The cuisine is Latin Inspired, primarily from Chef Dahl’s interactions with chef’s in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Chef Lisa Dahl and her team focus on premium ingredients and many of the herbs are grown in the herb gardens in the restaurant courtyard. All meats and seafoods come from the very best sources – such as Newport and Beelers for the meats. For years Lisa has insisted on all organic vegetables from Arizona.
We are thrilled to offer pick up and return service to our West Sedona restaurants from your accommodations. Our luxury sprinter can handle parties of up to 11.
The Food was perfection, perfectly cooked and delicious. We sat outside because it was a little noisier inside and we have some hearing issues. The atmosphere outside was wonderful, it was a clear night, the stars were out. The only real detraction to the evening was the service. It was a very busy night at the restaurant, and perhaps the waiter had too many tables to cover or maybe not, welcome and ordering was brief. A bright spot in the service was that our entrees and sides were brought to the table by what I'm assuming was kitchen staff, and was well presented, and a wonderful experience. During the evening We were rarely checked on, we poured our own wine, order taking for dessert felt almost like we were slowing him down and when he served our desert it was barely put on the table before he was off to his other patrons. For the price we were paying for dinner/wine/dessert, we expect a bit more attention in service. If it was truly a short staff night it's unfortunate, it did detract from the experience.
Ordered the 8 ounce filet. Was actually less than 5. Ordered it medium rare and it was served rare to raw with parts totally uncooked. Salad entree was so salty it couldn't be eaten. Service was excellent as was the view but a truly horrible meal. Never again.
Our experience was delightful. Mariposa provided pick up service to and from our hotel. Tom, our driver was prompt and provided tons of information regarding Sedona and the history of the restaurant. Our server was spot on regarding her suggestions and her knowledge of the menu was vast. The meal itself lived up to the reviews. The blending of the flavors of the food was delicious. A truly wonderful dining experience!
Mariposa is fantastic, far and away the best restaurant in Sedona.
We actually ate at 3 of the 4 Lisa Dahl restaurants while in town and Mariposa has built on all the successes of the other three.
Incredible views, easy parking, outstanding architecture, good food and service, it all works.
Our dinner at Mariposa was the best I’ve had in a long time. Our server was engaging and professional and had only worked there two weeks. Impressive. Very charming atmosphere in a breathtakingly beautiful setting in Sedona. Oh and the food was great too!! Just wish a bread basket was offered but overall a magnificent experience.
We sat in the spacious and high-ceilinged dining room overlooking Shiprock and other formations. Elote was fabulous, as was the portabello and roasted vegetables dish. Trout was excellent. The warm bread was not unusual. The waitress listened well and she was attentive throughout our meal.
Ambience is wonderful. Our server was very attentive and the food was excellent. You get a lot of food for your buck there.
The food was outstanding with an interior design that was beautiful and unique. The view was priceless but expect to pay for it. Not suitable for kids but great for adults.
Dress casual. It sounded by the description it was business casual but people wear tank tops, yoga pants and sweats here. They just rolled in off the trails I guess. Food was pretty good for lunch. It’s probably better at dinner time. Service is outstanding, best service I’ve experienced in my week in Arizona so far. The view and service would make me come back here.
The views from this location can’t be beat. We made our reservation at 6:30 so we could experience the sunset from the outdoor patio. So glad we did. The colors on the rocks change with the setting sun. Drinks were exceptional. The menu was diverse enough for everyone. We ordered a round of drinks and then some appetizers. Both arrived at the same time giving us no time to enjoy our cocktails and the views even though ordered at separate times. Once we ordered our entrees, it took at least over an hour to receive. My husband ordered a $100 bottle of wine, and the waiter never came back to pour our wine after the initial pour and never came with an explanation on the food delay. When we sat down my husband told the waiter we were celebrating my birthday. The waiter never acknowledge it. No dessert with a candle. When you spend $450 for a party of four, I expect better service than we received that night. Not sure if we would go back!
Excellent overall experience
The atmosphere and view is amazing this is true. The service was abominable. The server was smacking his gum the whole time, made up answers when we had questions (the AQWA liqueur isn’t a cross between rum and tequila buddy) the ceviche was frozen shrimp in tomato sauce and he said “oh that’s just Peruvian style” The steak was delicious as was the asparagus and cheesecake.
Fantastic view, wonderful service!
A must for Sedona! Beautiful atmosphere, free valet parking, excellent food.
This was the most incredible dining experience! Mariposa has an incredible view, over the top staff and let's not forget the food! I highly recommend the lobster mashed potatoes! Thank you for going above and beyond, making our experience the best ever!
Excellent food and best resturant view in Sedona AZ
We decided to dine at Mariposa instead of doing the other Sedona excursions since we were aware of the dinner prices and somewhere mixed reviews. We were promptly welcomed and seated in the main dining room, Salvador was our server and he was outstanding. The food was wonderful and although we don’t usually get dessert, we went for the flourless chocolate cake with salted caramel gelato. Just do it!
Delicious dinner with great ambiance. Be prepared to drop some cash but well worth it.
The steak was terrible quality and stringy. The octopus was doused in oil. The gazpacho was excellent. For two people it was $275 with tip, yes we had drinks but it was disappointing.
Great experience with relatives. Great ambiance. Service was excellent and food exceptional.
My favorite restaurant in Sedona. Try to visit every time we’re in town. Worth every penny. The Yuma fries are delicious and the other side dishes are always interesting and excellent.
We had dinner there and therefore did not enjoy the view. It’s located in a spectacular setting, so, I would recommend going for lunch.
Fabulous setting and beautiful views. Be sure to go early to catch the sunset. Excellent service from our waitress Erin. Try the tiger shrimp appetizer. Loved the special halibut as well. Going back again but closer to opening to snag a patio seat.
This place was so good!!! The food was delicious and the staff was on point!!
The view was awesome. We weren’t rushed even though restaurant was full. Would highly recommend it to as beautiful !
Great experience overall, we look forward to our return. It’s well worth the price especially considering what mediocre costs in Sedona. We’d prefer to go out less so we can go there more, yummmm😊
Excellent all the way around. Great service, food and the views are spectacular.
Everything was great! One of my favorite places to eat in Sedona!
Food was very good. Filet was cooked perfectly and one of the best shrimp cocktails I’ve had. Service was not at the same level. Dishes from first course never cleaned from table, sat there through the entire meal along with dirty drink glasses. Wait staff seemed understaffed.
The best chicken sandwich in the face of the planet! Only served at lunch, so plan accordingly.
Food very average
We visit Mariposa (and its sister restaurants) annually during our week long visit to Sedona. Also, most of our dinners at Mariposa have been to celebrate our wedding anniversaries around Sept. 5th of each year. The food is excellent, the setting and views are magnificent, the service is great and we'd highly recommend Mariposa to anyone visiting the Sedona area and seeking a first class evening.
Our meal was delicious, the views were stunning, and the atmosphere was romantic. What an awesome way to celebrate our 10th anniversary!
Stunning view, fun menu, burgers ridiculously good, friendly service
We specifically asked for guidance from the waiter about qty of good to order, he chose the “ build up the ticket” model. We were overcharged by $100 for a bottle wine and got a lame excuse that he made a mistake and we drank a better bottle of wine than we ordered. Problem is, we took a pic of the bottle before we ate, sorry not even close. We are foodies, not cheap but don’t like to be treated like tourist amateurs. The views are great, have a drink and head for better options. Fell way short of our expectations.
Can’t beat the view. The roasted almonds in the Ceaser were delicious.
My steak was closer on the medium side than med-rear. But I have to tell you it was still incredible.
I think it was two steps up from Bobby Flay’s at Mohegan Sun Casino.
The lemon lobster mashed potatoes, indescribable.
Excellent experience, I hope to visit again.
The skinny margaritas are the best in town. The lamb chop was great and so was the service.
We visited as 2 couples. It was an amazing lunch with views all around 😊
Waiter was very unfriendly and seemed to be pushing us out the door from the moment we arrived
The food was great and the service was very attentive. They even provided a shuttle from our hotel to the restaurant and return. We had the octopus, gaspacho and the shrimp. All was wonderful including the dessert. We tried the churros and the gelato. If we are back in Sedona we will go back and also try their sister restaurants which we were told are outstanding also.
