Mariposa at Neiman Marcus - Bellevue Ratings and Reviews
My friends and I gathered for a post-holiday lunch on Sunday, 1/14 at 1pm and our overall experience was just OK. The restaurant wasn't easily recognizable and there were no signs pointing us in the right direction. Once we were seated, our server (an older gentleman) brought over a biscuit with chicken soup, which was tasty. At that same time, my friend noticed her coffee mug had a lipstick stain so she asked for a new cup for her coffee. Instead of immediately apologizing and promptly getting her a new cup, our server stood there for a good 10 -15 seconds, inspecting the cup. He then proceeded to say that the cup just had coffee residue and walked away. Totally unnecessary. A friend and I ordered the bloody mary and in the description, there was supposed to be a carrot. When our drinks arrived, no carrot! The drink itself tasted a bit watered-down and we both felt it wasn't worth the $11. Finally, after the last of our group arrived, our server came over to take our orders. The food came out fairly quickly, which was nice. But instead of knowing who ordered what items (there was only 5 of us and the restaurant had about 2-3 other tables occupied), he had no clue. We expected better service for a restaurant that has higher than average prices but instead, there was a disconnect and several inconsistencies that resulted in an overall mediocre experience. I probably won't dine here again.
The service is typically atrocious... and this was no exception. It’s a nice dining room to meet friends for lunch. But don’t expect to get out quickly.
The bright spot is the bus boy who has been there for quite a while.
He keeps the dining room moving.. he clears tables, serves . He keeps the place together with kindness and a smile.
He is terrific and should be called out for his service.
On the other hand the waiter was disinterested, bored and should look for another occupation.
It is always hit or miss at Mariposa. They have a very special product. It is a very beautiful atmosphere. The food is good. It is a beautiful place for a ladies’ luncheon. They do not have enough staff. The lighting is terrible. There is no ambience, like music (you are dining in a department store......). The staff is so harried, you have to flag someone down to get anything, and a luncheon takes a full two hours. It can get embarrassing, things take so long. BUT, the entire experience is fun. The food is pretty good, and the restaurant is pretty.
My daughters and I have been coming here for years for an annual Christmas lunch. We won’t be back. Front hostess was rude and marked us as a no show. Service was awful. Water never refilled, waiter never checked in. My daughter asked for coffee. Took 30 minutes and was lukewarm. Very disappointed.
Our go -to lunch spot when we want to be somewhere special. Love the menu choices, the ambience and the wait staff. Shortly after you arrive you are served the most delicious taste of chicken broth with a tiny scone, and one of their famous popovers served with creamy strawberry butter. Yum!
The crab bisque and their blackened salmon tacos are two of my favorites.
Prices are more than normal other places considering its a café, smaller place to grab a bite. I love the quietness, but since I eat out a lot and been to other places, their prices need to be adjusted to be more attractive so more people can frequent this place.
Excellent food; very nice atmosphere and pleasant experience. Only disappointment was how long it took for our lunch order to actually arrive at the table, and that our waitress seemed to disappear for a long time... No check-ins to say "your order is on the way" or "can I get anyone another beverage?"; I would have liked a refill of tea while waiting, and my friends' glasses were empty, too. From a friend who has dined there before, it seems this is atypical, but it did get me thinking that any future meals there should allow for much more time than expected. We were on a business lunch, and all of us had to cancel meetings right after lunch because our orders took about 40 min to arrive at the table; all items ordered were sandwiches or salads.
This is our "go to" spot for out of town friends, and also our choice for what we joyfully refer to as our pick for "a very civilized lunch." The food is fresh, tasty, flavorful and a bit imaginative, and the wait staff couldn't be better!
From the moment you sit down, you're greeted with a little taste of the best chicken consomme' imaginable, accompanied by a wonderful little cheese scone. And then the popovers arrive! Oh!
these egg-y delights melt in your mouth as easily as the strawberry butter spreads across these little gems!
Open at this point only for lunch, but I'm hoping...
A disappointing experience for Mother's Day 2017 lunch. Have been several times in the past and always had delicious food and impeccable service, but not this time. We had to request waters and no specials were shared from our server who mentioned that she was "very new" several times and could
not answer question on food preparation. My favorite salad had been removed from the menu, my popover was burned, and so was my grilled sandwich! I was the one that had picked the restaurant for our family of 5, and I felt embarrassed I had raved about it so! I thought it might have just been a fluke for a busy Mother's Day service, except that when I mentioned it to my co-worker the following day, she said she had also had a bad experience the week before there with the same "very new" server. Too bad, we drove an hour to get there from Sumner. Won't be back.
Dining at Mariposa is always an elegant and relaxing occasion. Food is not only fresh and delicious but presented beautifully by gracious servers. Would like to comment on the server I have had during my last two visits. Her name is Sam (assume short for Sammantha) and she is such a delight. Will request her when I make reservations for my next leisure and delectable lunch. Just wish Mariposa was open for dinner.
The French fries were really terrible. Over done, tasteless. They put potato chips on the
plate with my roll up (which was excellent by the way) that were so stale they weren't
even crunchy. My husband did not like his sandwich at all, rated it poor. The chocolate
chip cookies need to be revamped or discontinued. They tasted like something out of a box
at the grocery store.
