The atmosphere was awesome – we ate outdoors, I love the landscape and music.
Menu was very limited, As well as single glass wine choices, food very good.
Our experience was exceptional. We had the Filet, which was delicious, but a bit under medium, the salmon entree was delicious along with the burger. the only complaint was we had to ask several times for bread and cocktails .The staff was very professional and polite .
Food and drinks were good, service was slow.
Wonderful courtyard environment with great mid-century jazz and excellent food for remarkably low prices. Ate here three days in a row.
Waitress very friendly. Works hard.
Food good but not outstanding.
Attractive restaurant with nice outdoor dining
They need to fix the urinal in the men’s room.
We had late reservations. Food was outstanding! Service was as well! Great menu selections. Highly recommend!
Food and atomsphere are great -- service was unfortunate.
Omg. We had the best experience ever here tonight! Went out to eat before a concert and the salmon omg it was so delicious!! Everything was perfect!! Coming back and definitely recommend!!
Portions much smaller than they used to be and the taste isn’t what it used to be, but We love the atmosphere and wine selection
I had not visited Marketplace for quite some time. I prefer the old layout where you dined in the enclosed back room. Unfortunately the service was lacking which affects the overall experience. We waited way too long for a glass of wine to be delivered to the table -- maybe 15 min. Our male server introduced the "special" but had no idea what it came with and had to go back to the kitchen and ask. Mid-way through our arrival another server came to our table and introduced herself and said she would be our server this evening and taking care of us. Wait, didn't we already have a server?? Guess the 1st one went home! This all occurred after we had placed our order. Food was good, but due to service will probably go elsewhere next time we are downtown for an event.
The service was HORRIBLE. We had to wait 45 minutes to get our appetizers, then 2 hours to get dinner. Our waiter kept whispering and was not concerned about checking on our food or updating us on status. We had 7:30 reservation, got entree at 10 pm, AND they were not packed with customers, we see why.
Worst dining experience - went here Derby weekend so they had a preset menu. Even with that took it over 2 hours to get appetizers and another 30 minutes for the main course. The wait staff indicated most of them never had served before and were brought in that day for extra help. Do not recommend going here!
My husband and I had been to Marketplace several times and thought it would a a great place to bring our friends after Thurby. I made reservations in February for 9 people thinking the menu would be the great menu choices and great prices we had had before. WRONG WRONG WRONG
There was a SET menu which was 95.00 a person... so a hamburger was 95.00.... oh I forgot an appetizer and dessert was included $30 glasses of wine... the least expensive.. REALLY? REALLY? Why would such a great restaurant do that? Change their menu and jack up the prices?
I wasn’t told this when I made reservations. We were ..to say the least shocked at the prices. Some other friends went to The Village Anchor and Mesh and other area restaurants. There were not SET menus at these places and the prices were not jacked up. This is not New York or Chicago and I’m not sure why this restaurant felt the need to raise prices esp since other restaurants did not. Part of our party was a family of 4. Each had two drinks plus their dinner and
their bill was upward of 700.00. Ridiculous. The food was good... but not that good. And a hamburger was 95 just like the sirloin steak. Now how’s that work?
AND our server was lackluster at best AND the tip was already included. She would have been a lot better had she known she had to work for her tip. That was a mistake. Not a good experience. I won’t be back. Very bad experience.
Good food, terrible service. Empty restaurant but impossibly long wait times for every.thing. Regretted taking a customer here. Should have gone somewhere else. Don’t see this place existing much longer if my experience was typical. Disappointing that the flavors were really nice, because it makes it harder to write the place off. But I won’t return.
Excellent choice for dinner before a show at the Palace!
It was fantastic, I had the duck , wife had the steak ... both were delicious. Great service
Food was very good, but not to the level of previous visits. Before, we have felt we received premium food at fair price. Tonight’s experience was above average food, but at very disproportionately high price. We’ve had such great service, food, and experiences over the years but I’m afraid to say we will be seriously reconsidering a return visit.
All of the staff was amazing!!! Just need to address the value.
Our server, Katheryn was excellent. She kept tabs on us and made the experience worth repeating.
Before Show Dining
We frequent the Palace and are always looking for new restaurants to try and this was no exception; however, I tried to reserve a table in the past and they go quickly so this time when I ordered my Palace tickets I made our dinner reservations at the same time and we were not disappointed. With all the construction there was a parking advisory but since we had a 5:30 dinner reservation we were able to park very close and since the restaurant is mere steps from the Palace we opted for dessert and coffee following our meal which had us at the theater in plenty of time for the 8:00 performance. When I made the reservation I stated that one of the party was vegetarian and our menu selections reflected that request. The vegetarian had a starter of roasted vegetables and a gnocchi main dish which were excellent! The meat lover of the party enjoyed the poached egg salad on smoked salmon starter followed by lamb shank main course. We shared a pear cobbler with coffee. Everything was exceptional, even the coffee. Our server was attentive and the level of conversation was very comfortable. We are already planning our next visit.
Made reservation for six on a Tuesday, only 4 showed up not an issue for them. Sat immediately (was a Tuesday) I had excellent foie gras appetizer and above average flank steak (I ordered medium probably should have ordered medium rare) and a really good Templeton cocktail. I know fly to Kentucky to drink Iowa Whiskey. Amazing bourbon list. $350 for four everyone had appetizers, salads, meal and 2 drinks.
We arrived and were promptly greeted and shown to the bar, where we enjoyed a lovely cocktail. My wife was awestruck by the host taking her by the arm to our table where the experience continued. Awesome thank you
Great service considering the last- minute rush of diners due tobMellenkamp concert.
I love the food here! Only complaint is the music was up too loud to hold a conversation which doesn't really fit with the ambiance.
It's a little pricey and I would appreciate more variety, but the service was excellent, the location is convenient, and the atmosphere and decor were great.
Pear salad and salmon was delicious. Kevin, our waiter, was attentive to our specific requests.
The service was excellent ....Our Server was Kevin ...very polite and professional ...The food was excellent ...Pork Belly, Salmon, Pork Tenderloin and Burgers were awesome and cooked to perfection . The concierges were awesome and welcoming. Great experience !!
Great for dining before any event at the Palace.
We weren’t sure what to expect with this place so far off the beaten path, but were very pleasantly surprised! They easily accommodated our group of 10 and gave us first class service. The bourbon menu was amazing and the food was fantastic. Very great choice for entertaining our customers.
A favorite place in Louisville. Great menu, service. Cider Manhattan is the best!
With a reservation, we walked in and there was no one to greet us. I walked toward the bar before someone asked us how many in the party. After some fumbling, we were placed at the nearest table, dead center of an empty restaurant. We ordered the filet and the duck. Worst food possible. $29 and $42 thrown away. It was so bad, we didn't even finish the food. The food was plated well, but tasted awful. Carrots were sour. Steak was along the lines of a bad hamburger. The bartender was the same person serving our table. Someone was pulled from the kitchen to box our (unwanted) food up. The manager, while very nice in some fashion, pushed these people to serve, rather than approaching the table himself. Service and food quality fully explains why it was dead on a Saturday night.
Great restaurant! We all enjoyed everything we ordered. I got the special which was Halibut and it was delicious! I am GF and there were plenty of options on the menu.
Duck was very raw. We Had to return it and have it re cooked which we never do. Sad because dinner wasn’t inexpensive and I had my meal get cold while I waited for my wife’s meal to be recooked. Had to ask for bread. Couldn’t order the drink we wanted because they didn’t have the ginger beer to make it (sat night???). Unfortunately it was a bad experience and we will not go back or recommend to others.
Great place for drinks and dinner in the downtown Louisville area. Looking forward to going back soon.
It was very nice!
Amazing place..one if better spots in Louisville. Must visit
Good was amazing, atmosphere and decor were great. But we waited over an hour and a half for our entrees. Made the night overall disappointing. Reservations at 730 and we didn't get home until 10. The wait staff seemed confused the whole night where food was going, they tried giving us dessert 30 mins before our entree!!! Lol
Nice Atmosphere, decent service (had to ask for bread, twice), but the food was meh considering the price.
One of the best burgers I have ever had and my husband said the scallops were wonderful
