Upon entry the staff were attentive. The location for us and our baby was great however my wife’s chair was far to close to the stairs for our liking. The staff were very attentive but maybe a bit bored as service felt rushed and we weren’t they long enough to enjoy our company. The bread was dry and over cooked, my wine glass chipped and the forced on portions may explain why this place has less than 5 years to survive. I paid for a 12oz fillet but had no choice in anything less (I only ate 8oz). But I did have a lobster bisque beforehand which was organic and healthy. My wife’s scallops were nice but not melting, the accompaniment of spinach however is a Green Party of veganism. Sides
For the mains were made for gargantuan gigantes fresh from harvest, but on a January menu, you excelled in consumption.
We had no room for dessert, but during my short trip to wee wee land, the plates were cleared and doggy bag were issued...army conscript had won and our night out over. Would have spent more money but ‘rules are rules’. Would not return hashtag sad face.
Also any place that has photos of famous people that have been there, are daygone heydays that live in a past of ‘Sex and the City’ contractions, rather than spacial awareness of consumers and customization.
Excellent steakhouse. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating. The food is always good there.
Went here for our wedding anniversary. Made a reservation but didn’t need too. The host was very nice, the ambiance not great just a regular restaurant. Our waitress was not very friendly at all and seemed annoyed we were even there. She never introduced herself when she first came over and didn’t check on us when our food came out. I ordered the salmon my wife ordered a 12oz filet mignon. Hers was cooked to order however my salmon was completely raw. Since our waitress did not care to check on us. My wife finished her steak well before I could voice a complaint about the raw salmon. When I finally had the opportunity to say something our waitress simply said oh you want it cooked more, I said well I did want it cooked the first time it’s raw, she said that’s how it comes...?!!! I said I’m sorry that is not true whenever I order salmon it’s cooked through this is not cooked through it’s completely raw. She then began to explain her expertises in the various seafood restaurants she has worked and then said so you don’t want the salmon or you do? I said no I don’t want it, my wife’s finished with her meal it’s terribly uncooked had you come by 20mims ago when we first got her food then maybe but now it’s too late. I was looked at and felt like I was the one doing something wrong. The waitress did apologize when she dropped the check and they did take the salmon off the bill but our overall experience and my personal opinion, is that there are much nicer restaurants, with very personable staff that cook your food well and the ambience is much better then this place.
Our server Paula was wonderful! Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. They made my husband's birthday extra special. This is why we go there as often as we can; and especially for our special celebrations.
I've been there many times over the years and this is the first time that the bone in rib eye was a little too tough to eat, other than that everything was on point from the service to the ambiance.
My wife and I were there for our 21st anniversary. We were excited to try this resturant because it was highly recommended by a friend. Don’t even bother. The service is terrible and it’s definitly over priced. Be careful with some of the food items since there are no indicators to alert you of how hot the food can be. The waitress never goes over the menu and she definitely needs customer service skills.
Maybe I'm being harsh in my review. The night before we dined at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant Cut. There service was exemplary and they made us feel welcome and were there to please us. Mark Joseph's restaurant the service was below average the ambience was nonexistent. The food was okay. The best thing I can say about this restaurant is we were able to walk 4 minutes on a rainy cold New Year's Eve night. It was close but not that good.
Food was good and our waitress was excellent. Also the desert was excellent.
Solid Prime Steak spot. Service was friendly and efficient.
We left content but not too full.
"Surf and Turf" was excellent, Bisque, unusual and worth trying. Lamb Chops, very nice and the "bone in"sirloin pretty much perfect.
Visiting NYC for the holidays.
Family Christmas dinner
It could have been more fun. But ambiance is so not vibrant. Steak is not as good as we expected. The main server is not that friendly.
Mom and daughter date
Meal was very good & all staff did a great job ! Our xmas dinner was on the money ))
Classic steakhouse without the crowds. It was very relaxing and the food was wonderful! Will definitely be coming back here for more date nights!
Steak consistently excellent (Fillet or porterhouse). This place stands out for the great extras like the sesame crusted tuna, crab or shrimp cocktail, creamed spinach, tartuffo w berrries and chocolate sauce. Unpretentious and appropriately attentive staff.
Love it. Best steak ever
Beautiful ambiance! Off the crazy beat and track of the city. Great staff and food is exceptional! Top notch steakhouse. Everything came out perfectly as ordered. Great Food choices from steak or fish dishes! But why have fish when your at MarkJoseph. The steaks are off the charts. Thanks for a wonderful Christmas friend get together! Will definitely be back!
My fav NYC restaurant; I pick my hotel so I can walk to it!
Fantastic steaks, perfectly cooked, friendly and professional service, a great wine list and a fantastic Single Malt selection!
I had the shrimp cocktail (you add as much horseradish as you want to the JUMBO jumbo shrimp) and the special octopus salad (the char on the tender-not-chewy octopus was amazing!)to start. Then I had the 12 oz Filet; prime beef prefectly done! A bottle of very nice Bordeaux enhanced my enjoyment.
For desert I paired a wonderful apple crumb pie with 18 year old Glenfiddich. Outstanding!
We travel from PA this is a great restaurant..Worth the trip- I have recommended to many of our friends
The service was incredibly slow for a near-empty dining room. The appetizers were inconsistent - the clams casino was disappointing, with tiny clams and little flavor; the lump crabmeat and the bacon were great. The meal was okay, at best. The steak was lacking in flavor, though cooked properly, and the tuna was great. The sides were very good. With so many other steakhouses to choose from, it is unlikely we will be revisiting this one.
Great classic place for a business meal and excellent steak. Outstanding service as well
This is exactly what a traditional New York steakhouse is supposed to be. Cowboy Ribeye one of best I’ve ever had. All the staff were really friendly and attentive.
We had great steaks and martinis. The baked potato was the size of a youth football.
Made a reservation here for a casual business lunch and was surprised by how good everything was.
The Tomahawk steak was ridiculously good and the wonderful Suzie was ever attentive without being overbearing. I'll be back for sure and highly recommend to others.
Love this place and will keep coming back for more
Went on a Sunday nite - nicely quiet!
Like everything else in NYC, very pricey though.
Very good food, excellent/friendly service, likely to return.
Every time that I'm in NY in the last 10 years I go to MJ but today's experience was very bad, the lady who received us should be more friendly, today the meats were overcooked. but one day everything can go wrong, but I will return, all the past experiences were excellent
MarkJoseph is always a treat to go to. The staff is so nice and accommodating. The food is amazing. They were very accommodating with my extra picky eater and was able to change the menu slightly for his taste. I fully recommend though it is pricey so I usually keep it to special occasions.
We travel from Pennsylvania to Mark Joseph Steakhouse ...the experience is well worth every mile..
Went here with a group of five and although one member of our party was an hour late, they were wonderful about waiting to take our orders until she arrived (or was close anyway). The food was delicious, one of the best filet mignon steaks I’ve had. The waiter was friendly and chatted with us and overall the night was a lot of fun. Only regret was that I could not take the leftovers with me because I had no way to save them!
Great meal as always. Suzy our waitress was outstanding and Tito our bartender couldn’t have been any better. Best drinks downtown.
I never have a bad experience when I come to MJ's. The steaks are top notch, cooked to perfection and the staff is fantastic!
Jeannie was fabulous and the food and service was outstanding,I definitely recommend it
Went there for a good steak and we were not disappointed.
Have eaten here several times never been disappointed
I LOVE THE PLACE, PEOPLE/STAFF & THE FOOD
Not what we expected. Average food for the price and service was a little off. I don’t think we will be going back.
