About Market Table
Chef Mike Price and partner, Joey Campanaro, opened Market Table in the fall of 2007. Located at the corner of Carmine and Bedford Streets in the West Village, the restaurant boasts an airy dining room with exposed brick walls and large windows offering a view onto village life. The menu at Market Table is seasonal American, influenced by Mike's childhood on the family farm in Maryland coupled with years working beside great chefs. He offers nightly specials that reflect his love of creating simple dishes with big flavors.

Market Table Ratings and Reviews
Everything was great at Market Tables starting with our fantastic waiter, Kinston. We mentioned that we were going to share our appetizers and they split them up in the kitchen for us. The cavatelli w/braised rabbit was spectacularly rich and flavorful and the scallop crudo looked like art on a plate. It was a delicious spicy bite with a fiery finish. The braised short ribs were succulent especially if eaten together with the greens and 'gravy'... but the pan roasted chicken was the star of the show. Half a chicken flattened perhaps under a brick, cooked to perfection with a crispier than crisp skin over risotto with a delectable 'moat' jus surrounding it. Fantastic! For dessert we split the strawberry rhubarb crumble....made w/ grape nuts!
The restaurant has a nice ambiance, the food is okay (though often overrated in reviews), but we will not go back. After two days hanging outside the smell of the kitchen is still in our clothes (coats, jackets, pants, shirts, nothing was saved). In addition service was correct but not friendly.
Absolute gem. Relaxing atmosphere. Attentive but unobtrusive wait-staff. Food was delish. I started with the beet salad, which was divine; my husband couldn't stop raving about the duck confit salad. For entrees, he went with the short ribs and I had the flounder with kale instead of peas. I should have stuck to the peas - the kale was super-salty, but the flounder was cooked perfectly. We shared the upside down pineapple cake with sour cream gelato for dessert - as soon as we took the first bite, we regretted ordering one. We will definitely be going back.
One of the best date spots you'll find. Food is simple but delicious. There is a wide variety of entrees to choose from and the chef does them very well without trying to be too fancy.
One caveat is that liquor is not available, only beer and wine. But the wine list is very extensive.
We live out of town now and whenever we come in we have trouble trying other restaurants because the experience at Market Table is always so great. As with previous visits, the servers make you feel at home and are knowledgeable about the food and wine. There were six people in our group this time and everyone raved about their choices, all the way through dessert. The one slight rough spot was that we unexpectedly had two vegetarians in our group and there wasn't really much for them to choose from (no specials and only an off-menu veggie platter for an entree -- though fantastic).
We loved the casual, warm feeling of this place. They take their food seriously, but there is no pretension. Even on a busy Saturday night, we never felt hurried. The starter salad of greens, duck confit and a poached egg was perfectly balanced. The skate I had for dinner reminded me of skate I'd had in France...buttery, firm and perfectly cooked. My husband's pork "schnitzel" was immaculately fried, with a crisp and non-greasy crust. Our waiter was attentive, professional and laughed at my husbands' jokes. The wine list was extensive, with a good range of prices and years. The rhubarb-strawberry crisp with marscapone gelato was just right...a perfect balance of hot and cold, sweet and tart. We'll be back.
The Market Table is a real gem. After visiting some other very disappointing "recommended" NY restaurants - which seemed to be catering mostly for tourists - this is an understated place with a real focus on the important stuff: delicious food, very friendly and helpful service, and great value for money.
I'm glad I finally got a chance to try this place. It had been highly spoken of. I love the ambiance - it's great for a date or an intimate group. The menu is limited, but the food is fresh and all dishes were well executed. The service was ok; the staff is very nice but it was a busy night so you know how that goes in some places. There is a very decent selection of wine. I will come back although I'm not rushing...
one of my favorite restaurants - excellent food / service / ambience
always a treat to introduce to my foodie friends who enjoy and return to themselves
over several years have never been disappointed - always a delight
service understands customer needs for a quiet table and does not "hover" when customers require time
I had a great experience at Market Table. The food was delicious and overal decoration was inviting. The cocktail was just right not too strong. Waiters were attentive and friendly. My friend and I had a great time. Would highly recommend. Only thing is that they don't serve many vegetarian options.
Loved it! I went with friends from out of town. The service was attentive and friendly. My friends were about 15 minutes late, which in NY often means awkwardness or even your table lost, but it was fine here! I had the burger which was sloppy in all the right ways. Will be back for brunch or lunch with my husband and baby.
LOVE the view out the windows at twilight. Food stupendous too, if a slight bit salty at times (which I don't really mind) - had really flavorful lamb, really enjoyed combination of flavors and textures in duck confit appetizer. Waiter was really pleasantly friendly without being annoying or omnipresent. Busboy was also really friendly too, actually. All-around really enjoyable.
We made reservations at Market Table because we couldn't get into the Little Owl. We figured since it was the same owner and the Little Owl is touted as one of the best places to eat in NYC, that the Market Table had to be great. The food was great. The service wasn't bad but it wasn't spectacular, but the food more than made up for it.
