Market by Jean-Georges Restaurant
Lovely spot. Surprised at presence of small children and poorly dressed patrons..not the fault of Market, but often wish there could be a dress code. This place deserves better..
Great!!!! Fantastic restaurant
Food was simply amazing! The staff was very accommodating and suggested that we get appetizers off the bar menu since we wanted shareable ones. Highly recommend!
So nice! Food was prepared beautifully. We ate st restaurants which were much lower caliber during our stay in Vancouver. We were surprised that Market was priced comparably to them. The ambiance was really relaxed but the restaurant is pristine and beautiful. The waitstaff did a great job explaining dishes. Really special night... go!
Superb! The curation, selection, preparation and plating were all excellent.
Flavours were brilliant and the recommendations from the server were spot on.
Lastly, the popcorn and mixed nuts at the bar while we were waiting for our table was a pleasant way to start the meal. I miss having elegant bar snacks before a meal and Market really aced it.
We all had a wonderful night celebrating my mother’s birthday at the Market. Everything was to perfection. The staff were attentive and provide excellent service. We ordered the the tasting menu and you can taste all the flavours in the dishes. The atmosphere is so relaxing and inviting that we were there for over 2 hours. We will definitely be returning.
Wonderful food and ambience with nicely spaced tables. Excellent service with really friendly waiters.
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and were delighted to be given a selection of desserts on a decorated plate with a candle - so sweet! We really enjoyed our evening, thank you for making it so special.
Superb service from the moment we walked in. Given VIP seating. Menu choices were plenty and wine was excellent
The presentation of each entree was very well done.
Food plating has improved since my last visit. Good presentation. Food tasted on the very natural side ie may taste bland for most people BUT was good for us. 5th visit, overall quite a good dinner experience.
Excellent food. Definitely the highlight.
Great service. Entering through the glass elevator was confusing because we were asked to pass what appeared to be the greeting point.
Service was great.
Slightly on the pricey side, however this wasn't a surprise for us. Great work, will go again.
Why would a celebrity chef serves bacon and eggs? I came all the way to Canada to try the food of a celebrity chef but all they served was breakfast eggs!
Dear Chan, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am disappointed to see that you scored us 1 in all areas. With the menu selection, we do serve a number of signature items at brunch that are not eggs which may have been more to your liking. As we are in the Shangri-la Hotel we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, I would suggest joining us for dinner to better experience the wide range of dishes on our menus. I hope you will consider dining with us again. Thank you, Mitchell Kerr
Top notch. Great food and service. Was surprised with a birthday card and dessert. Can’t wait to come back
We were staying at the hotel and booked our last meal here before setting off to the airport.
We were seated in a great place - in the corner by a floor to ceiling window. Great views of the street.
We were not too hungry so asked if we could split an appetiser and main between us and this wasn’t a problem. We were given our own plates and cutlery so we could pick what we wanted when the food arrived.
Once again, both courses were excellent and Vana provided a splendid service.
A very enjoyable meal.
Vana is the best! Came here for lunch and Vana provided us with the best service! Better than its dinner service! Will come back for sure
Food and service was excellent
Consistently excellent experience. Wonderful tasting menu. Exceptional service. Refined atmosphere. A pleasure.
We were staying at the Shangri-La and previously had had breakfast there which had been superb so choosing to eat in 'Market' was an easy choice.
Bobby, our waiter, couldn't do enough to ensure that our experience was one to remember - and he didn't fail. All courses were excellent and specifically the Angus beef which was so tasty and exceedingly tender. My wife had the beef from the 'Simply Cooked' side of the menu and I had it from the 'Entrée" side and both choices were a big hit.
After dinner drinks were at the bar and Tim does a great cocktail.
Overall, an excellent night.
Thank you so much. That was an awesome breakfast. The service was outstanding and I left a good tip.
We had a private dinner for 20 people and they totally took care of us for a very reasonable price
Excelentes servicio y comida.
The place to rub elbows with celebrities
Always consistent with their amazing service, food and ambience.
Great evening spent at The Market
Good atmosphere, service and most importantly food
A big thanks to our waiter “Scouse Bobby” who really looked after us
Terry and ANN
A great restaurant and experience. The ambiance, food and service were superb.
The food was delicious and the portions are generous. The service was attentive but not bothersome. They have a wonderful wine that is from Oregon that is a blend of 4 white wines. Fabulous! An elegant place to dine.
Pre-cruise holiday dinner with my wife. Impressive food &!service
Service was great - food had barely any seasoning.
I was expecting exceptional, but I found the meal very good but nothing special
Great service, excellent food
Pleasant, attentive service.
We had a memorable evening, great food, spectacular service in a beautiful setting. Truly a special place and a wonderful experience.
Food was fabulous, service was fantastic!
The epitome of accessible upscale dining. The Jean-Georges name is what attracted me to the restaurant, and my expectations of the food were surpassed. The atmosphere within the Shangri-La hotel was exclusive yet not too stuffy. Our server was very nice and accommodating in helping me choose a wine to my liking. We had some pleasant conversation.
The food was absolutely to-die-for. The seasonal soup (mushroom with truffle) was unctuous and rich. My spring pea and mushroom risotto was rich and flavorful, and my scallop add-ons were hands down the best scallops I have ever tasted in my life - sweet, firm, with a perfect hard sear. They were the example of what a scallop should be. My friend's Halibut was so good she ate the entire thing, which she can never do. Unfortunately, our savory meals were so good we couldn't make room for dessert.
The dining experience alone made me regretful I hadn't booked a stay at the hotel. Next time, I definitely will, and we'll eat at Market again for sure.
We went to have a late lunch at Market by Jean-Georges. The decor is glamorous but understated. The service is impeccable. The food is exquisite. The salmon salad was delicious with large steelhead pieces and a scrumptious dressing. I ordered a side of fries: they were crunchy and flavourful. My friend ordered the pasta with truffles with a side of scallops; she savoured them to the last forkful. The Chai Tea Tart served with coconut ice cream was divine!
The variety of cocktails, wine and food make Market a great option for dinner. It's quiet and intimate without feeling crowded. The service can vary a bit depending on how new the staff is and how busy the restaurant gets, but typically is attentive and professional.
So pleased to dine in this lovely restaurant. It was our daughter’s birthday and the restaurant made a lovely birthday plate with desert .
Wonderful to not have loud music in the background!
The black truffle scrambled eggs were excellent
The stuffed chicken sausage was phenomenal
The waitress was a bit pushy, but that isn't a big deal
From the moment we arrived, the staff were professional and courteous. We were celebrating a birthday and they were
We had a wonderful meal at Market to celebrate our daughter's graduation. The staff all made such a fuss of her and made her feel very special indeed. The food was delicious and they offered a very extensive vegetarian and vegan menu which was the reason we booked this restaurant. It didn't disappoint!
If there was to be one criticism - turn off the air conditioning. The day itself had been very warm and sunny but there really was no need for the air conditioning in the evening. Constructive feedback only intended as it was a very lovely evening of which we will have fond memories celebrating.
