Market Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Food was absolutely amazing!! Everything on your plate had its own taste and surprise, every bite was a party for your taste buds, I just can’t say enough about how amazing every thing we tried. We all had something different and tasted everything. If you want an amazing dining experience this is the place. The staff are absolutely incredible, friendly not pushy attentive yet not a bother, perfect service. I would recommend this place to anyone, it was definitely one of my top 5 best dining experiences and I am a total foodie, trust me it was amazing!! Make sure you get the soup, no matter what it is, the chef takes great pride in his soups and you can certainly taste it, it is probably one of the best things to ever enter your mouth, definitely a place that will not disappoint anyone, perfect dining experience.
World class food and service, interesting menu items, Market Del Mar is our go-to place for special occasion dinners. Everything on the plate is delicious and artfully arranged without being overly precious. We have never been disappointed and look forward to our next dinner there.
The best meal in San Diego in my opinion. Wife and I come here frequently - alone and with friends. I've never had anything on the menu that I wasn't absolutely thrilled with - soups, salads, meat, fish - all fantastic. Wait staff is always great. Bartenders and bar staff equally good. Nice wine list and a very helpful, knowledgable sommelier (Alex). This is our go to place for everyday and special occasions.
Took friends from Annapolis, MD here and they were extremely impressed. Three of us had lamb, and 2 of us had COD. The miso Cod is memorable and worth a trip just for this dish!
Great service, great pacing.
Also had the avocado grapefruit salad which was wonderful.
Our guest raved about the soup... looked like artichoke or something.
Great evening. Market never disappoints!
Market is one of the best dining experiences in the USA. I had the yellow tuna which was out of this world. I visit the San Diego area about 6 times a year and always go to Market!! A big hello to Alex and the team. They all do a fantastic job. Already looking forward to my next visit to Market!
Last night of Restaurant Week. Delicios food. The cauliflower soup was probably the best soup I have ever eaten. There were so many distinct yet harmonious flavors and there was a large portion of lobster included not just a garnish. Hubby said the blue cheese soufle was excellent with strong blue cheese flavor.
Two of us had the duck breast and leg confit. They really enjoyed the kumquat sauce. One had the miso cod and thought it was excellent. The skirt steak and potato was the least popular dish of the evening with the potatoes disapointing.
Desserts were lovely. The lemon poppy seed cake with fresh citrus was very refreshing after a rich meal. The chocolate mousse cake and peanut butter ice cream was rich and delicious.
Service was friendly and attentive.
Very happy all around.
My husband and I ordered a cauliflower soup with spiced lobsters, a Blue cheese souffle for starters. The souffle was exquisite , the flavor combinations were unique and strongly recommend it. We got sea bass and duck confit for our main course. We were delighted by the quantity and dint expect that much food to be in our plate at all! Both the dishes were great. The sea bass was served on a bed of mashed potatoes, tangy sauce, citrus fruit, pickled Capers and more. Such unique amalgamation of flavors!! For our dessert , we had a bittersweet chocolate mousse served with caramelized banana and hazelnut ice cream and a lemon crema served with frozen yogurt, citrus fruits, with toasted almonds. The later was a recommendation and we totally agree on that. We were told the menu keeps changing. Totally recommend this place for unique palate. Great to be there for your special occasions(they treat you really well) and also because it's expensive! The ambiance is quiet and the lighting is great so that it doesn't hurt your eye but just the table is bright! We dint opt for the wine pairing but got a cocktail each and were priced at 13.5$. We could say the ingredients were fresh and flavors just came right through. Summing up, we had a great time at the Market Restaurant.
We went for restaurant week and were very happy with the menu. We brought our own bottle of wine which was overkill because the wine pairing that accompanied the meal was excellent. I also like the high end alcohol available for cocktails. My only complaint was that the server took my bottle of wine and decanted it somewhere else out of my line of sight and then brought it back. I still gave them 5 stars because I know it was my wine but I have never had this happen at a high end restaurant. Highly recommend this place
Simply put, a restaurant during "restaurant week," with a limited menu, should be showing its "A" game. The cauliflower soup was excellent, and my girlfriend's miso black cod also very good, but my mushroom ravioli was saltier than the Salton Sea. The carrot cake dessert was dry and uninspired, and the lemon cake mediocre. Sorry. Not good, and would not recommend.
Went here during restaurant week. It has been on our list of places to try for a while. The restaurant is east of Del Mar about 0.5 miles from I5. Great valet parking on the outside. Cozy setting on the inside. This is a fairly large restaurant but not at all noisy.
We all had the restaurant week menu and the matching wine. We chose soup, salad, ... for starters and fish, steak and duck for entrees. We had citrus selection, chocolate mousse, and carrot cake for dessert.
The food was fantastic all around and the matching wines were all chosen with care. The service had just the right level of attention. A great experience and we hope to go back soon
We dined here during Restaurant Week and it was fantastic! Impeccable service and flawless food! We got a great deal with the special menu and it had lots of choices. I had the petrale, beet salad, and carrot cake. Two others had the skirt steak and chocolate mousse with smoked salmon as a starter and the homemade sausage as another. Everything was perfect. The salad was my favorite.
