Emotional reasons keep me coming back an d so does the thin crust pizza. Mom and dad met here. Close to home and I walk in my ancestors footsteps. What’s better than that! Thanks Mario’s. See you soon.
All in our party of 6 were very happy with all selections. My Branzino was excellent and was pleased that my Penne was al dente. I was disappointed in the Italian Cheesecake, was not quite what I expected. Been a fan of Italian cheesecake many years and this did not live up to my expectations at this restaurant, disappointing.
Great place to eat for good Italian food. the waiter was very nice.
As always, food and service excellent.
Brought our daughter and her roommates for dinner and had a lovely time. Service and food was perfect!
the delicious food, friendly service and great value make this a favorite
Best penne a la vodka I've ever had. The calamari was also delicious.
Terrible. Stay away!
Tourist trap on a downward spiral.
This Arthur Avenue mainstay serves luscious food. The chicken picatta was melt-in-ones-mouth. The branzino was the best I've had. And need I say anything about a cake that is lemon AND coconut!
I love that the owners stop by tables to chat.
It was a lovely evening, decorated for Valentines Day with red balloons on every table. The food was great and we shared all of the dishes so we were each able to taste more dishes. Veal Saltimbocca was my favorite and the ravioli with vodka sauce was my husband’s favorite.
Well, the waiter tried to sell us the upgrade appetizer, we said yes, then 2 minute later, we told him we wanted the normal one. 40 minutes later we still didn't have it after asking him how long for 30 minutes. Always said its coming! Finally we got the manager over and she got it for us. They gave us our drinks and one dinner for free! The food was okay, the hot antipasto was eh.
We have been going here from up state for years - the service is always the highlight to the dinning experience. We love the food and their kitchen staff is always ready to adapt to new ideas of special considerations.
The food was disappointing. Shrimp was overcooked. Cocktail was not very good. Others at the table felt portions were off.
If you are looking for old-school, red sauce italian, with valet parking, on Arthur Avenue, this place is serviceable, but be aware that the place is almost like a time warp (1950's), in terms of decor and menu choices.
Our waiter was fantastic and plan on going back , food was excellent
Parking is only plus I see for this restaurant. Food was ok. Service not great. Forgot to bring our salad. 6 of us served our pasta dishes but my grandsons pizza was not. We were almost finished with our meal by the time pizza served.
Amazing service and from the moment we walked in felt like family. We had a lovely Christmas Eve Dinner!
The ambiance was perfect for our Christmas Eve lunch with friends but some of the food was disappointing.
Food was good. Waiter was extremely rude and not attentive.
It was a pleasure to have lunch at Mario's. There are many choices for the special lunch menu, The food was delicious. The servers were attentive.
Felt like I was eating a tourist trap versus a true Italian restaurant....
If your in the mood for excellent Italian fare Mario's is the place to go.
Go hungry and be ready to put on the feed bag - you won't regret it.
As always our favorite Arthur Ave restaurant.
It was just what I was looking forward to a traditional plate of pasta with sausage on the side
Fantastic cappuccino in the end waiter ben was really good at the start of the meal then he just ignored us had to get other waiters to help us. Looked overwhelmed sorry but it hurt you in the pocket normal a big tipper but you got to earn it !
Best Italian food I e ever had.
Excellent all the way around!
We were expecting better. Better food. Better service. Better ambiance. We felt that the place was very industrial, like a large catering hall. Food was basically thrown at us, when asked why I didn't get my side order of penne, waiter said, "everyone's getting ziti" which admittedly isn't that different - but they just wouldn't or couldn't accommodate different choices. No time taken to speak to us as a table, nobody came back to see how our food was (one order was flatly wrong, shrimp instead of chicken) and the portions were so much smaller than we'd expected. Especially the sides, they were laughably small. So would I go back? No, too many other wonderful Arthur Avenue venues to enjoy.
Appetizers - cold antipasto, small and not much meat and cheese in it. Hot antipasto - they said this took a while to prepare, but I suspect they just forgot it. When it was served, was a mess of red sauce and some kind of stuffing and eggplant. Calamari- this was ok. Dinners - the red sauce was ok. Lasagna and manicotti were the best. Anything with seafood was not fresh or good. Service was abrupt when the waiter did come by, but overall service was very slow in terms of actually getting served drinks and food. Was there 1.5 hours - no time for dessert. Have not been to other places on Arthur Avenue, but would give them a try before going here.
A great experience, nice having valet parking. Staff was friendly and accommodating as we came with small children. Fried calamari was excellent. Stracciatella soup was delicious. We had chicken parm which was very good and ordered a side of meatballs that did not disappoint. The pasta with vongole wasn’t the best. I prefer whole clams and should have asked prior to ordering. Overall a solid place and would definitely return.
Delicious and old school! The fish was fresh but the pasta was bit overcooked 🤣🤣🤣
When we first arrived we learned you had to check your coat, which was fine but you had to do it when you were just inside the door. It was a small space and not easy to maneuver. Food and service were very good at first. We did wait almost two hours for dinner and several items were not what we ordered. The waiter was lovely and just very busy. We watched as people were seated after us and were done as we still sat waiting for dinner.
Would definitely go back. Maybe on a less crowded night.
Family holiday outing after the Zoo lights. Was concerned that Mario’s would rest on its history and just go through the motions. Happy to be very pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent- clean and simple properly sauced. Atmosphere was fun and energetic wait staff kep things light if not always perfect. Fair prices good food. Nice festive atmosphere
Overall, 3 rating, food pretty bland. Ordered veal, too greasy! Very noisy! Would not return
Best Italian I have ever rated. Must try the lobster ravioli was amazing!
Mario's restaurant offers excellent food, great service and a wonderful ambiance. I would recommend Mario's to anyone asking for a recommendation for a restaurant onArthur Avenue.
Very good old school italian cuisine.
Gnocchi that are like pillows of heaven. Delicous vodka sauce with shallots amd prosciutto. Fettuccine alfredo perfectly cooked and creamy. the best spedini we've had. Just enough anchovies in the sauce but cooked down so you get the flavor and no chunks.
Service was excellent. We had 2 toddlers and 2 babies at lunch and the staff was more than accommodating.
Looking forward to gling back.
Totally enjoyed the old world atmosphere and excellent food and service
Made a reservation and got in immediately...must get cappuccinos!
