Maritime Parc Ratings and Reviews
The octopus was excellent. The vegetable side was amazing. The risotto was ok. The restaurant wasn't as fancy as I expected. Too bright and casual. I was expecting something more romantic. The restaurant was very loud. I was also surprised with how casual it was. People were really dressed "down" for a Saturday night at a restaurant that was just rated top 20 in NJ. I was expecting an ambiance more like The Charthouse. I was a bit disappointed.
Outstanding in every way. Great marina and city views. Extensive and reasonably priced wine list. Very affordable menu options are diverse and creative. All of our appetizers
(tuna tartare, octopus and seasonal salad) and dinner choices (scallops, black cod and lobster casserole) excelled. Highly recommended.
Wonderful fresh farm-to-table food with an appealing and creative menu. Loved the dessert menu too! Our server was attentive to our needs and very engaging. The bar drinks were beautifully served and nicely made. My husband asked the bartender her secret for the old-fashioned that he had ordered and she was nice enough to tell him! We would definitely recommend this restaurant and hope to go back again.
The restaurant is beautiful and has incredible views. Great indoor and outdoor seating areas. The wait staff was super polite, but seemed a little disjointed from each other. The menu was great, but the execution of some of the dishes left a little to be desired. The cocktails from the bar was great. All in all, a good overall dining experience.
It was my 1 year anniversary, my husband and I got married at Maritime Parc and decided to go back to reminisce. The entire staff, including the manager, made a point to congratulate us, talk about the wedding, etc. The staff is always so friendly, and I've eaten at the restaurant numerous times. The food at Maritime is always amazing and delicious. It was a beautiful night out so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the view of the Hudson. I can not recommend this place enough. I always have a great time there, I can not wait to bring my friends there for a lunch date!
Good and friendly service: check.
Very nice modern decor, waterfront and view of JC and NYC: check.
Very good food: check - although the chocolate dessert was disappointing (too sweet) compared to the rest of the meal, which was very good.
Outstanding : 2 tasting menus ($55 4-courses, $85 6-courses) both excellent, with wine pairing proposed
Even more outstanding : all bottles > $60 were... discounted at half price ! You can't beat that.
Overall excellent address, will come back and our friends too
My husband & I frequent Maritime Parc- the restaurant- menu, cocktails, wine list, ambience & staff are always exceptional. There are many fantastic restaurants in the NYC & NJ area-but not many that combine a beautiful one- of -a-kind view with excellent food & drink-
Nice place, but definitely should take dressy out of the description of the resto. Most people were in shorts on a hot summer night would have been good to know and when called they said business casual. More like summer casual. Also could use some updating in the decor/restrooms
The restaurant ran out of certain appetizers. Then my entree came without my husbands and no side dishes were served at the same time. My entree portion was so small it was more like a appetizer. I had ordered oysters and wound up biting oyster shell pieces which were mixed in the oyster meat. My husband finally received his salmon burger and after eating it we discovered his mouth was bleeding. We still don't know what caused that. This restaurant was listed as a top 25 from NJ Monthly. Someone needs to come back to re-evaluate. I was very disappointed. The food was so so and the overall service poor. The kitchen needs time management lessons.
The first time we went... and probably the last. There were 5 of us, and we all did the 6- course tasting menu. Service was pretty bad- all wait staff, aside from 1 waiter at another table, and the manager, were new. Many of them did not know how to juggle 3 dishes at once from the kitchen. Our own waiter spilled the wine while pouring, and we had to actually ask him to come back and wipe it up and take the menus away after ordering. All the waiters, aside from the manager, consistently reached over others to pass food, instead of going to the other side of the table. The food was okay, but for $85 per person, way overpriced. One dish was a lobster dish. Chunks of lobster in pasta. One member of our group brought it to the attention of our waiter that theirs barely had any lobster, let alone "chunks". He initially said that's how it was, until we pressed him and he said he could ask the kitchen what they could do. When he came back he said the chef agreed that there was no lobster, but added, " it's out of my hands". Service professionals should know what the dishes are and take it right away. The cod and pork belly were good; had we known, we would've ordered a la carte instead and saved some money. At this point, will not be returning. Wait staff needs a ridiculous amount of training; service did not reflect the price we paid for the meal.
Was there for our 1 st year wedding anniversary. We got married at Maritime Parc a year ago and made a reservation noting our 1 yr anniversary, confirmed it via call with the hostess and the waiter still didn't know it was our 1st year anniversary. Totally awkward to remind the waiter a 3rd time. They drop the ball in remembering to do anything special. If they can't remember to treat former clients who dropped a lot of $$$ for their wedding then I can't imagine how they will treat non clients. Such a shame.
My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary at Maritime Parc. The beautiful interior of the restaurant paired with exceptional service and delicious seafood made our experience unforgettable. I cannot say enough good things about the food- from the oysters to the 4 Course menu to the deserts. I will absolutely be back for their Thursday specials and excellent cocktails!
I booked this restaurant for my 21st wedding anniversary, and requested a table with a nice view of the NYC skyline in the reservation. On the day of the reservation, I was called and asked if they could push my reservation 15 minutes later, and I accommodated. I figured there would be valet parking, but there was nobody outside, so we self-parked.
When we arrived, they said they didn't have any tables available in the restaurant with a view, and they offered to seat us outside. We did that and the view from the available tables was part of the marina in Jersey City and some bushes. We had to stand up to see the city. This view on their homepage is very zoomed in. The table was tiny and the seats were cheap plastic.
After we were seated, 10-15 minutes passed before we were brought water and gave our drink orders. We ordered our food then, too, since we figured service was slow. The draft beer and wine took another 15 minutes to get to us. More than a half hour later, we received our entrees - nice presentation, but my filet mignon was over-cooked and not particularly hot.
During this time, the restaurant was not full at all.
I never write reviews but had to share this disappointing experience. Let me preface this review by saying that we were married at Maritime Parc in September of 2015 and have had numerous great meals at this restaurant. We had a Friday night reservation and when we arrived the hostess told us it would be up to an hour wait for a table outdoors (even though we could see that people were paying their bills). We waited and luckily were seated literally 5 minutes later. Our waiter came by and offered us menus. Everything was going smoothly until we were ready to order. 15 minutes go by… our waiter’s attention is on one diner and his obsession with wine, or maybe uncertainty of what it is he enjoys. Over the course of our meal, this diner ordered and returned 3 bottles of wine and monopolized the attention of at least 2 different waiters/managers. Unfortunately, with each order and return, it meant a lot of attention from our waiter and little attention for us. We finally ordered and I told the waiter no ham in my fish entree. When our food arrived, ham came on the fish. I wanted to say something but our waiter was glued to the annoying customer next to us and never came over to see how our meal was or if we needed anything. The busboy cleared the food and brought our check, and when the waiter finally came over to take the bill, I mentioned that ham was on the fish. He was slightly apologetic but blamed the annoying customer next to us for the bad service, and he didn't offer us anything (like a comped drink or dessert) to make up for his errors and lack of service. Yes, we understand there was a high maintenance diner, but that doesn't mean everyone else should suffer. As we left, we went to get our parking validated by the hostess, who may have been the unfriendliest person on earth. After having so many great meals and memories at this restaurant, this dinner left a bad taste in our mouths, and I'm not sure if we will return.
Very disappointed in our whole experience Asked for a window seat one month in advance. Tried to seat us at a table with an obstructed view and right next to the service station. They did change our seat when we asked. Service was absolutely terrible. Waited at least 20 minutes before a drink order was taken Waited another 15 minutes for our wine. Drink order for only two people was incorrect. One drink did not have lime-when requested they claimed they were out of limes. On a Saturday night at 7:15?? Menus never cleared off table until we asked. Wine never poured until we asked. Food was ok, but nothing special. All in all a negative experience for a restaurant that was rated one of New Jersey's best.
