Mariposa – Latin Inspired Grill is designed for the ultimate customer experience. The views from the patios and dining rooms could be the finest world wide. If that wasn’t enough – customers will enjoy browsing the restaurant and the grounds enjoying large scale art or star gazing in the dark Sedona night.
The cuisine is Latin Inspired, primarily from Chef Dahl’s interactions with chef’s in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Chef Lisa Dahl and her team focus on premium ingredients and many of the herbs are grown in the herb gardens in the restaurant courtyard. All meats and seafoods come from the very best sources – such as Newport and Beelers for the meats. For years Lisa has insisted on all organic vegetables from Arizona.
We are thrilled to offer pick up and return service to our West Sedona restaurants from your accommodations. Our luxury sprinter can handle parties of up to 11.

Mariposa Ratings and Reviews
I would say the meal was great and the atmosphere was also on point. Just know you will spend a pretty Penny to dine here. I love this place but 300.00 dollars later it was painful. Make sure you make it at sunset with the love of your life.
This restaurant is absolutely beautiful. We are locals and we have found the food to be good to sometimes outstanding. The service on this visit was a bit uneven and the food was good but not outstanding. The steelhead was a bit over cooked. Both couples ordered salads to share which were not split in the kitchen. I find that a bit unusual for a restaurant in this price range.
Being in Sedona over Valentine's day, Mariposa was a great choice. It was cold and rainy, so sitting outside was not feasible. Another time it would be wonderful I am sure. Great service, lovely and romantic. Nice wine list, cocktails ok. Fresh and tasty food, not amazing but very good. A bit pricey, but hey it's up in Sedona after all!
What a beautiful restaurant! We were there at night and their outdoor lighting is amazing! Indoors does not disappoint either! Great art work of all kinds everywhere throughout. Our drinks were so yummy and the food was OK. We had ribeye and it wasn't a good cut but the flavor was nice. The sides were a bit on the warm side when they got to our table so they cooled quickly. Our server was excellent, Rick. Overall our experience was excellent and I would go back.
First time guests - lovely view and decor/ambiance, food very good and interesting menu selections. Service lacking . . . waited WAY too long for dishes to be cleared after main course. Waited again to get desert menus. Waiter was aware of our 'waiting' but was not appropriately attentive to our meal - he knew we were frustrated and got a little 'attitude'. Realize a different waiter would have made a difference but honest review.
Spectacular gem in Sedona with overall dining experience found at nicer restaurants in larger cities. Best dining experience we've had in Sedona and would return in a heartbeat. Not to be missed when in the area. Highly recommend Spanish Octopus as an appetizer. Steaks were very good.
Perhaps the finest meal we had during two weeks in Phoenix, Tucson and Sedona. The Mariposa provided extraordinary food in a beautiful outdoor patio with sensational views of the mountains. The house cocktails were excellent: I had a tangy prickly pear tequila drink, my spouse a matte latte rum-based drink. Both terrific. My scallops were cooked exactly right, not cold and raw, nor dry and rubbery. My spouse's loved the Green Goddess salad and sopa de Justin, a chicken/avocado/tortilla chip soup. The pièce de résistance, however, was the boca de muerte, a chocolate death experience almost too beautiful to eat. Almost.
We celebrated our anniversary at Mariposa. They were fantastic! Awesome views and scenery, very attractive design of the restaurant, both inside and out! The food was excellent, and so was the wine.
We would recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to Sedona! Make your reservations early, because they are extremely popular! Lisa Dahl created a brilliant new dining venue!
Very very let down by this experience. This was half the restaurant that I attend only 2 years ago and had raved about to friends... This is no longer on my recommendation list for Sedona... All I'll tell people now is drive up to see the view and then get the hell out of there.
We sat at a window table and enjoyed the ambiance of the Sedona red rocks as they changed their hue as the sun went down.
We enjoyed casual service with excellent wines that matched well with our meals and a lovely dessert.
This restaurant is absolutely set in the very best location in Sedona with great architecture and very good service. Lisa Dahl has outdone herself.
The location is outstanding, but the food is far too ordinary to justify the hair-raising prices. We were so disappointed in our experience here that we chose to avoid the chef’s other locations in Sedona during our week’s vacation here. I am not opposed to spending significant money on a delicious meaI that surprises and delights me. I recently spent a lot of money—definitely more than at Mariposa—on a memorable meal at a Michelin 2 star restaurant. It was worth every single penny. But Mariposa seems to know that people will come to experience the enchanting space, and they don’t need to try very hard on the menu. The flavor combinations were not particularly imaginative, and the presentation (we experience food with our eyes, too) was run of the mill. The value proposition here is very low.
Visiting Sedona and our daughter joined us for special visit. The setting is fabulous and the service was impeccable. We had specialty drinks which were fantastic and ordered the Elote appetizer. The corn was still on the cob, but cut in small slices. As I attempted to cut the corn off the cob, the whole slice flew off the plate and on to the floor! Immediately, a server came to my rescue. Scooped up the piece from the floor, gave me a new placemat and inquired if I had gotten anything on my dress. A few minutes later, our waiter, Alan, placed two new pieces on our table and told us an anecdote about the elote, basically telling us to eat it however we want, even with our fingers. Talk about handling an awkward situation with grace! Very professional and discreet. We all ordered steaks, one medium and two medium rare-to medium. While they all were underdone, the filets were still delicious and edible. However, my daughters rib eye was very rare. We did not return it to the kitchen as she did not want to make a fuss and we had lots of side dishes. The Au Gratin potatoes, grilled asparagus, cauliflower were wonderful as were the brussel sprouts. All in all, a great experience and I am aware that we could have sent the steak back, but often that has meant one person waits while the others continue, changing the whole dinner dynamic. Just a heads up to be clear on perhaps the level of 'red/pink' you like for your steak. I would definitely return, as the service, ambiance and food were top-notch.
Food is good
Was greeted by woman I thought was hostess Turns out she was the owner. She made fun of my hyphenated name and was snotty.
Our waiter was brusque and rushed us. It’s an expensive restaurant and he treated us as though we were in some diner and he needed fast turn over. It was hard to enjoy the dinner because of that.
Visiting Sedona, recommendation from friends. Loved this restaurant, food was fabulous, steaks done to perfection! Great sides and loved the upbeat atmosphere. Our server, Victoria was full of personality and provided great service and drink suggestions.
DO NOT miss this restaurant while visiting Sedona!!
Very very disappointed in the food. We have eaten at Mariposa many times and I felt the mixed grill was not up to what one would expect for this restaurant or any good restaurant. The lamb was mostly fat, hard to cut and chew and I ended up eating almost none of the lamb which I usually really enjoy elsewhere. The filet was just OK. For such high prices I would expect much more in the food. My husband had steak and it was just OK. We could buy better streaks at Whole Food and cook on our own. Very very disappointed.
