Mariposa at Neiman Marcus - Beverly Hills Ratings and Reviews
Mariposa is very much a Ladies Who Lunch place. It’s very quiet and pretty. It’s perfect for meeting a girlfriend and shopping. We ate our lunch and then explored the makeup department which is right outside the restaurant.
But the food is just okay. The best part is the hot popover with butter and jam they bring at the beginning and the little chicken soup with pastry stick that is also brought out complimentary. We had salads- of course :) - but they were just okay. At least they list the calories on the menu so you won’t waste any calories on an average lunch! The iced tea is very good...not watery.
Overall, I still go there because it’s a pleasant experience and the waiters are very accommodating with special orders. And I always eat the popover so it’s fine if the entree isn’t spectacular!
Mariposa, despite its relatively recent makeover, is still my idea of a comfortable and familiar venue. If you like the ladies that lunch vibe, there is a great atmosphere, very good to excellent food and wonderful staff. It's a unique experience but not for everyone. This is the antithesis of a sports bar and I love it.
I just had to share the wonderful experience I had today at the Mariposa @Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills. My friend and I decided to take advantage of The DineLA menu and what a treat. When we arrived we were greeted by James, the manager and his assistant, Kelvin. We requested a corner booth, James and Kelvin were so accommodating and couldn't have been nicer. The food was amazing, we had the Black Cod and it was simply divine. Our server, Jose was attentive and very friendly! If you haven't been to the Mariposa you are really missing something special.
I usually love Mariposa, all of their food is fresh and amazing. Unfortunately, I came for the DineLa experience and was so disappointed! The DineLa menu was absolutely HORRIBLE!!! The gnocchi was hard without flavor, the cod was smaller than my pinky and smelled fishy and the curry was so subpar!! We barely touched any of it!!! If this had been my first experience at Mariposa, it would definitely have been my last! If they want to participate in the DineLa experience they should take pride in the food they serve. It was a wasted lunch!!!
Horrible dining experience
Ambiance and décor are dreadful -coloration and furnishings from long ago and who knows what else
Popovers either not at all warm or too hot to eat
Dine l a menu-ridiculous version gnocchi which I sent back. Fried chicken so greasy. Fish dish minuscule and drowning in a cream sauce.
Seemed t o have no regard for current more healthfully oriented preparations.
Have been there before and was much better prior to remodel.
What’s not to like about Neiman Marcus. Mariposa is one of the nicest restaurants in Beverly Hills for the value. Free parking, beautiful things to look at as you enter the store and go downstairs to your reservation at the lovely restaurant. James who is always there to greet you and usually remembers everybody’s name. The menu is lovely with all sorts of selections and of course the fantastic popovers – – the best in town with the creamy butter and wonderful strawberry jam accompanied by the Chicken broth. The coffee is excellent. If you only want to have a hamburger they have the best; if you want to have caviar they also have the best so you can’t go wrong either way. I would eat here more often if I wasn’t worried about gaining so much weight.
Mariposa has always been a secret weapon of mine. The food is always great; temperature, taste and presentation. It seems that NM shoppers know about it but few others do...it really is a very special place. I’m a tough customer and they get it right every time(and I’m not a regular!). We go maybe once a month. You will not be disappointed.
My apologies. I did not realize I made reservation for Mariposa, Beverly Hills when I wanted one at Mariposa, at NM, Ala Moana in Honolulu.
IN spite of no reservations there, we were able to be seated of which I was very grateful.
Our experience was wonderful, food delicious, ambiance beautiful.
Always enjoy Mariposa, no matter the city. Started with Stone Fruit with Burrata and Toasted Pistachios while hubby enjoyed Watermelon and Shrimp Salad with Avocado; next course, Chicken Katsu with Pickled Cucumbers for me while hubby had Carne Asada Salad with Chimichurri Caesar Vinaigrette. For dessert, Chocolate Mousse with Candied Pecans and Brûléed Bananas.
I've only starting going to NM's Mariposa restaurant a few times before its remodeling a couple of years ago. Ever since I've really enjoyed the meal & service. Everyone from the host to my server [usually Jose] has been very gracious & accommodating. In the future I plan to bring one of my closest colleagues & her sister, to whom I've very close.
As a long time Neiman's customer I usually have an outstanding time at their restaurants. Service on this particular occasion was lackluster. With that being said, my lunch was delicious and prompt. My server was not very welcoming but the support staff was spot on. The runners and busboys were were far more attentive than my actual server. I really enjoy the remodel with the large windows.
The popovers were the best thing we had at this birthday lunch. The tiny cup of chicken broth was also very good but the entree salads were forgettable, except for the prices, which were excessive. The meat in the carne asada salad was well-marinated and tasted good but the rest was shredded cabbage with a few dices of tomato. The apricot cobbler dessert had fresh apricots but they were under-ripe. The cobbler topping tasted like pie crust broken into small pieces, flavored with some cinnamon. The vanilla ice cream was sorely needed to overcome the apricots' sourness. Expensive and disappointing.
We celebrated Mother's Day and 2 birthdays. It was one of the few places that had a special occasion menu as well as the regular menu. This doesn't happen at other nice places on Mother's Day. They all jack up the price and only offer a special menu. The service and attention couldn't have been nicer. Each of us loved our meal.
Once a very bustling and energetic eatery that we enjoyed for decades. Alas now a boring, tired and unsophisticated cafe. The shift from the elegant way NM was run as a place to go and experience quality and service it now reeks of irresponsible management.
Oh the people the popovers and the TLC given by staff. A very nice break from the exhausting vibe of BH. No attitude at all, let us linger as long as we wanted to. Delicious salads, good serving sizes, nice wine selection and also a full bar al at fairly reasonable prices. Go and enjoy and be entertained by the eclectic mix of old and young.
We went to Mariposa to celebrate my daughter's 12th birthday. Over the years this restaurant has been a favorite of mine and my friends. Although some might consider it for "every day" dining/lunch - it is a bit pricey for that , but well worth it. The Lobster Cobb salad is incredible and is on the regular menu. The service is exceptional and the staff friendly. I only wish we could go MORE often.
