We went to Mariposa because a friend had said that we would be served popovers, which was true. She did not say that the popovers would be cold and very difficult to pull apart - not at all how a popover ought to be. Our main courses were the special - quiche with spinach and mushroom. Served with a soggy side salad and a tiny (very tiny) portion of fruit. The quiche was okay at best. We will not be returning - the food seems to be stuck in the 1950s.

Always great to be greeted with a popover and broth and to be sent off with a chocolate peppermint. My daughter and I love Mariposa!

Highly recommended, Delightful and a great, varied menu and Beverages, great variety of the best wines, at least lunch-hour wines, food does not match the ambiance and decor, these need an upgrade. I was looking for sleek modern not a garden party lunch full of neighborhood regulars.

It was an OK experience -- the ambiance was exactly right. I was disappointed in the menu. While still service their chicken broth and popovers, the menu was heavier than it used to be. I loved their trio salad they used to serve. I would probably go again with a friend if that is where they wanted to go, but would suggest other options for the food.

The popovers and strawberry butter and chicken consume are always a hit, now with my 9 month old too! I am glad to keep my Grandmother's memory alive by coming here. We always have great service!

Birthday lunch for my mother, 98, who hadn’t been in years and wanted to return. She wa so happy to have popovers and broth, as has been the tradition! Good chicken salad and tangerine mouse, too.

Perfection! Plenty of seats, so we chose a window seat overlooking Water Tower. Started off with the complimentary oh my my popovers with strawberry butter, and the world’s best chicken broth. We had the crab salad n the autumn salad, n couldn’t decide which was superior. Dessert was hot pecan pie — yum!Service was attentive, n as this review started off saying— all was perfection!

Really disappointing. Started well with those amazing signature warm popovers with strawberry butter— yum! Also a complimentary cup of chicken broth was excellent. I ordered a salad, n paid the extra $7 to top it with grilled chicken. I really was looking forward to the taste of freshly grilled hot chicken! But a very ordinary salad arrived with sliced cold PROCESSED meat! What? Really? Here? I ate it tho It’s not something I ordinarily would order. My friend ordered the grilled vegetable panini, n received a wrap filled with lettuce. When we finally flagged down our always difficult to find waiter, he argued that it really was a panini. So I showed him google images of paninis, explained about a panini press, hot, grilled vegetables versus lettuce, etc. He stood his ground, but offered my friend a cappuccino instead of the wrap. Then he must’ve relented, because he returned later with a complimentary grilled veggie sandwich on toast— a lot closer, anyway. All in all, a surrealistic experience.

Lunch at Neiman Marcus’ Mariposa is A MUST whenever we’re in Chicago! The complimentary hot chicken broth and popovers are the perfect elixirs after walking in the chill and wind on Michigan Avenue. Service is wonderful as is all of the food!

The popovers are delightful, as are many of the other dishes, but do not eat the mandarin souffle that comes with the chicken salad. I had everyone at my table taste it and we all agreed that it had the flavor of rotting leftover smell in the refrigerator.

Not a first time visit but very disappointing in all ways. In addition to fair service, food, value etal, they didn't honor Open Table redemption or points. And the room looks "old," chairs, especially, need to be replaced. Bad choice for holiday lunch.

I’ve been going here for a Christmas shopping tradition since I was a little kid. This year I expanded the tradition to a new generation of folks. The popovers and strawberry butter is always fantastic. The food is always great. The service today was above and beyond. The server we had made the 7 year old with us feel very special. I love this place and will continue to come here every year.

Always enjoy Mariposa for luncheon with the ladies. I live between East Coast and West Coast and Hawaii, where we have Mariposa’s ( it’s called The NM Cafe in Las Vegas) at our NM. Noticed Chicago’s Mariposa changed its menus, not too crazy for their Lavender Lemonade, taste different than the one I had one before at NM Cafe at our Las Vegas NM. Nice touch on the Birthday cupcake ( thank you!).

Perhaps, I’m bias on giving this review, I’m spoiled by the attentive attention that Mariposa Honolulu and NM Cafe Las Vegas Staffs. Something that Mariposa Chicago Staffs can take notes on their other counterpart, simply to make them better in the manner of service.

The salad was a plate of what appeared to be nothing but iceberg lettuce, old tomotos with a few pepperoni slices mixed in. There wasn't even chicken in the salad until I finally got the service persons attention to tell her. Worst salad ~ extremely disappointing.

Excellent from start to finish. Colleagues and special guest skeptical at first, but then everything was wonderful start to finish once we arrived at the restaurant. Service was excellent. Food options included a wide range of choices that covered the entire group. Every selection was delicious. Quiet atmosphere encouraged active conversation - just what I was looking for! Wonderful! Yes: my go to place for special gatherings.
