Magical views, great food food and excellent service
Ate outside and unfortunately it was hot. But staff really on top of cleanliness.
No doubt the best restaurant views in Sedona, and there are a lot of great ones! If you have a chance, ask to sit in Salvador's section. He's a first-class waiter and is welcoming and engaging... you might just be friends by the time you finish dessert.
Delicious food! Great service! Amazing views! We love to dine here every time we are in Sedona!
Love it! Great service and amazing view
First class from start to finish. Everything was incredible. Can not wait to come back
The service and attentiveness was excellent...... the restaurant is very attractive and the views are outstanding.... but the prices are inflated as compared to Lisa's other two restaurants (not counting Pizza Lisa.... which I also don't care for).
Because it is "overpriced", I guess this is a place you can (and probably should) say you visited "once", just to say you went there and tried it, and the experience.
Really remarkable food, drinks and views. Perfect for a special occasion or date.
Very attentive and knowledgeable wait staff and large portions for the price (quality very good!)
My favorite restaurant. Everything was amazing
Mariposa is an absolutely fabulous restaurant ! The service was great, the food was nothing less than delicious and the view was stunning. We found it without reading any reviews and we are so happy that we did ! We highly recommend the skirt steak, the presentation and the flavor was great. And the empanada's wee the perfect appetizer choice !! If you are in the Sedona area, you must dine here !! Well done Mariposa, well done...
Perfect views, wonderful service, delicious food
Bobby was an amazing server coupled with the margaritas, filet and lamp chops. Divine!
Mariposa never disappoints! And if you get the pleasure to be served by Dawn - it’s a win/win!
I love this restaurant! We live locally and consider Mariposa our go-to choice for any celebration. The views are drop dead gorgeous and the waitstaff has an eye for detail. They are attentive without being overbearing. Tables are spaced far enough to be safe which also gives a drop in the sound level. The menu offerings lean towards Argentinian beef with local sides such as elote and Mac and cheese with Hatch chilies. So good!
My experience at Mariposa was exceptional from start to finish. They were able to make a slight accommodation for my girlfriends birthday and took care of us with exceptional service and the food was amazing. I will be coming back here every time I am in Sedona!
The service was excellent. The view from our table was spectacular and the sea food dish was memorable.
Food and service was great. The octopus is to die for.
We enjoyed the entire package.. The ambiance of the restaurant and the view was spectacular. Food was amazing and beautifully presented. We started with beef empanadas, split a Caesar salad, ordered lamb and chicken for our entrees and finished it off by sharing a piece of key lime pie. Your waiting staff and both the gate hostess and the door hostess were friendly and welcoming ... Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and the rest of the staff friendly and helpful.
The place is great. The food is great. The cost is great! This place is not for the weak at heart! Bring two wallets.
The food was very over priced...I have rib-eye steak, which I love and it was terrible. I have grave doubts that the beef was prime but mostly choice cut. Cost was $42 ++ for just the steak and another $11 ++ for a half-of-a-cup of mushrooms. Rib-eye is a great marbled beef cut and this "thing" was covered with Hard Fat...that tasted is terrible and was impossible to eat. After showing the waiter the pile of hard fat that I removed he got the management to take the cost off the bill. However, the question is why did the kitchen use this meat in the first place. As soon as the plate was on our table both my wife and I could see it was mostly hard fat. $42 for a piece of meat that should never have been cooked and of course, pricing additions [mushroom, or potatoes, or a green] for $11-$23 is just criminal. Great views...buy a drink off outside and go some place else for good food.
Just a fabulous environment excellence staff, visually stunning eating experience
From welcome to goodbye, the staff was incredibly gracious and knowledgeable from the wine to service to food! Thank you for the sparkling wine recommendation, Calvin - it was phenomenal! Thank you, Laco - you’re a complete joy! The food delicious and savory. Particularly the scallop tapas and filet mignonette. For dessert, the panna cotta is smoothly sweet with a soft crunch of pistachios. Everyone made my husband’s birthday an event! We’ll definitely be back soon...
I can recommend Mariposa for tapas and drinks. The empanadas, tuna lettuce wraps and scallops were fantastic. We moved on to dinner and had the curry chicken, filet and Flores Del Mar - honestly the tapas were better than the entrees. We had several cocktails as well - they were all pretty good. The service is top notch. Overall, I recommend this experience but save your appetite for The Hudson.
Wow!!! This place is amazing. We had a great dining experience. The views are amazing. The service was excellent and the food did not disappoint.
Food brilliant. Service outstanding. Views, don’t get any better.
Location, Location, Location! AMAZING food - view has to be one of the best in Sedona! A bit pricey but it's one of those special places!
We decided to return to Mariposa when heading to Sedona for a quick getaway from the heat in Phoenix - and we are so glad we did. We know that going out in the COVID-19 era of dining can be a different experience. We were thrilled to discover that Mariposa has an extremely well executed plan to check guest in, bring them to well spaced tables and then offer fabulous food and service. We started with the grilled corn empanadas which were tasty and light. We shared a tomato salad which was also yummy. I had the vegetarian stuffed green chili and my husband had steak with lemon mashed potatoes. Not to pass on dessert, the key lime pie was fabulous- not too sweet or heavy. Throughout dinner we had attentive service from mask wearing waiters and team. We can’t say enough positive things and will definitely return on our next visit.
I took my wife to Mariposa for her birthday dinner- made reservations 6 days before and informed them in their “special requests” what the occasion was.
When we arrived (20 minutes early to my delight) we were informed by the hostess that we would be sitting on the patio and they were just clearing the table and it would be about 5 minutes. The scenery is spectacular there and asked the hostess if we could step over briefly and take a few photos with a response of “Take your time!”
When we walked back to the hostess 5 minutes later- she called the wrong name for the reservation- and when I corrected her she said “Uh oh.” We were walked through the restaurant and sat at a bench style table with the comment “and this is the best seat in the house”- behind 25 foot glass with the lights reflecting and ruining the view. When we inquired about the patio seating it was quickly brushed under the rug and no explanation ever came.
If that was all that occurred (granted putting a damper on the night) all would have been well. Instead, because my wife and I were trying to enjoy our time and not hustle through the night- I was ignored by the waiter on 7 separate occasions as he checked in on the table around us- with my empty water glass and beverage cup sitting on the complete end of the table.
Then comes the food- both my wife and I ordered their ribeye 14oz (unfortunately they were out of the bone in ribeye)- and they both came out hockey puck well done. After showing the waiter the food (one bite in) he apologizes and runs to the kitchen to make it right. They bring out 2 steaks a few minutes later- luckily one was perfect and an actual ribeye- the other was again well done and a New York Strip- not even the right cut of meat.
I asked for the manager- who argued that the steak was a ribeye (later admitted it wasn’t) and comped the steak I didn’t get to eat and the already free birthday desert (which we didn’t want).
If I could give 0 stars I would.
First of all I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews, but since our experience was so bad and nothing was done by management I feel the need to post this. This was our 2nd time in a restaurant since early March due to the Covid shutdown. We were so excited as our last experience at Mariposa was amazing so we were really looking forward to it. When we arrived we were impressed with the safety precautions put in place, but things went downhill quickly. The toilets in the women’s restrooms weren’t flushing so I had to wait until they fixed the issue. We ordered cocktails and the drink must have spilled on the glass as it was super sticky and gross to touch. My husband ordered a glass of wine and the pour was ridiculously small so we ordered a bottle which was the same price as 4 glasses so we could control the pour. The Atun Parfait appetizer was amazing. I had the chicken-amazing! My husband had the halibut-terrible! It was dry and crumbly and his side dishes were cold. He mentioned it to the server and was offered a free dessert-thank you. Now to the low rating on ambiance...It should have been 5 stars-the view and atmosphere is incredible, but they seated problem customers next to us. They were incredibly loud and obnoxious. They had their feet up on the bench. And to top it off they made out through the majority of the evening. On my way out I mentioned how disappointing our overall experience was and the manager apologized and said they thought they had done the right thing by placing the problem customers in a corner. Well, we were sitting in that corner too so thanks for the consideration. Scott told me next time we come back to ask for him and he would take care of us. Um too little too late? I’m not sure there will be a next time due to the inconsideration we felt.
The kitchen was completely backed up we did not eat dinner until 10pm and our reservation was at 8pm, the food was thrown on the plate with zero care and the mashed potatoes were lukewarm thank goodness the manager comped us for the meal I would have been extremely upset to pay over $150 for that! Our server seemed really embarrassed it wasn’t his fault, such a shame because the restaurant is beautiful obviously just a really bad night.
Food was not equivalent to the price; sent the rack of lamb back twice, couldn’t eat either attempt, the first one was overcooked and cold like it had been sitting under a lamp and then just sitting for a long time. The second attempt was raw inside and burnt outside, like they just seared a lamb rack on extremely high heat; the third try was a Filet Mignon, ordered medium rare, and again no good completely raw inside and didn’t bother to send back, since by then the rest of my party was done with their meals, and ready to leave. It’s very disappointing to write such a poor review, as I had such high expectations and really enjoyed the view and ambiance, but you just can’t spend over $500 in a restaurant and walk away o that poor of a food experience.
It pains me to write anything negative about one of my most favorite restaurants. We made reservations and were lucky enough to get patio dining for my birthday while visiting Sedona. We LOVE Mariposa as it's always serve stellar food with great service.
BUT, the ceviche was lacking flavor and in particular seasoning! WHAT?! No cilantro? It was disappointing but the Halibut was nice and flavorful. The skinny Lisa rita was about 3 ounces with lots of ice so not worth $16!! the food was good but not up to par as it was pre Covid-19. We last ate there Valentine's and it was fabulous. Not so much now. Danny was our server and engaging in the beginning but we finished our dinner at 9:30, our reservations were 7:30, but we didn't get out of there until 10:20!! the guys ordered ice cream and it took 30 minutes to get?!?! Then more time for the check, not sure what happened to Danny but he dropped the ball big time!
Although the location of Mariposa affords some of the most breath taking views on the Planet, it is their World Class Staff, Service, and Cuisine I wish to complement. With out a doubt from when you first arrive to when you reluctantly need to leave, you will have just enjoyed a pampered culinary experience that is almost sensory overload. To the attentive General Manager Scott who personally visited our placement in perfection, to our over achieving personal servers Danny, Gill, and their support team members, my Wife and I Thank You.
Friendliest service ever and incredibly tasty food. The view is amazing as well. The “pollo rustica” is a must try!!
This was a very romantic setting. The view was spectacular. We enjoyed our first visit to Mariposa. We will make this our go - to spot when we visit Sedona. It was incredible!
We had an early dinner reservation at 4:30. It’s a lovely, well decorated restaurant with Latin flair. The view is magnificent from any table. We had A bottle of Justin wine recommended by waiter. The wine was just what we like. I ordered the halibut for dinner and it was delicious. My husband ordered the poblano stuffed chili which was very good. Our whole dining experience was wonderful. Will be back for sure.
After being closed for several months because of the covid-19 the restaurant did not miss a beat still amazing absolutely highly recommend best restaurant in Sedona.
Excellent food, view, and service! Beautiful experience!
