Was disappointed that we were charged a 20% gratuity for a party of (5).
The ambiance of this restaurant was very classy and romantic. The lights were dim and they had a good acoustic artist playing the guitar. I would recommend this restaurant if you want a quiet romantic dinner.
Love this place-great atmosphere & excellent service. The menu has changed, so the food was not as exceptional as I've had in the past, but still very good.
We wanted to take a nice long dinner without the kids and enjoy ourselves, arrived early wanted to get a drink at the bar to further stretch things out, but hostess said our table was ready, so we followed her to it. Told server we wanted drinks to start, server took drink order, came back with drinks, ignored what we said and asked for our food order again. We ordered an app and salads, while eating salads waiter asked about our dinner order again, so we ordered. Before we can finish the salads, dinner hits the table, and it was apparently someone else's food as neither of us ordered a tenderloin, and there is no way they cooked our order that fast. Now I am left eating a pork chop while my wife sits and watches me. 10 minutes later my wife gets her steak, and its flavorless, no salt or pepper at all, cooked perfectly but bland. Our bill was close to $200 in the end, there was no table touch by a manager or chef after the mistakes that were made. We won't be coming back for date night here again.
While the location and service were fine, the food left much to be desired. Our main issues were the filet was covered in onions and the fries that came with the burger were obviously frozen and soggy. Not what I was expecting for an $18 cheeseburger.
We had dinner before a show at the Palace. They are very good at understanding the needs of people going to shows in the area. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The menu is limited but very good. Anything from a gourmet burger to a filet to risotto. The salads were fresh and they have a nice wine selection. We would recommend this upscale restaurant to anyone going to a show or looking for a place downtown that's off the beaten path and out of the fray.
Love the ambiance, and food is good. Nice presentation. However I think drink prices are high. Not a lot of options for less expensive wine by the glass. Average price per glass $11!
We had a Groupon so it was an outstanding value. My wife had sea bass & I had duck. Both were wonderful, as were the salads we had as starters. We'll definitely be back.
Be careful with the black out dates!
Marketplace Restaurant came recommended and it was well worth the recommendation. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great for a business meal. Would highly recommend to anyone. The only negative was the foie gras appetizer, it was good, but it wasn't what I expected it to be when we ordered it. There is more pancake than foie gras, but it was still good.
Great, romantic vibe to celebrate Valentine’s Day!
Very nice dining. Scott was a great server!
We had a great experience. I had said in my reservation that it was for our anniversary and they surprised us with two complimentary glasses of champagne when we arrived!
We had a delightful evening at Marketplace. We are early eaters so it was not filled and was quiet. Even the music was perfect and not too loud. Our waiter was outstanding and the food very good. We generally love eating in one of the outside spaces, but it's February and our anniversary, so we ate in! Love the imaginative and colorful decor--- in AND out. Different spaces, different moods. Something for everyone. We love taking out of town visitors here, especially after walking around downtown in good weather. High end restaurant, expensive, but worth it for a special evening.
Fabulous food, ambience and service. Great evening. I did miss the live music, though.
We went there before the Jerry Seinfeld show at the Palace. They were very mindful of getting us out the door in time. I loved the scallops , but my husband’s short rib was a little bland though it was cooked well. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and we will definitely return again soon. Perfect location before a show at the Palace.
Extremely disappointed in every aspect! Food was terrible. We ordered an appetizer, that came out cold and sent it back. It came out cold again! Then I ordered the risotto. It was completely undercooked as was the butternut squash in it. The squash was so undercooked, it was actually crunchy. Plus, it was very bland in flavor. My husband and a friend ordered the sea bass. It was so fishy, my friend could not eat it at all, and it smelled awful. The service was slow on top of that! I have no idea how this restaurant ever got more than 1 star! Never would I recommend this place to anyone!
Everything was great except that they did not allow happy happy as their website said. It said M-F - 4-7 and upon arrival was told that they don't have Happy Hour on show nights. I was very irritated with this as this should be stated on the website, since we choose this place based on that and location. We definitely will look elsewhere next time due to false advertising, even though the food and service were both terrific.
The ambiance here is great. It was a cold night and we requested a table near the triple fireplace in the back. It was toasty warm which is just what we wanted. The bourbon list, although long tries a little too hard to be different; a few old standards sprinkled in among the single barrels would help. We had the mussels, which were very tasty. The sauce was a bit gloppier than I like. The foie gras appetizer was just odd. Everything was the same color and it was difficult to tell the poached pear from the foie gras from everything else on the plate. If we return we may try some of their less esoteric dishes to see if perhaps we just made the wrong choices. Service was terrific.
Excellent venue, service, cocktails and entrees!
Fabulous dinner and service. The sweet potato gnocchi and rabbit sausage was incredible. Marketplace is great for dining before a show, cocktails and appetizers on the patio, or relaxing to jazz.
Made reservations far in advance, was placed in seating near the door which was freezing. The place was empty so didn't make sense to sit us there. charged us for splitting a meal without indicating there was a charge just because we stated we were sharing a large meal. Had a Groupon that I mentioned when making my reservation and then was told it was at the restaurants discretion to deny the Groupon. Had to call Groupon and do a return as I did not want to return. Food had no flavor, for $46 dollars for a steak it should at least have flavor. won't be back!
Great service, amazing food!
The food is always excellent at Marketplace. The cheese grits with poblano peppers that accompanied my salmon were amazing. My husband loved the pork tenderloin. Our favorite place for a special dinner before going to a show at the Brown or Palace.
Restaurant very accommodating for a 22 month old. Highchair was provided upon my request. Delicious food!
Amazing food at a great ptice for a great luncheon.
The artichoke fritters and Chicken Parmesan sandwich were amazing!
Every aspect of our visit was wonderful. The service was impeccable, signature Manhattan was delicious and our meals were a very nice size. We will be back.
Place has gone down hill the restaurant wasn't even full considering there was a show at the Palace and it was the second time the service was awful combined with what looks like a higher priced menu. The food is decent but doesn't warrant higher prices with bad service. I hope they can fix it as I've always enjoyed this spot.
I am never disappointed in the food or service at Marketplace. Our party of 8 enjoyed several of the entrees and everyone thought their selection was delicious. This is our go to restaurant before shows at The Palace or Henry Clay Theatre.
Loved the live music. The piano really set a nice ambiance. The food was tasty and the cocktails were great as well.
My food was great and the dessert was amazing, I had the chicken and the grits that came with were wonderful. The service was fantastic. Only two issues. The first, the restaurant wasn't at fault for. The table next to us had a very loud man who talked about himself for the entire two hours we were eating! Again, no fault of Marketplace but we were out for romantic dinner and this guy had to be one of the most unaware and obnoxious people I've ever encountered. There were other people at his table and I don't think we heard anyone else speak or maybe this guy just wouldn't let them. It put a damper on our evening. The other was just a matter of taste, my husband didn't like the mix of flavors with his steak and the demi-glace. The cut was great and you could tell it was a good quality piece of steak, just not a fan of the demi-glace. All in all, it was great. Staff was attentive and food was good.
We went for lunch around 1:30. Both got the BLGT sandwich. There wasn't much bacon on it and what was there was tough to bite off and chew. It was more like jerky than the crispy bacon we were expecting. Wait staff was pleasant. Based on other reviews we were expecting something better. Maybe dinner is a different deal.
Great service, but the food wasn't enjoyable. I've been to the restaurant several times in the past and really enjoyed the food, but not on Thursday. Not likely to go back
We enjoyed our open air lunch, although were sad to see no garlic fries on the menu. Those were amazing and always a favorite. Please bring them back!!
Always enjoy the great cocktails, food and service. What I think makes this venue so unique, however, is the architecture design and smooth live music!
I am not one to usually leave reviews but I saw a few negative reviews and I thought I might share my experience. Well being from out of town I googled a few places to eat and this looked very good. My girlfriend and I arrived right on time and were quickly seated. Let me say that the place exceeded my expectations. The service was perfect and the food was amazing. We had the filet and the salmon. Both were cooked perfect and the presentation was very good. We did not have one negative thing to say about our experience. While some people have said they think the food is over priced, they need to go back to Outback or Something of that nature. Basically you get what you pay for. We are hoping to go back soon!!!!
The food choices are horrible! We did not stay for very long and tried a few appetizers. The dinner choices was nothing appetizing! Witness another a woman leaving before she could even get her water because there's no options. This used to be one of my favorite places. What happen?! New chef?! Turns out we ended up seeing the woman down at new resturant Set. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! :(
Entrees were great! Adding duck breast to my reportoire!
Food was very good and as advertised in the menu. Service was perfect. A nice venue, both bar area and restaurant.
