This place is deafening. Despite the small size and bad acoustics, the servers pay little to no attention to diners. The food is good, but good enough to make it worth it.
My husband and I have lived in Manhattan for thirty years and part of the joy of life in Manhattan is finding wonderful restaurants. Saturday night we did. A friend, who is a charming foodie, recommended Market Table and I am very glad she did. We got there around 10pm on Saturday night and, so, the noise level was fine. I imagine it can be a tad noisy when all tables are occupied. Our greeting upon entering the restaurant was truly lovely. You would think that we had been coming to the restaurant for years. (I actually thought that the staff would be the envy of Danny Meyer.) The food was as outstanding as the staff. I had the grilled salmon--which I have ordered at scores of restaurants. Their salmon was the best I have every had. I had a side of grilled market carrots in a yogurt sauce. Perfect. My husband had hangar steak which is usually mediocre, at best. Here, the meat was cooked perfectly and was tender and sweet. So, we will be back without question.
Each time, every dish was phenomenal. It’s an open and airy seating space, not too crammed in with tables. It IS pretty expensive, and I think some of the prices should come down ($16 cocktails, $16 for a side of tomatoes), and maybe more carb options on the menu. That said, it’s one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in NY for a long time. Everything is so fresh, and everything is cooked to perfection. Staff is very friendly as well. Really really love this place.
Went for an early dinner with family from out of town specifically looking for farm-to-table type meal. Overall they were very satisfied and we were finished before it was too loud.
This was a pleasant surprise on a street where I have had too many bad meals. The food was excellent, and actually more than we could eat, the service was friendly and attentive, the wine list was an interesting one with some reasonably priced options. Can't wait to go again.
From the second we walked into the door, the staff were extremely welcoming and ready to accommodate us. We arrived a little earlier than our reservation time and they immediately gave us water, took drink orders and continued to give us updates on when our table would be ready. The restaurant decor was lovely - great ambiance and trendy New York vibe. My only complaint would be that it was a little hard for conversation as the music was fairly loud and the acoustics of the room weren’t great (not at fault of the restaurant). The food was incredible... we get the chicken, salmon, pork chop and heirloom tomatoes. The food portions were generous. Easily one of the best meals I’ve had in NYC so far... if you’re looking for a nice spot to go out in Greenwich Village for a get together, date night or just somewhere to dine out, Market Table is an excellent option!
I am grateful to the owners/management of Market Table Because it was early in the evening, they were able to accommodate a last minute addition of 7 People!!!!! The food was outstanding..from the variety of appetizers to the main courses. The ingredients tasted fresh and were seasoned to perfection. Thank you to the staff! It turned into a wonderfully memorable evening.
We always feel welcome and the food and wine is superb!!
Incredibly noisy when we arrived, making it unpleasant. As people left as we had a late reservation, we were able to enjoy our conversation and hear the waiter. The food was delicious and well presented. I would recommend the restaurant for off - prime dining hours.
Food was delicious. Staff was awesome.
Very good food. Overall extremely enjoyable dinner for all four of us.
I've been to Market Table many times. It never disappoints. The food is fresh and real. If you have a memory of the taste of tomatoes you haven't experienced in years, for example, come here. They are wonderful. Where else do you find a column of offerings of vegetables?! Our group made a few of them our appetizers to share. They were amazing, especially the zucchini. The entrees offered are diverse and our group found our choices all delicious. The service, too, is terrific. People welcome you with warm smiles and pay attention to pacing and never rush. Plus, what could be bad about having another excuse for heading to the West Village. Such a lovely neighborhood! Go, enjoy!
It's always a pleasure to dine at Market Table when visiting New York. The restaurant just opened after remodeling, and the new interior is fresh and more comfortable. The food and wine are still outstanding! All the ingredients were super fresh and locally sourced. Standouts were the clam strip salad and the seafood tagliatelle appetizers. My friend and I shared the organic salmon and the pork chop cutlet milanese loved both of these new dishes. The mexican style cut corn with a rich creamy parmesan and lime seasoning was the perfect side dish. The wine list is one of my favorites and really compliments the food. Service, as always, was friendly, knowledgable and attentive. Market Table is an enduring gem in the West Village. I can't wait to return for another visit!
My husband and I visited shortly after the re-opening and after a Cherry Lane Theater performance.
Very pleasantly surprised. Welcoming staff, delicious, creative food, spectacular service and lovely ambience.
Great developed flavors in the vegetables as well as cooked just right
Great takes on fresh produce and delicious mains as well. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and excited. I typically meet up here with a friend and order several dishes to split as it's hard to commit to just one!
Great food and service. A foodies delight diverse and interesting menu.
The food was really good. The ambience was really nice, and people watching on the street was interesting. There were only 2 tables of diners at 6pm on a Saturday night. Other places in the area were packed. We were greeting by a friendly hostess, but the rest of the service was fair. There were at least 4 people working, but they were mostly chatting and pouring themselves drinks at the bar. It was way too expensive for the meal, but tasty.
Travel experience - Single travelled, wanted to try farm to table food. Watermelon, cucumber, goats cheese, pistachio salad was perfect seasonal blend of contrasting textures and flavor . Melt in your mouth mini-beef sliders .
We are regular patrons. They never disappoint in every respect : high quality food, excellent service , real nice atmosphere. They go out of their way to ensure an enjoyable experience.
I’ve never had a disappointing meal here. Great vegetable dishes and it’s relaxed yet cares greatly about food and wine. It’s a gem.
We came here on the strength of a review appearing in "Food and Wine Magazine" about wonderful dishes prepared and served at reasonable prices. We were delighted with everything about our meal. We had one of each of the special lunches: soft shell crab and enchilada. Both were exceptional. Location in the heart of Greenwich Village makes this a neighborhood gem and to be sure, we were return every time we're in New York!
Farm to Table restaurant in cute neighborhood of NYC. Very good food and service. I had fresh halibut and green beans. My meal was very fresh and cooked to perfection. I will return to this restaurant on our next visit to NYC!
bday! they gave us free drinks :)
Food is fresh and seasonal. Wished my Old Bay Fries were a bit more crisp. The asparagus was very good. Whole Fish was excellent.
There’s just something great about this place. Besides the food and wine being excellent. It’s special
Wonderful brunch experience will go back soon
This place has it all. Our absolute favorite. I wish it was in the UWS.
If it was in my neighborhood I might try it again but both entrees were over cooked so I won’t make an extra effort required to go again.
Superlative experience! Expensive? Yes. But definitely worth it for special occasions :-)
I usually don’t like to order salmon in restaurants because often the preparation is “ordinary”, but not here at Market Table. The flavors were complex and deeply satisfying. Overall the food tasted very fresh and interesting. The server was accommodating and kind without being intrusive. My entire party had a very positive dining experience. Definitely will be back.
Go for the FOOD. The service is friendly and helpful.
I've lived in the neighborhood for years, but Monday evening was the first time I visited. Came with my college-age niece, who is pescatarian & has some food allergies. We both had two appetizers for dinner and cleaned our plates: We ordered the fritto misto - fried calamari & artichoke hearts, with some lemon slices - didn't use much of the heavy sauce, but everything was crispy and delicious. Perhaps a lighter, tomato-based sauce would be good for the summer. I also had the asparagus soup, which included mushrooms & was heavenly. Good people-watching out the window onto Carmine Street, attentive service, and not too noisy at 6:30pm on a Monday. Highly recommend!
We were there with old friends we did not see since few years and had a great Brunch in a nice atmosphere
Love love love ❤️
The food was excellent. We had the fish - it was cooked perfectly. some of the seating is a bit close to the table next to you but overall it was lovely. Will definitely go back!
Food always exceptional. And this time the service was as well. Our hostess saved a window table for us and the server recommended the fried chicken sandwich which was the best I’ve ever had.
Great view in the village
Serata meravigliosa, atmosfera indimenticabile. Servizio eccellente e cibo buono.
consiglio vivamente la location.
Exceeded our already high expectations! The staff was very attentive, and made our special celebration night out extra special - thanks Market Table! We'll definitely be coming back soon.
