Food is excellent with top quality ingredients in creative delicious preparations. Starters were amazing, entrees were less innovative. Wait staff was very energetic. The only minus is the noise. When full, it was way too loud and tables much too close together. Everyone has to speak loud to be heard over the noise and the proximity of the tables results in every table hearing the entire conversation of the table to the left and right of you.
Got an awesome wine recommendation from our server - thanks!
Friends recommended Market because we were vacationing in Del Mar to celebrate our anniversary. WOW!! Market was terrific!! Our dinners were creative and exquisite. Such interesting and delicious combinations of flavors and textures. Spencer was a great waiter. We had a WONDERFUL evening. Highly recommend!!
Excellent food, but LONG wait between appetizer course and Nain entree
Wife and I have traveled the world and know good food and great restaurants. This ranks among the better restaurants where we've eaten and worth every penny. The Market is not a price gouger. Wife had soft shell crab as her starter and ravioli entree while I had tuna tartare and rack of lamb. Not a morsel was left in any of the dishes. Sommelier selected the perfect wine pairing (reasonably priced) for my lamb. Sorbet served before dinner to cleanse our palates; only the top-shelf restaurants do that. Manager presented wife with yummy dessert to mark her birthday. Wish this restaurant were located in Denver!
FOUR TOPS & JAMES BEARD - What do these two have in common? The lack of industry recognition. The world will not be right until the Four Tops are in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame and the Chef/Owner at the Market Restaurant & Bar receives a James Beard Award. As a retired Chef, French trained, I believe the best restaurant in San Diego is the Market Restaurant & Bar and it deserves the industry recognition of a James Beard award.
Always great food and service, never disappoints. Alex the sommelier is a gem!
Excellent from every standpoint. Keep up the good work.
Lobster was slightly overcooked but everything else was as perfect as usual.
I'd like to recommand to you.
The staff's service was very good and our dinner
was fantasic. I'll visit with my family too.
Always a great meal! I have eaten at Market over 50 times and I always leave feeling happy and grateful that such great food and service is available to me. Soft shell crab appetizer is nothing short of fantastic. The special "Ribeye Cap" was cooked to perfection, medium rare and very tasty. Black cod was tender and flavorful. Friends had the Foie gras and torchon which was out of this world. Amuse bouche always a special treat and a burst of flavors in that tiny bite. Our server, Janine, couldn't have been better. Perfect meal, perfect service, perfect night.
We have eaten here many times and have always loved it. This time, however, was a disappointment. I had the Skirt Steak. It was covered in thick sauce and way too much salt. I could not even taste the steak. For $51.50, it was probably a good cut of meat, but one would never know. The rest of the meal was fabulous as usual.
Best. Place. In. Town. Period.
Always an excellent experience
No mention of any kind
I am fréquent client. And for me its best restaurant un California.
We Just celébrate my birthday and they dis real lu spécial for us.
Amazing and thanks full.
Our go-to place for special occasions ever since we moved here.
Still the best restaurant in San Diego county. Been coming here for over a decade. The food and service has remained top notch. Do not miss out on the cabernet braised short ribs!
Excellent food. I have never been disappointed!
We were in a food coma driving home! Everything was delicious. The staff was very professional and friendly. We’ll go there again!
We chose The Market for our 30th anniversary celebration, and they did not disappoint! The food was very good and creative. Service was excellent!
Great food service and value. What else does one need in a fabulous dinning experience.
Birthday Amazing food and service. I received a call in the morning of the reservation to confirm my friends birthday. It was a wonderful evening!
Never miss an opportunity to dine at Market! Inventive, beautifully presented and a taste sensation
This was such a great experience start to finish they made me feel like a local. Food was on point service check if I could complain about anything would be didn’t explain dishes as they came. But that was minor due to how good they were if I would of came here first night would of done this every night and I normally don’t ever do that. So yes get here and enjoy because they got it going on!!!
We have been to Market several times and every time has been exceptional. The food, the service and the ambience combine for, what we consider, a perfect evening.
The food was absolutely delicious. Great service
Outstanding food. Outstanding service. I hadn’t been there in years, and it did not disappoint.
One of the best meals.. creative chef
Definitely a place I’ll return to next time I’m in the area!
We are always thrilled with Market's food and service!
Early Mother’s Day dinner: Service was highly polished and well orchestrated. Despite a limited gin selection, a suitable martini was delivered. Wine selection thoughtful and offering a variety of prices. A growth Bordeaux was offered at a very reasonable price and was a wonderful accompaniment to dinner, though a glass of white Burgundy also proved tempting. Food was good to excellent. The starters were exceptional, particularly the avocado salad. Entrees were good, but not as stellar; the saffron ricotta ravioli lacked texture. The coconut verrine was a disappointment; on the other hand, the blackberry tart with the earl gray ice cream was one of the most stunning desserts I have ever tried.
Amazing. Should be Michelin rated.
When we arrived the hostess wanted to seat us at a horrible table by the door when there were plenty of empty tables. After pouting she reluctantly moved us.
We wanted to order appetizers and the waiters told us that the chef requires all food to be ordered at the same time, a bit rudish.
The food was fantastic however so the evening went on fine.
We paid $19 each for two glasses of wine that was very poor quality. Nobody had any more wine afterwards. If you pay $19 of a glass of wine you expect that it would be above average wine and this was not. The food was good.
Absolutely delicious. We had an avocado soup that was ambrosial and sautéed vegetables that were locally grown and done to perfection. Wow! A true taste delight.
The food and service were good. The food, however, took a really long time to get to the table especially for a Wednesday. This was our first time at this restaurant so not sure if that's the norm or is unusual. Our whole family arrived at 645 and the entrees didn't come until about after 8.
Everything about the Market is wonderful. Great service, outstanding menu and great help Roth wine selections
