Our waiter was friendly. We really enjoyed our dinner and the dining experience. Definitely will visit again and highly recommend to my friends.
After checking this place out last year, we couldn't wait for another restaurant week to come back for this special meal. The steaks are out of this world, and the meal left us full, but not to the point of being stuffed. The atmosphere is bright and inviting. We were seated quickly even before our reservation time. It's one of the best restaurants in the city, in my opinion.
Recommended highly. But as disappointed as we were in the Seaport area, we found the restaurant to be an unexpected oasis in the middle of a very eclectic area. Food was outstanding, ambiance very comfortable (i.e. not stuffy) and there service friendly & accommodating. A great dining experience. Definitely a place to return to.
Stake was good but Robster was so hard. My son wanna eat robster I said here is stake house so you should chose meet but he said he wanna eat. And price is expensive so I thought maybe good
And my son ate one bite
Then he said " it's so hard. I don't want it."
I and my friend was laughing.
And paid a lot.
Maybe he never choose sea food at stake house.
Had dinner here with a friend on a recent Monday evening. Only a few tables were taken so I was surprised when our waiter showed little to no interest in us. Most of the time he stood rigidly at his post, much like a Queen's Guard at Buckingham Palace. However, the minimal level of service that we received was on a par with the overall experience that night. The menu is pretty sparse and shows no imagination (even by steakhouse standards). You won't find any interesting wines by the glass - all are "house" wines. I couldn't finish the one glass of "pinot noir" that I ordered. The mixed green salad was fresh and good sized, but the vinaigrette was too pungent. The mashed potatoes were soupy. The 16 oz filet mignon was fine, cooked as requested, but certainly not memorable. That's the highest praise I can come up with as we didn't stay for dessert. With all the fine restaurants in NYC, don't waste an evening coming here.
As a local to the FiDi area, I am continuously impressed by the consistently great meals and service that we receive when dinning at MJ's. Most recently my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by having the soft shell crab special which were sautéed in a lemon/butter/garlic sauce that was simply divine! The sautéed shrimp appetizer was also outstanding and our server timed each course perfectly. Our server paired our dishes with an absolutely outstanding California (Sonoma Valley) Pinot Noir that even my wife enjoyed, and she does not drink wine as a rule! We loved it so much, we are having Father's Day dinner there with my entire family! They simply will not serve any patron anything that is not the best it can be! Keep up the great work!
We go to Mark Joseph's often, it is our go to spot for business meetings and special occasions. Mark Joseph's staff by far the most welcoming and warm group in any steakhouse. Their food is always perfect and timely. Every time we have a business meeting with someone from out of town we take them there and we are never disappointed . The bar is excellent as well, whether you are a martini or bourbon drinker they have the answer.
This is a wonderful steakhouse that rivals and often surpasses the high end chains. If you’re a Ruth’s Chris, Morton’s, Shula’s, or Capitol Grill fan, yo’ll enjoy this gem.
I had a nice bottle of Bordeaux and the special, a peppercorn encrusted filet with jumbo shrimp finished with a mushroom demi place'. Perfectly done medium rare!
I finished with pecan pie ala’ mode and a Glenfiddich 15 year neat. Very nice!
I recommend this to anyone in the general area. You’ll love it!
We went here for a work lunch and I was very impressed with the food and service. We started with the bacon and calamari appetizers and wow - what a start. The bacon was particularly extraordinary. So thick and perfect, it just melted in our mouths. Then I had a hamburger. It was huge! I could not finish it and had to use a knife and fork to eat it. Some of my coworkers took leftovers with them. As a bonus this restaurant is located in the historic South Street Seaport area, with its cobblestone streets and charm. A great lunch spot!
I was able to get a reservation at MarkJoseph Steakhouse for NYC Restaurant Week two weeks in advance. The Restaurant Week dinner menu featured a variety of choices, which was definitely a plus. We were seated right away upon arrival, but our waiter did not realize we were seated at our table. We waited around half an hour before speaking to the other waiter serving the other tables in our area if we can get a waiter. Our waiter was not attentive and he completely messed up our dessert orders.
While the service was lacking, the food was delicious. Ordered the baked clams and sizzling Canadian bacon as appetizers. The Canadian bacon is definitely worth trying! For entrees, we had the lamb chops and the 20oz sirloin steak. The 20oz sirloin steak was a popular choice for Restaurant Week. Both were cooked to perfection and were delicious. Would dine at MarkJoseph Steakhouse again, hopefully the service next time will be better.
We came here for lunch during restaurant week. Staff were professional but not especially friendly. The place itself has a somewhat old school corporate feel to it so we were not totally comfortable. Food itself was enjoyable- solid quality but didn't blow me away. Seemed a bit overpriced for what you get.
I had dinner with friends for restaurant week. I am a steak lover so i ordered the 20 oz. sirloin steak with mashed potatoes and cream spinanch. IThe mashed potatoes and cream spinach was the best i ever had. These sides were delicious. The sirloin steak was good, but it was disappointing that it was not as tender as it should have been. For grass fed beef, I should have been able to chew it like butter. Before a steak is cooked, it should have been seasoned with salt and pepper. My steak was not. It was not tough, but not tender enough. Overall, i had a good experience. Service was excellent . The wait staff were helpful with the wine selection of wine and dessert was great.
My sister and I went midweek for dinner during Restaurant Week and the menu was awesome! I had the sizzling canadian bacon she had the baked clams and both were wonderful! We both ordered the 20 oz steak and let me tell you it was soooo worth it. Dessert was delicious, the fruits were fresh and I had the mini brownie and it was so moist. I will definitely be visiting here for the full menu.
We were there for the 2015 Restaurant Week. The portion was big and good. Our waitress Ingrid was great. Both of us had the Sizzling bacon, which was good. Then we have the 20 oz Sirloin steak. It was huge for one person and i had it medium rare. It was kind of chewy. Maybe I I should’ve asked for either medium or medium well. Overall it was good. Overall it was good and we had a great experience.
I love this place because it provide provides a consistent level of great food, ambiance and service. I have been coming here for over 10 yrs for occasions such as Birthdays, Wedding Anniversary , Business gathering and simple date nights. The overall experience is always great. I've tried other well established Stakehouses but I've either experienced bad service or bad quality food which brings me right back to Mark.
Enjoyable experience for four women. Restaurant week menu was wonderful, and neither food nor service suffered from the extra business. All tables were filled, and our food was prompt but never rushed. Our server (a Georgia girl) was very attentive and friendly. Filet mignonon was cooked to perfection. Lamb chops were delicious. I like spinach, and it was delicious, but there were no substitutions if you didn't care for spinach. Sides were small but properly proportioned. The mini brownie was divine. Great restaurant.
My husband and I went here for the 1st time during Restaurant week and we will definitely return. We started off with baked clams, caesar salad, and some extra canadian bacon. I had the filet mignon (exquisite) and he had a sirloin, both served with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. For dessert, we had berries with whipped cream and a warm brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Everything was delicious and the staff was wonderful :)
We don't get out much with 4 kids but when restaurant week rolls around its time to lock down a babysitter and head to one of our favorite places. Mark Joseph is a hidden gem!! The place always delivers. Food is excellent. Top quality steaks, cooked perfectly. Delicious sides and apps. Service is always friendly and welcoming. Ambiance is excellent. Love, love, love this place!
