Market Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
This was my fifth visit to market and the general manager Anny and assistant general manager Amber all came to visit and had relatively long chats about the organization goals and how they maintain very high-quality. The squash soup was outstanding and my grouper was incredible. I highly recommend this restaurant that has maintained high quality and consistency across 11 years of service. The sezearc was one of the best Cocktails that I’ve had which was based on Remi Martin cognac.
This was our first visit to restaurant on recommendation from friends.
It was our anniversary dinner and was a very nice meal and enjoyable setting.
All servers and hostess knew it was out anniversary from the reservation and congratulated us.
There was a special slice of cake with candle to finish off a nice evening.
Not a place to go if in a rush, but to relax and enjoy!
The best restaurant experience I’ve had in San Diego. Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. A trifecta. Food was excellent. I had the fuyu persimmon and satsuma salad. Hubby had the ceasear salad. Both great. Complimentary amuse Buche was wonderful. Duck and short ribs both prepared to perfection. Topped it off with a chocolate cake with pumpkin mouse between layers.
The Market Restaurant and Bar is the Best Dining establishment in the Del Mar/Solana Beach/Rancho Santa Fe and surrounding areas. An outstanding menu that changes weekly with local ingredients, a well thought wine list and service that is almost perfect, there is not another restaurant to consider when you want the absolute best eating experience. Also, during race season at Del Mar you might see legendary horse trainer Bob Baffert, as we did this past Saturday.
Market is an amazing restaurant for fresh ingredients and creative combinations. The soups we ordered were outstanding and our entrees were delicious. This is an expensive restaurant so I recommend it for special occasions but one can easily make a meal of the soups and a salad at the Bar in a casual Friday.
Was in town for the Breeder’s Cup and celebrating our anniversary. Started with cocktails. I had the “new” fashioned. A boozy grapefruit version of the old favorite. Great start. From there we had the avocado/grapefruit salad. Can’t say enough about the flavors of this salad. Pistachios, frisée, arugula and a citrus dressing. Wonderful! The butternut squash soup is not to be missed. With homemade sausage, the smoky flavors are incredible with the sweetness of the squash. For entrees we had the seared yellowfin tuna. We eat a lot of tuna and you may ask what can be so special about seared tuna, and all I can say is the have combined flavors of the tuna with some micro herbs and chili oil, that is almost beyond description. Incredible doesn’t adequately describe. Some of the best flavors and highest quality meals from start to finish. Well done!
Visited from out of town and couldn't have been happier to have stumbled upon this restaurant. We choose this restaurant as it had high reviews amongst the Del Mar area options, however upon leaving we were all in agreement that it was one of the better restaurants that we had ever been to. The menu is very creative and unique, and the product does not disappoint. The staff was beyond friendly and professional, and the food was nothing short of excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and look forward to coming back next time I am in the area. The attention to detail on everything that Market does, from the menu to the service to the food itself is what puts this place over the top. You will not be disappointed eating here!
This is my favorite all time restaurant. Innovative, beautifully presented, perfect ensembles of taste and texture, locally sourced, generous portions. Chef Carl knows his subject well and does not disappoint. Whether appetizer, salad, entre or dessert- and definitely you will want dessert, everything is a great pleasure to eat. Wait staff is friendly, enthusiastic, service oriented and knows the menu well. I was just in town three days and went two nights in a row. His cookbook is also wonderful!
It was amazing, as always.
The chef is hands down unbelievable and the service is fantastic. Still, the best restaurant in North County. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have a special evening that special someone or friends.
When we walked into the place, you get an immediate lively vibe. The bar scene is vibrant, the staff friendly, and drinks were perfect. We were taken to a table right on time with our reservation. The dining area had a nice, trendy, upscale feel. The food was our only let down. It wasn't that it was terrible, and we couldn't partially enjoy it, but the chef tried too hard. When you add lots of sauce or salt, it masks the flavor of the food. The presentation was nice, but over the top in terms of the amount of different additions to a simple dish, and both of us felt our dishes were very saucy and disappointed.
The Market was overall a great experience. We started with the pork shoulder soup, which had a little too much cumin for my taste, and the tuna tartare which was the highlight of the night.--Very fresh with addicting spicy pickles. For entrees my husband had the duck and I had the sole with Dungeness crab. Both were delicious, but a bit rich and over-sauces. We were too full for dessert, but it looked delicious.
