Mariposa at Neiman Marcus - Michigan Avenue Ratings and Reviews
Excellent location next to Water Tower. Very good quality and care in meal preparation to client's specs. Quiet for private conversation. Attentive and fast service makes it ideal for an efficient and good business lunch. No frills and unpretentious contemporary decor might make it too" functional" for some guests. Overall a very nice, solid and reliable dining experience.
Family is very important doing the holiday season. Time to reflect on those that went home.
We went out for a little lunch and shopping.
The Popover have not changed. This is come good eating.
The chicken soup consommé starting as a pallet cleanser before lunch.
Chicken and rice soup with carrots, celery and just great flavor for winter afternoon. You can see the chicken and broth was great.
Salmon was on the plate. The dish was load with flavor. The salmon is just below the salad green. The lintels surrounding the salmon were tender loving goodness-good.
The shrimp salad that you can find the shrimp without straining. The combination of favor were very expressive to the palette.

We always love Mariposa, but a few things were off this time. The plates had gray smudges that didn’t wipe off and my cup of consommé had a crumb or something encrusted on the inside of the cup. The waiter wasn’t familiar with the kids’ menu, which said the meals come with fruit and a dessert. My kids didn’t get fruit, and the waiter couldn’t tell us what ingredients were in the desserts, so suggested my kids just try one to see if they like it. They did, but it was kind of a strange thing to suggest, especially for those with a dietary restriction. Other than that, it was very pleasant and we were left alone to enjoy a nice lunch.
Very poor service because the woman server never came during the meal, and did not ask if we wanted more hot water once. Said it was a birthday and slaps menu on table. Doesn’t even say happy birthday. She was extremely a poor server, not like the other older woman server waiting on tables. This server was disinterested, is not the quality of Neiman Marcus, never asked us if we enjoyed our meal and made no attempt to be attentive. How can you leave a good tip with someone like this. Maybe she belongs in a cafeteria style setting. Would definitely NOT recommend for special occasions.
The popovers !Got to experience this restaurant beautiful dinnerware with incredibly beautiful expensive water glasses ! Was able to share a soup and sandwich with the friend no problem . All our sandwiches were wonderful, service was wonderful ,the room was wonderful ! For our group it was more of a special occasion and a wonderful dining experience that we don’t do every day . Looking forward to reach a return
Mariposa never fails. It has a lovely variety of salads and entrees. The dining Room is very comfortable, tables are nicely spaced, conversations are at a reasonable level, and the service is attentive. The popovers are perfect and a nice little indulgence.
This is a very nice restaurant for lunch located on the 4th floor of the Neiman Marcus department store. Service was very good and food was also good. My only minor complaint was the turkey in the Roast Turkey Sandwich was cold. I was expecting it to be warm based on the description. The bread and sweet potato fries were delicious and made up for the cold turkey.
We have a soft spot for Neiman Marcus restaurants, as long-time fans of their popovers with strawberry butter. Years ago, the food at some of their restaurant locations was excellent, such as at the Dallas location under former Chef Sharon Hage. But these days, from New Jersey to Chicago and beyond, the food is typically mediocre at best -- perhaps a reflection of the challenging retail environment...or perhaps even a cause of it? If NM shows it cares so little about the cuisine at its restaurants, how much can it really care that its retail chain thrives? The once-classic popover is now a shapeless blob, though the flavor and texture are still pretty good....Our soft spot is so soft that we may keep returning on occasion to see if the food's any better, but these days we eat our memories here more so than what's on the plate, so we wouldn't dream of recommending it to a serious food lover.
Lovely restaurant in a wonderful city on a special day. Excellent service and was treated to a #yummy pumpkin creme brulee celebrating a birthday. Nice to have the "Benefit" options...cuisine for a healthier lifestyle. I've had before and they're excellent choices!
I have never been disappointed. From the serving of their delicious chicken broth to the melt-in-your-mouth popover served with strawberry butter, the menu is both flavorful and eclectic... I always love to be seated by the window, for various reasons, and look forward to viewing the latest fashions, informally...
Don't miss a relaxing time ...
There are a great choice of salads at Mariposa. My favorite is the crab salad, but I love a number of the other lunch dishes, too. They are flexible with removing some ingredients and doubling others when requested. A lovely oasis from the bustle of Michigan Avenue!
Elegant dining in Neiman Marcus. Quiet and conversation friendly with attractive decor of modern art on the walls and tables nicely spaced. Good menu and complimentary hot popovers and bouillon in small cups accompany every meal. Service however is erratic and lags - servers do not seem well trained, and long periods can go by without seeing your server, and then the server will stop by every 2-3 minutes! Suggest being clear if you are on a schedule.
Had a wonderful lunch celebrating a friends birthday. Wonderful service and food and we could carry on a conversation and hear each other. A nice change from some other restaurants. My friend received a complimentary dessert with a candle. What a nice touch!!
This was our spot before the remodeling of
With a new name came a new menu .
The food was good before and they have move up with the quaility, the selections on the menu been increased, and the service is good.
The popover and the chicken consommé made the menu again. The Zodiac is now gone and the new place is now staring .
The view to the north showing the Water Tower and the part view of Michigan Avenue was ok. The natural sun light beamed in the room with warm.... there is nothing like natural light...
We had a double Birthday celebration and business lunch.
Mariposa never fails! When you start with the delightful, genteel touch of fresh popovers and warm chicken soup, it's hard to get better. Yet the menu manages to be pleasantly varied, unpretentious, and uniformly delicious, and the service is impeccable. It's a perfect place to meet for lunch with a special friend and know that you will be given both privacy and quietly unimposing attention to every request. Great staff, particularly Karen, who will be in the Hospitality Hall of Fame, as soon as she chooses to retire, which I hope is not before we get to have lunch with her many more times.
