The cuisine is Latin Inspired, primarily from Chef Dahl’s interactions with chef’s in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Chef Lisa Dahl and her team focus on premium ingredients and many of the herbs are grown in the herb gardens in the restaurant courtyard. All meats and seafoods come from the very best sources – such as Newport and Beelers for the meats. For years Lisa has insisted on all organic vegetables from Arizona.
We are thrilled to offer pick up and return service to our West Sedona restaurants from your accommodations. Our luxury sprinter can handle parties of up to 11.
After several recommendations we booked a table. The only table available for several days was at 8:45 on a Tuesday. We arrived at 8:00pm to find a restaurant that was half full and we were seated immediately. That in itself seemed odd. We then order drinks and took a look at the menu. I then ordered the special based on the waiters suggestion and my wife ordered the mango grilled jumbo shrimp and a side of brussel sprouts . To say that the food came quickly would be an understatement, it was fast , too fast. My fish dinner was the quality of a low end buffet!!! It was not as described. The shrimp dish was supposed to include mango salsa, couldn’t find it! The brussel sprouts where absolutely excellent even if they where ice cold on delivery! Reviews are not my thing but I have never been more motivated to share my opinion. Beware
It was expensive but not overpriced by my standards but I live in a resort town too. I had the veal chop and it was not perfectly cooked after I asked to have it the way the chef wanted me to have it. I guess the chef thought I should have it more done than I'd cooked it. I own a meat company and I'm very fussy. If I went back, I'd order the strip steak.
Go see the sunset and enjoy delicious food with great service.
Excellent! Service, food and views! A must see when in Sedona.
Thank you for a wonderful finale to our week in Sedona! After days of hiking and taking in the amazing Sedona Yoga Festival, our dinner and experience at Mariposa was like icing on a most delicious cake. We will happily return :)
Amazing views, food and service. My Ribeye was cooked to perfection and loved the creamed kale.
Great view, bad service. Decent food, but not nearly good enough for the price. If you're dying to try, would recommend coming for a drink at sunset.
We celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary at Mariposa. Everything was fantastic....the view, our table, the waitress and of course, the food. Loved our bottle of wine also. Definitely recommend Mariposa for a special occasion that you will always remember.
Very crowded Saturday night but they efficiently handled our reservation. Ambiance is off the charts as well as the sensually tasteful food and attentive service.
Diego, our server, was excellent.
Beautiful view excellent food and service. Very enjoyable evening. Went with 3 kids
The view at sunset was amazing! It’s a good thing the view is worth every penny paid for this meal, because the food was disappointing. I had the 14oz ribeye steak that was seasoned perfectly, but was over cooked and at least 9 oz was fat and gristle. My wife’s filet was also over cooked. The lemon mashed potato’s with lobster was the star of the night along with the delicious shrimp cocktail. Also very good was the Brussels sprouts. The service was just ok. When your at a top notch steak house and leave a plate of fat and grisly meat on the plate, your server should address what was obviously a bad steak. I assume by all the great reviews on the food that we were just unlucky tonight.
Thank you for the wonderful experience and being willing to cater to my girlfriend's peanut allergy with such detail.
Great, but had a really hard time finding something for the kids to eat.
We reserved a table two weeks in advance for a 7:30pm table of four. The online pictures of the restaurant seating are beautiful views of the Sedona Red rocks and gave me the impression that all the tables had views. Unfortunately, we were seated in a back area, similar to a cafeteria, without a view. For a starter/appetizer we ordered the fried avocado which came out quickly, but cold. I then ordered the trio of seafood which included lobster tail, grilled shrimp and scallops. The plate also came out quickly but cold and undercooked. Two members of our group ordered the skirt steak which they both enjoyed. The other person in our party ordered the mac and cheese which came out hot, but lacked flavor. The general feeling is that we were being rushed through the dinner and we did not enjoy the experience, ambience or value.
Beautiful ambiance. Really good food. Our server John was attentive albeit a bit fast. Maybe too many tables. He was helpful and informative about the menu. We were speaking to him about wine but he left our table before we could place an order. All else was wonderful though. We like to share an app, entree and dessert so that we get to taste a bit of each course. All delicious. We’ve been here before and will definitely be back.
Outstanding scenery - got there in time for sunset. Always good food (steaks, Lisa's salad), drinks and service.
Ambiance was perfect. Food was excellent and flavorful. The overall experience was diminished by the treatment I received from our server when I politely asked about recommendations to accommodate my food allergy. [I am self conscious and apologetic for my allergy as I have been told to either stay home or asked why must you subject your allergies on others] Our server had no problem suggesting drinks and appetizers, however when I inquired about suggestions to accommodate my food allergy, complete attitude change. He was gone for 15 minutes before he came back to scold me and snap, "you are limited to meat entrees, I am guessing you need more time?" My daughter and I did order drinks and meat entrees. I was expecting the menu to be pricey and that did not deter us from going. Our bill was $166 and I struggled with a tip amount. I am not a diner who creates and scene and rants and raves about food, drink, etc., it is not about "getting comped or given a discount" it is about professional customer service and making patrons feel appreciated for the amount they are spending. Although I did feel as though our server deserved no tip, I did give him 25% as I could not lower myself to the level of disrespect that he showed me. Apparently he did not approve of his tip, as when he brought the "change" I said you may keep it. He rolled his eyes and walked away without a word. My daughter and I frequent Sedona and try new restaurants as well as return to favorites each visit, I unfortunately cannot recommend Mariposa based on my experience.
We loved this place! The atmosphere is BEAUTIFUL and the view is SPECTACULAR! The food is divine and special. Our waiter, Chris, was great and very accommodating when we told him we were headed to a star gazing event after dinner so we had a time limit. Eat here if you are in Sedona! We are so glad we did. It is pricey but worth every penny!!
I sent a couple that was in visiting last month, and I have 2 friends that are coming this evening.
The food and view was excellent and our server Mateo was great! We will definitely be back next time we make a trip to Sedona.
Made our reservation a month in advance however they shoved us next to the valet parking lot view. Asked to move they said no. All we saw was a metal screen separating us from the other side. The food was okay service sub par. Worst dining experience since being out here. If you want the view you apparently have to “request” it. Rude staff. I don’t need to go bank.
Erin was a terrific server! Our filet was perfectly cooked.
Loved the Augratin potatoes!
Mariposa was amazing. We made a reservation and were greeted at the door and seated in seconds. The server was amazing made us feel welcomed and very patient and knowledgeable of the menu. The buss boys were constantly walking around filling water and clearing empty dishes. The views are obviously great but the decor inside and out was beautiful as well.
Great food and generous portions. Prices were very reasonable for the type of dining experience. Beautiful restaurant. We were there after sunset, so unfortunately missed the surrounding grounds.
A bit uneven. Food was good, not quite cooked to order. Service was wanting, not what one would expect from a high end steak house. Probably would not recommend this restaurant to others. The highlight was the drinks prepared at the bar for us while we were waiting for our table. But even that was diminished by the impersonal notification that our table was ready via text, and having to carry our drinks first to the hostess stand where we were not promptly greeted and having to carry our drinks through the dining room to our table.
Very Impressive--friendly service, food, décor, ambience and comfort.. the views of the Sedona landscape is disputable..
We LOVED this restaurant! Food was delicious & atmosphere was great!
Great ambience but quality of food not as good as expected
Thank you Lisa and staff for making our first year anniversary so special! The ambiance, the amazing food, the wait staff, the violin player, the beautiful decor, the breath taking views! We were wished a happy Anniversary many times throughout the night which was so special! We also were given a special desert with a cute special anniversary chocolate. Our night was magical! We have tried three of the four restaurants by lisa and they are all great! She hires well and pays attention to the details! Thank you for such a memorable experience!
What a spectacular spot! The food was fantastic (elotes are a must) and the vibe was upscale artsy with a magical desert tinge. We will definitely be coming back here on our next visit to Sedona.
The staff is very attentive, helpful and can accommodate changes to the plate you might order
It was one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. I hate to say that and I was extremely disappointed. We expected it to be a special place. Guess what? It isn't.
I had such a lovely experience BUT it was at our own hand. Waiter couldn’t have been more disingenuous to us our our experience. If it was up to him we would have been in and out in 40 minutes and up sale us every item.
Tip: order one course at a time - enjoy the amazing view and have your own experience.
This is a do not miss in Sedona! Go for sunset timing! Every dish was carefully concepted and just delicious. The cocktail menu also has lots of inventive choices. We came in at 5pm and really enjoyed watched the sunset over the red rocks. Wait staff is charming and knowledgeable.
Would give this one 10 stars if possible!
The ambiance, service and the room itself is absolutely unbelievable. Would highly suggest to anyone going on a date, or celebrating a special occasion. As an appetizer, we ordered the empanada special with pork and found it good, but not the best we've had. I ordered the tiger prawns with mac and cheese and creamed kale, all delicious! My husband ordered the $100 32oz tomahawk steak and he found it very fatty. Our server was AMAZING, she had some great wine pairing suggestions and the staff were very pleasant. The decor and the location of the restaurant are unreal.
Visited while in town. Cesar was our waiter. Had the corner table for 6. Great service, wonderful drink and food was really good. Very attentive service and never felt rushed during the sunset. Will definitely go back when in town again.
Though expensive, the meal was fantastic! Everything we ordered was amazing and the views were spectacular. Great spot for a special occasion or splurge dinner! You won't be disappointed.
Gorgeous restaurant, excellent service and superb food! Another of our favorite places to visit on our girls trip! We were celebrating another birthday and they treated us like royalty! We normally sit on the beautiful patio with breathtaking views. It was too cold so we were seated inside. We didn't realize you still can enjoy the views from inside. This is our 3rd visit and now a tradition!
Great experience...we will be back next time we are in town!
