Mariposa at Neiman Marcus - Coral Gables Ratings and Reviews
I just wrote a review about a week ago about 2 dogs in a stroller in the dining room, and I like dogs but a restaurant is not a place for dogs. We ate there again this past saturday night. There were six of us and at a table nearby there was a dog which started barking. Maybe dogs should only be allowed on the patio outside or don't allow them at all.
The food wasn't very hot by the time it got to the table. The steak in the steak sandwich was good, but anyone can do a steak sandwich on baguette. I would use a different bread, like brioche.
The brioche at the beginning of the meal was not fresh.
Overall, I liked the food at the restaurant but the bread is not a strength.
Although the food was good. We shared the Tuna tartare and Plantains. For mains one person had Strip Steak, one the Bistro Salad with Turkey another the burger and I had the butternut ravioli. The time between ordering and the main course being delivered was almost 1 hour. Good thing we weren't in too much of a rush. Waitress disappeared a frew times for long periods: e.g when we wanted to reorder drinks and after we asked for the check.
I have visited the Mariposa in Coral Gables a few times. It has always been a pleasant experience with pretty good food, service and ambiance. I take out of town clients as most like the Merrick shopping experience, Neiman Marcus and a place where you can have lunch and continue shopping. This past Friday I took a very special guest to Mariposa and I soon regretted having done so. Service was adequate at best. We ordered cocktails before lunch and the waitress was not too familiar with the bar. We then ordered appetizers and lunch. We requeste4d a special bottle of wine (Prisioner - red) and requested to have it slightly chilled and to be served with the entrees. Well, the entrees arrived and the wine was nowhere to be seen. The steaks were requested med/rare and were served well done.....the salmon was ultra dry . We kept reminding the waitress for the wine, and when we were almost done with our lunch, the bottle arrived, not chilled and was just placed on the table - we had to request to have it opened. We went ahead and accepted the bottle once t hey brought a bucket of ice to cool it a bit. Then, we ordered coffee and after dinner liqueurs.......the waitress asked if were to have the liqueurs in addition to the wine we had on the table...really??? It's none of h er business what we order, her job is to serve what we order. IT WAS VERY UNPLEASANT, I don't foresee taking clients there in the future.
My wife’s Filet Mignon was overcooked. Advised the waitress and she really didn’t say or do anything about it. Only apologized. I had the catch of the day which was Snapper. Nothing special about that for $30. In the end the food was just okay as well as the service but we paid a premium for it. I would not visit again. For the money I could get a much better meal and experience elsewhere.
Always love the food pls they have a very nice Miami Spice menu which has been expended this year thru October. It is great for girlfriend luncheons as well as a nice lunch alone at the bar when taking a break from shopping. I went with my husband Saturday night and we loved Denis, the bartender. He suggested a new Russian vodka for my husbands martini and it was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable with the wine list. Husband definitely wants to go back for dinner!
My favorite right before a film. Good and fresh food, always. Personal touches such as warm large rolls with Strawberry butter and the Chicken Broth shot served is a touch of class. Mabel was kind and attentive however her support staff were just hanging around and while she understandably had other tables, we had to wait for minor needs such as oil, vinegar, lemons and more water. Minor mishap to an otherwise good restaurant, Enjoy!
Because we had a reservation we were not allowed to dine outside and put in a small side room with 6 other tables. We were there for the Miami spice brunch but only received one menu. This made it difficult to order since all three courses for all people need to be ordered upfront. Our second course came out before the apps were finished and then went back to the kitchen. Don't get the cake for dessert as it was raw. The staff seemed bothered to be at work and would glare at the tables through the crack in the door next to the table.
This was my day!
Worked until 12, disconnected and headed out to enjoy the day.
After a great lunch at another OT restaurant, saw a movie and then wanted drinks and appetizers, Mariposa was the place. Laid back and best of Miami without South Beach issues, Mariposa IS the place.
Well prepared drinks, tropical chips (plantain) and 3 varieties of dip with a Turkey Club large enough for 2, splendid! My favorite when I am at Village of Merrick Park, go and Enjoy!
Never disappoints. You can always count on them for a lovely time. No special occasion, just catching up with a girlfriend over lunch and a cocktail. The popovers and broth are perfect and they had a lovely rosé punch as their special drink that day. I had my sustainer (salad with grilled shrimp) and for dessert, the box of chocolate cookies. In essence, perfect girlfriends lunch.
I have to say Raoul, our server, is amazing! He is by far one of the most attentive people I have ever encountered and he has one of the most pleasant demeanors ever. I truly enjoy our conversations and he suggests the best dishes! The food is also fantastic and I live for the Neiman Marcus cookies! Truly, truly amazing.
Professional, personal service from wait staff. Manager Michael Hyatt is involved in every single detail. The food is well prepared and always delicious. Wonderful atmosphere. Excellent selection of wine and spirits. I highly recommend Mariposa Restaurant on the third floor of Neiman Marcus Merrick Park.
