Celebrated my mother's 85th birthday and we hot the best patio table possible with outstanding views of the magnificent red rocks around Sedona.
The food was great, wine list perfect and our waitress outstanding. Truly a memorable evening for us.
It is always dangerous to evaluate a restaurant on one experience but I would have to say that the food was uninspired. I had a chicken dish that was dry and tasteless. It could have easily been prepared by a school cafeteria. The wine list was brief. We dined in the outside (heated) courtyard like area. Because it was dark, possible grand views were not available. The wait staff was acceptable if somewhat officious.
Although we did not eat in the main dining area, it was very loud and would not be conducive to an intimate dinner or deep conversation.
The night truly could not have been better. The view and the service mixed with amazing food and company was a night to remember!
In general the food was pretty good, but the service was terrible. We sat for 20 minutes before our waiter engeaged us. Once we ordered drinks it was another 20 mins before they actually came...40 minutes before anything...
It continued with the waiter sort of being condescending when we were ordering. I'm not sure I would recommend this place to anyone.
Dinner was for our 20th anniversary and it was a big deal for us. I made a note about it when I made a reservation on line, however, there was no mention of that at all. The food was good but over priced for sure. 4 pieces of shrimps for $16!!! My steak was bit over cooked. Over all, it’s fine to celebrate for special occasions.
The new building is as grand as the view. The menu is heartfelt and original. The wait staff is Knowledgeable and attentive. We visit Sedona once a year and we were anxious to try this relatively new restaurant. You will not be disappointed!
Quite pricy, but you get what you pay for. Easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Highly recommend the Elote Loco to start and the chocolate dulce de leche torte for dessert. They were both out of this world. Our server, Salvador, was very pleasant, energetic, and answered any questions we had. I wasn’t able to get a reservation during the day so at first I was upset that we wouldn’t have any red rock views, but the ambience at night is just as enjoyable - the restaurant itself is gorgeous. Great for a date night!
Our server was lovely, food was great
Very very underwhelming. Service was friendly, but waited at least a minute for fifth entree and a side to arrive. Steak cooked properly but lukewarm, cold before finishing. Lobster mashed as well, started solidifying during meal. Brussel Sprouts good, diners said scallops were good, served hot. Priced like a big time steak house but didn't deliver that kind of experience on this night. Other Dahl operations in town better choices
Great venue for Red Rock views. Service and food was outstanding. Would highly recommend to visitors to Sedona. Menu is extensive and expensive so bring lots of money or credit cards.
Outstanding dining experience. Great food & wine along with spectacular view. Expect above average prices but well worth it.
Excellent meal and fantastic view from the patio. I had the ribeye and wife had filet. Both great. Started with the mussels. I don't recommend as the sauce and chorizo overwhelm the flavor of the mussels. Mushroom side was also very good.
Will be back next time I'm in Sedona. Really a special place.
Great dinner! We got held up and arrived a little late, but the hostess took great care of us and got us seated at a beautiful table. Tremendous food, great ambiance-overall an excellent meal and wonderful time!
Awesome! One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Sedona.
Great ambiance, food, and vistas!
Amazing view food and drinks. Loved it. Service was outstanding. This place does not just get by on its view. Excellent! Will visit again.
We had an amazing experience from the views, the hostess, wait staff and of course an excellent rib-eye steak, cooked to perfection.
My Wife and I went to Mariposa to celebrate our babymoon. Eventually they got our food right, but it took a while. We had to wait an hour and a half for our entree. The first time they brought it out it was ice cold, which leads me to believe our waiter wasn't paying attention and let it sit in back. The second time they brought it out, the lamb we ordered medium rare, came out blue in the center. Finally on the third try they got it right and it tasted good. However by that time we were both so irritated it ruined the mood for the night. Needless to say our reservation was at 7:30 and we didn't get out of there till 10 PM, and that wasn't by design or because it was busy. With all that said the atmosphere and decor is amazing.
Beautiful views from the main dining room. Recommend going for lunch or early dinner before it’s dark. Great food and service.
The view is vast and incredible. The service was amazing and so was the food. We ordered the wood grilled sausage plate, fungi sublime flatbread, the tomahawk, the seafood lover's trio, the lemon lobster mashed potatoes, the scalloped potatoes, the prickly pear cheesecake and the tres leche torte. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend.
Highly recommend Mariposa! Loved the atmosphere, food was very good. I had the special Halibut - was good but the preparation style was just ok. My husband had the filet which was excellent. Cocktails were excellent as well. Our server, Erin, was friendly, gave some nice recommendations for appetizers, and provided wonderful service. The views there are spectacular!
An AMAZING view. Which is why we picked this restaurant in the first place. Highly recommend booking for about 30 minutes before sunset. You won't be disappointed!
Outstanding! Beautifully prepared and presented food. Breathtaking scenery.
We saw that Mariposa is in the top 50 restaurants in the US and my wife and I have been to Cucina Rustica many times, so we had very dear friends come in from New Mexico and wanted to try the best. We were not disappointed. Great food, great wine list and great service. We had the wine pairing dinner with the Tomahawk chop and what a feast. Pairings were done well, ample food for each course and everything was delicious. Our server was very good. The couple that went with us loved the ambience of not only the interior but also beautiful vistas that are the hallmark of Sedona. The waitress gets thumbs up too because our friend Dave wanted to try a different glass of wine and was not particularly fond of it with one of the pairings and of waitress promptly chose a glass to his liking. That is great service. She made it right! We were there on 4/12/18. Reservation number 2109830647. Sincerely, Mark an Opentable Foodie!
Great time on April 12th there. We got there early to have drinks on the patio but the wind was not cooperating. Sat at the bar and were served by Jacob, Kim, and Sean. They make for a fun happy hour and we felt welcome by these people. Also talked to a server named Brian who was helpful with menu selections. We had martinis and a very nice whiskey drink that jacob recommended...excellent.
The restaurant had just installed and epic front door which is spectacular and three more rock slice wall hangings that are equally spectacular.
Dinner was excellent. Vegetarian selections were both well prepared and plated. Service was excellent and the waitstaff was efficient but friendly. Good wine selections too.
Our dinner was great, the app was nothing special though. Our service was a bit slow, but I think that is just part of the Sedona experience. Beautiful views, I think after such a big bill, I would go back for drinks and appetizers at sunset next time. Overall, very good though.
At night this is mostly a steak house. For us there were not enough "Latin inspired" dishes but what we had was well prepared.
You can’t get a better view than this. Even better in person than online. Food was excellent too. Be prepared to spend some coin here but it’s worth it.
Mariposa was amazing. We sat out on the porch and enjoyed the spectacular views at sunset. Our server Erin also made our evening special. The food was delicious and we loved the beef empanadas. A very special dining experience to be sure!
We highly recommend the Mariposa. The food was excellent, waitstaff friendly and helpful,
and the view outstanding.
A great night. Great food, great service and a beautiful view. It was outstanding.
We had a 6 pm dinner reservation at Mariposa during our April vacation in Sedona. The restaurant is beautiful and the views are fantastic and we wanted to be there at sunset, which is early. As an appetizer, we shared an order of Empanadas. For entrees, we had the center cut filet mignon, which was buttery and delicious and cooked to perfection, and the chef's special that night, of lamb and filet. We shared side dishes of scalloped potatoes, sliced thin and so yummy, grilled asparagus with herb butter, and truffle mac and cheese. Everything was just perfect! Would highly recommend it!
Recently went to Mariposa for my birthday. We had a great table with gorgeous views of the mountains/vistas.
The food was fabulous, and our waiter, Brian made the evening even more enjoyable.
Be sure to make reservations well in advance to be assured of getting in and getting your preferred dining time.
The Mariposa is a "must" when visiting Sedona.
Excellent food in a gorgeous setting. Brian was a phenomenal.
We had a fabulous dinner celebrating my birthday here. Our server Alfred was excellent and the food was amazing.
Occasion was for Tom and Sue Creighton's 50th Anniversary. They loved every bit of the dinner from the delicious steaks to the super desserts to the fantastic views.
Only regret is that we did not get a reservation before the sun went down because I can only imagine the views from Mariposa! Food was tasty. I had the stuffed peppers and my husband had the rib eye. Worth a visit while in Sedona.
This was our first trip to Sedona and we made dinner reservations at Mariposa for our Anniversary. The view is spectacular and I highly recommend arriving before sunset. The food is excellent and take on modern Latin cuisine. We got the octopus which was tender and flavorful and the roasted cauliflower was really good.
