Mario's Osteria Ratings and Reviews
We’ve dined at Mario’s several times before. Our latest visit mirrored those preceding it. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table within minutes of our reservation time. Our server Leo was attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating. Our friends order the way Sally did in When Harry Met Sally. That didn’t phase Leo in the least. He told our friends what he could do and what he couldn’t. He was clear about what he could try to do without promising. The three salads were large and delicious as was my appetizer of meatballs and fried peppers. Orders of Chilean Sea Bass and Chicken Scarpiello were prepared to order and were perfect. Our orders of Bronzino and Veal Parm were exceptional. Leo and his assistant came by numerous times to make sure everything was to our liking. It was on all counts. Mario’s has earned its place as our go to Italian restaurant in the area.
We eat here often but our waiter had a bad night. Took a while for him to come to our table n til we got water n drinks was too long.
Then our food came out cold n 2 of the orders were wrong Then the check came n he billed us for an extra entree even though the manager was taking one off. So we needed to get that corrected which we did.
Not a good night
Veal parm was tough and not crispy and the breading was too thick. Big disappointment as we had had it there three days prior and were taking out of town guests to dinner. Fortunately my guests had ordered mussels, Mario’s special eggplant stack, and pasta vodka which were all delicious.
Most of our two veal parms were left on our plates and we opted not to take them home. The waiter asked why and sent the manager to speak with us. He was understanding and stated he would make things “right”..we paid the full bill and left.
Above average Italian food - beautifully presented, delicious tastes, knowledgeable staff. Only downside, the hostesses should make an effort to smile at the customers when greeting them. The two sour puss girls shouldn't have that job if it's too much effort for them.
Our normally delicious food and selection fell short of previous repasts. I asked for Veal Sorrentino (Veal and Eggplant Parmigiana) and was told that Marios has no eggplant. Not even Eggplant Parm. That was disappointing. I opted for Veal Parm but found it dried out and tasteless; the chicken dish was so smothered in cheese and watery marinara that it was difficult to find the chicken; and the waiter was loud and annoying (but because he was training someone his demeanor bordered on being an aggressive show-off. Even the Spumoni slice tasted as if it had been in the freezer far too long, and the Creme Brule was nothing special. Not Mario's Osteria's finest evening.
This restaurant came highly recommended and lived up to the hype! The reservation was honoured on time. The staff was friendly and informative. The menu has something for everyone and the food was delicious! Our server, Michael, was delightful. A good time was had by all!
This was our first time and we came for lunch. Food and service were excellent! Not rushed, tasty meals. Some good Gluten Free items and accomodations. The waitress really listened to my requests and found answers to my questions. Really enjoyed my Chef's Salad, which came already chopped. My husband's chicken and artichoke were succulent. The roasted potatoes, excellent. He also loved the hot, fresh rolls and chocolate cake for desert.
The pizza was ordered with extra cheese, it came without any cheese.
One person’s order came 10 minutes after everyone else was serviced.
The eggplant came hot on the sides, but ice cold in the middle.
One person was serviced the wrong dish, and they question the server and was that they had the right dish. Then they asked the manager and the manager looked at it and said oh you are right that is not the dish you ordered.
