One of the best restaurants in San Diego. Great innovating dishes artfully presented. Menu changes often. Atmosphere is subdued, and pleasant. Extraordinary service. Great wine list with multiple choices by the glass
Great Service and Incredible Food!
The service is great and the staff is super friendly and accommodating. The menu is creative, delicious and very well presented. I highly recommend this restaurant
amazing as always!!!! never disappoints!!! one of my favorite places to go in san diego!!!
great service! great food!!
We were extremely pleased with our dining experience. The food was delicious with beautiful presentation. They utilize runners so the entres were all 4 delivered hot at the same time. The service was excellent, without being overdone. We will dine again soon at the Market.
Always super solid!
Nothing to say really
Excellent dinner with attentive service.
Best restaurant I have tried in San Diego.
Went for my birthday! It was lovely. The staff was fantastic - attentive but didn’t rush us. The food was spectacular! The grapefruit, avocado and pistachio salad was so different and special. All of the good was perfect and beautiful to look at as well as eat. And for dessert we got a delicious slice of carrot cake with a candle! How nice. Would recommend highly.
Great ambiance, great service, very attentive, our waiter just seemed to know when to come over. And of course dinner was delicious, such good flavors! Can’t wait to go back.
I am not too crazy about the atmosphere, but the food was outstanding and the service was excellent. Deserves to be named one of San Diego’s best restaurants.
Food was mediocre at best. Too much flavors
Market Restaurant and Bar is a high end restaurant for people who have no experience of high end service and cuisine. The service was very aggressive with a considerable lack of discretion. Food was inconsistent, some of the appetizers were good but others marginal, the beef rib eye entre was almost inedible. Apparently, the head chef requests that guests submit their order altogether including dessert and discourages parsing out an order.
The restaurant is overrated and needs an overhaul on the quality of service and preparation of the offerings. The cuisine is a southern mixture of everything, mix and match mistakenly interpreted as a high end cuisine. Portions are big and overall it feels like comfort food.
A most excellent meal - fresh ingredients, well-prepared, absolutely delicious! Well worth a visit. Not pretentious at all. Every course was great, with no item disappointing. Even the corn muffins in the bread basket were delicious. Waiter was friendly and attentive, but not too solicitous. Best meal we had in a week of dining in San DIego
Outstanding in every respect.
Great meal, great service. Our favorite restaurant!!!
Our overall experience was just okay with respects to the food. The steak was chewy and we added lobster as an add-on and it was a lot more pricy compared to its size than we expected. It was also very tough and chewy. The potatoes that came as side dish we didn’t like the tomato sauce garnish it didn’t seem to compliment the potatoes. The potatoes were very delicious just not with the tomato sauce garnish. The short ribs were very delicious. Service and ambiance was excellent!!
Food was delicious for the most part except bass with crab. It wasn't a bad dish but I'm not sure what they were going for. Veal with cheek was definitely the highlight dish.
Service was on point, except that we had to wait almost half an hour for our entries to come after the appetizers, so we already lost appetite by the time they came.
I love the black and white simple theme, great ambiance. We went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and they seated us at a 2 top. We found it hard to hear each other and asked to move to where we could sit next to each other. Luckily the restaurant wasn't packed and they accommodated us and were so friendly about it!!
The food was incredible, every flavor was unique.
We were told that two of us could get out of there for about $200 without alcohol. But with 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts our bill was at $160. We were pleased!
Everyone's food was amazing. We all enjoyed our starters, especially the salad with grapefruit and avocado, and each entree was perfect. The best part of all had to be the desserts though! Best dessert ever has to be the lemon semifreddo with fresh raspberries. I'll be back for that!
Fabulous ! Cozy with exceptional staff and a wonderful wine list
Sublime. Everything was perfect...blue cheese souffle, avocado toasts and soup, spare ribs, and flourless chocolate torte. I will return in a heartbeat next time I am in town.
We come to Del Mar every winter and always make a point of dining at The Market. The cuisine is outstanding - we are never disappointed. Always look forward to the chef's amuse-bouche - always very creative with flavours that enhance each other.
Could well be the best food in San Diego!!
Incredible Caesar Salad. Wow! What dressing!
And lovely succulent fish, with subtle seasonings. Perfect!
Great craft cocktails💋
We were given a gift certificate and The Market did not disappoint. Excellent service and food was the order of the night. A great example of this service...we joked with our server that our son was not getting any leftovers since we ate everything. Our server then came out with a little doggie bag of cookies/brownies for him...no charge, of course. Will definitely return for a nice special occasion!
I've been here before about 3 years ago. It was great then, it's great now.
Oh yeah, their cornbread is nice too.
The food is always wonderful. Our waiter had a bit of an attitude at times which was a bit off putting and surprising as we've always had exceptional service.
Duck and Shortribs were excellent and paired very well with our wine. Berry sorbet at the end of the meal topped everything off nicely. Great dining experience.
Excellent food. Dated interior.
Eve at the bar was a great server. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. I started with the blue cheese soufflé , which was very good. I had the fish for my entree. My only comment on it was that, like many kitchens, they were a little liberal with the salt shaker. The flavors on their own don’t need any added salt. I had the flourless chocolate cake for dessert with buttermilk ice cream. The cake was good, but I didn’t enjoy the spicy sauce that accompanied it
We had a marvelous dinner as we always do dining at Market.
The flavors of Carl Schroeder's dishes are so wonderful.
A great mix of classic and modern cuisine.
We'll be back as always!
We have eaten at Market in the past with mixed results. We decided to give it another try. What a great experience. Menu had changed and was far more upscale. Food was incredible. Pace of presentation of the courses was spot on. Our waiter was so attentive and got all my food allergies correct. It is loud so if you have hearing issues, would recommend you ask in advance for a booth or table on the side of the restaurant rather than the center. Will put this restaurant at the top of my list next time I want to go out.
Best Restaurant in San Diego. Food Israel delicious and Service is outstanding
The time between our first course and main dish took way too long. Food and service was good though.
We received attentive, knowledgeable service from Randy. Blue cheese soufflé was a great starter. Seared tuna and mushroom ravioli was amazing. Everyone was service-focused.
35 th wedding anniversary
I was online searching for a restaurant in Del Mar, and Market kept coming out on top. Met up with some friends who were locals who have been dined here before and confirmed that Market is one of the best restaurants in town.
It was busy for a Sunday night, but we had the perfect table in the back (#11) and it felt like we were the only people there. Such attention to detail, both in service (thank you Gavin!!) and food. Every dish was picture perfect. Almost too pretty to eat - but so glad we did.
A must do if you are in the area. Can't wait to come back.
