Enjoyed our meal very much. Service was timely and food was delicious.
Best place for lunch in Honolulu. Great food, great service with a view!
Good food. Great service.
Seated with reservation right away...good friendly service.....
Service was good and enjoyable. Bread was disappointingly overcooked/burnt.
Food is good, service and staff is especially welcoming and friendly. Always a positive experience.
Excellent service and food.
This dinner service was completely better than the service i received on December 28.
Table and view was perfect ambiance. Most of all our server was knowledgeable about the menu, the special of the night and drinks.
The server was attentive to our need even before we ask he was offering service.
Wonderful service and the food was excellent. Nice présentation.
One of my favorite lunch venues in Honolulu. Great ambience, high ceilings with plantation style fans, open and bright with great views of the beach park. Menu has significantly improved in terms of quality and offerings. Very friendly and attentive staff. My go to choice is the crab salad. Excellent.
We’ve been here many times before and service and Kitchen is getting worse. So disappointing. We chose to come here to celebrate New Year’s Day. We had a reservation but had to wait to be seated. Restaurant was 3/4 full. We then sat at our table for 20 minutes before our waiter came to introduce himself and take our drink order (he was slammed so I don’t blame him). It took forever for appetizers and then for entrees to come. We were ready to pull our hair out waiting so long. I ordered the butternut squash pasta with shrimp and when it was finally served, the squash and onions were way undercooked and had blobs of squash purée dumped on it. I’ve ordered this dish before and it’s been good. The squash is not supposed to be crunchy and rubbery! The waiter offered to have the kitchen redo it but I couldn’t bare waiting any longer. I was hungry! I tried to eat it but couldn’t so had him take it away. He took it off the bill but that didn’t help make my experience any less miserable and I went home hungry. I was told by a staffer that the kitchen was short-handed because of the holidays. Management needs to make sure they can staff the restaurant before accepting reservations. We were there for 3 hours! I do a lot of business lunches there but will now think twice before going again.
Quality goes down, which is too bad. No more butter knife to go with the popover, which is no longer warm when serving.
The price fixe menu for New Years Eve was very good, although some of the portions were laughably small. The meal was very expensive at $130 per person without any beverage including water. At that price wine pairings should have been provided for at least dessert. Even coffee was an extra charge.
Great venue, great views , interesting and exotic menu, great service. A relaxing meal, no rush between courses. recommend be there at sunset, as we were.
Only negative: the Wagyu beef was mostly tough and hard to chew.
I usually do not like savory dishes containing coconut milk but found Mariposa's Laksa Seafood Curry to be really delicious and will surely order it again. My family and I had another great dinner at Mariposa and especially enjoyed the consistently fine service by Mr. Kawamoto's staff.
I usually have the crab salad but decided to try something different and was glad I did. Now I have two things on my "usual" list. Always enjoy Mariposa - haven't been disappointed yet in almost 20 years.
Hostess was rude and dismissive- should consider more training in high end customer service. Food was great and our server was fantastic.
Service was not at is usual standards.
Everything was request from asking the server to inform us of the special of the day, refill of water. Did not have the regular bake bread and substitute by heavy Sugary what they call bread.
Sever could not answer request on wine. He seem to have trouble to open the bottle of wine.
Server need more training.
On positive note:
We had a nice table with a beautiful view.
The bottle of wine was cold and it was delicious
Since we were celebrating a birthday the server surprise us with a small desert with a candle. That was a nice touch.
We enjoyed our time there. The server was really nice and let us chat for a bit. It’s been awhile since I have seen my best friend.
The meal was delicious, I ordered the Mariposa burger and my friend ordered the Ahi Salad because they ran out of the crab sandwich, which was on special. We each had a popover and enough to sustain us throughout the time we were there.
Overall we were pretty happy :)
Receptionist was so-so. Server and compatriots were excellent. Quality of food was so-so to poor. Surprising for such an establishment.
Service was quite excellent. Popovers were delivered frequently while still warm. Wait staff was knowledgable and helpful especially with indecisive members of our party. They were very informed of the menu and were excellent in describing the menu. I opted for the lobster blt. I was a bit disappointed in part due to comparing it to a version my friend used to serve. It had good flavor but the Japanese style sandwich bread just wasn’t up to the task. The portobello mushroom appetizers were fantastic and everyone else loved their food. They allowed us to linger for an excessively long time which was great. We had not seen each other for years and it was a great venue to catch up. Will return again!
Great view of the Friday night fireworks show by the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
The restaurant offered us everything we hoped for. My brother visiting me from Japan loved the sunset view. Great food, great service, and great vibe. 10/10 recommend!
We had lunch on the day when we arrived in Hawaii after a long flight. The dish was very delicious and the atmosphere was great as we expected. But we felt shaking sometimes. I was wondering what caused this feeling.
After some quick and furious after Christmas sale shopping, relaxing to lunch at the Mariposa is the best idea ever! I was thankful that I had the foresight to make a reservation as they were turning people away that did not have reservations. The service is always good and our waiter was attentive but not in our face. I was at first put off by the older receptionist in the front as I was asked if I wanted inside or outside seating and not being able to decide I asked what she thought and she was a little curt in saying "it's really up to you" . Didn't know if maybe she's made suggestions before and then been told it wasn't good or what but I thought, I wouldn't have asked you if I didn't want your opinion. So I was thankful for our server who was in good spirits and chuckled at himself when he first stated "Happy New Year" then realized we weren't that far in the calendar yet. The food is always good. My son had the burger and I had the lobster club. As always I opt to eat half my meal to save room for the affogato! Upon finishing our meal, our server wished us a "Merry New Year" as we all chuckled and left to continue shopping.
