**We do not take reservations for the patio. We seat only complete parties on a first come first serve basis.
We had friends visiting from Australia was hoping to sit outside but was told that they couldn’t accommodate a party of 7 outside. That was disappointing. Service was good, food was so-so. The portions of the food and drinks were on the smaller end (dinner). For example Aperol spritz usually is in a huge wine glass but they served it on a half sized wine glass. For the price of the food and drinks, we expected more.
we sat outside and maybe that helped with the noise level. Service was EXCELLENT
Very good restaurant with great service. Their fish & chips, calamari, and cheese burger dish are all good. It's a bit pricey, but good food.
Food and service was ok but for the price and location would have expected more. Nothing that exciting on the menu.
All excellent! 😁
We sat outside and it was (too) windy...
A very pleasant dining experience. The food was great, the atmosphere casual but nice. Our server, Divina, was awesome. She was efficient and attentive without being intrusive.
Longtime patron for business lunches. Food quality has gone down, service still slow, still overpriced.
Buen lugar en el muelle de San Francisco. Comida muy bien lograda. El restaurante es un poco discreto
Excellent service. Tasty food. Pleasant atmosphere. Good value. What more could you ask for?
Our server was very welcoming. This shrimp special was spicy but very well done. I would try again.
Great place to people-watch in San Francisco. Service was very good. Food fresh tasting and reasonably priced for the Embarcadero area.
Service was a slow, had to go out of our way to find the server a few times. Also ordered a side of bacon that never came but I understand that’s easy to overlook.
Excellent service and very attentive. High cost of food in a touristy area is expected. It was fresh (seafood) and delicious!
Servicable option on the Embarcadero. Work and live nearby, and eat here every few months. Always eat inside, so not going for the outdoor patio which I know a lot of people like. The food and menu usually look better than they actually taste, and this time was no exception. This time they had no vegetarian options on the menu for my partner, and a soft-ball request for the chef to just make some pasta without the shrimp sauce was met with confusion and consternation. Really? Peruvian fish stew for me was workmanlike but not inspired or inspiring. Service was inattentive and spotty early on a Friday evening.
If you're looking for reliably good food and service for not too much money in the area, there's other, better options. The location and the outdoor patio will keep people coming back though.
We chose Market Bar for its location, convenient for our group coming from work and BART. We chose to be inside because the afternoon sun was intense this particular day. Waitress was distracted and inattentive.....worse part, she was wearing sunglasses indoors (maybe she also had outdoor tables) so impossible to make eye contact. Happy Hour was pathetic....very few choices, and at least one was the same price as the regular menu! We enjoyed the devilled eggs (not on the happy hour and quite expensive) and my husband enjoyed his seafood salad. Calamari bowl was neither fresh nor plentiful. Didn't sample cocktails, just wine and beer, nothing special!
Awesome Caesar Salad. Delicious fish tacos (spicy!) and oyster chowder(really nice).
Quite expensive, but the tastes & beautiful day outside made the visit a pleasure.
Had halibut. It was fantastic. I would definitely return
I’ve been coming to Marketbar for years. I was surprised when I asked for bread that I had to pay $6 for rolls. Some of the salads have been disappointing. My omelet was great
Outside and very tasty dishes. Fun to share with our friends.
Great meal for eight on a Sunday around noon! We sat on the inside as it was very sunny on Sunday. The Dungeness crab and bay shrimp louie was so good! The also had a full brunch and lunch menu when we were there. Would definitely return if I'm in the area.
Food was average, restaurant inside very few customers, service very attentive. It was a weekday and the weather was nice so some customers ate outside.
We had a beautiful family meal here, that was absolutely delicious. If you have the chance, I highly recommend requesting Blue as your as your server- he turned our meal into an unforgettably wonderful experience.
Nice sidewalk seats on the Embarcadero with great food and drinks. Excellent service
A perfect stop for dinner after our ferry ride from Sausalito.
Food was great as well as the service!
Our waiter had a great sense of humor. Our first table we were seated under an umbrella but as the sun started to move towards the Embarcadero building we asked if we could be moved to another table where there was no umbrella To take in the last of the sun. Our waiter accommodated our request and he and the busboy immediately helped us move our belongings , drinks and appetizers to our requested table. The waiter removed our guacamole and chips before we were finished and when we said something to him about it he told us not a problem he would take care of it. Loved the mushroom arancini. I do wish that you had more vegetarian options. My girlfriend asked if the pasta could be made vegetarian and the request was not accommodated.
We were there for dinner early, at 5:00. They did not have any of the dinner "specials" of fish left. Makes me wonder if they ever had any! Service was excellent in spite of that and the other food was OK.
The inside of this place is kind of bleak. It has that ancient old beer and cigarette smell that just doesn't play well in daytime. However, sitting outside on a nice day can't be beat.
I highly recommend Market Bar for dinner. I know it is a popular outdoor dining spot during the day, but dinner is most excellent - delicious and well priced - and the ambience is very appealing.
Waiter was nice but felt like he was FORCING us to order - and could not enjoy. Waiter TALKS too much and should just shut up.
A bit pricey for the quality but the service is SUPER slow!
food was just mediocre! I wanted more for the money. And the Atmosphere sitting outside in SF people watching was great!
Father’s Day lunch
Our server Tracy was attentive and helpful
Love the salmon with mushroom sauce and the french fries;)
One of the worst dining experiences ever... Our waiter - a bald-headed guy with RayBan-like sunglasses - was RUDE and arrogant and everything else. The $30.00 Lobster roll was inedible.. HORRIBLE... JUST HORRIBLE...
Location location location. Food is just okay
Sunday morning pancakes and bellinis were never eaten in such a lovely setting. We sat outside under an umbrella and had such fun talking and people watching before going to a Giants game. The menu was a bit pricey which we didn’t mind because it was a special day.
Food was decent but overpriced for what it was and none of the dishes were standout.
My sweetheart and I went there and ordered the mushroom omelette and smoked fish on a bagel. The food was average at nest and the pricing to high for the quality. We were even charged an extra $2 for a tea spoon of cream cheese. We will not be back and will not recommend the place.
