Mario was the most personable host I’ve ever seen! The vegetarian tasting menu was perfection! Thanks guys. Be back soon. -Tommy and Sunny Carey
Love this place! Wandered in here a few years ago and have been a fan ever since! Staff is amazing, ambience is adorable, food selection is phenomenal, and wine list will amaze you. Definitely an old world feel to the place- classic LA that has been lost in so many other spaces and newer restaurants. Went on a date here and he loved it!
This is one of the finest restaurants in Los Angeles; Sal Marino is an innovative and supremely talented chef. His take on fish is fabulous. I have been going here for almost 35 years and it keeps getting better and better!
Marino's is a dining habit for my family. We love the restaurant and Mario!
It is always a pleasure to go to Marino! The owner, and the staff are friendly, and they remember you from past visits. Very family feeling, and the food is always incredible. When we don't go at least every 2 weeks, we crave it, so would definitely highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent, as always. Top notch customer service (through all levels of staffing). Great menu with options, but limited enough such that it is not overwhelming. Food was perfect. Nothing bad to say about this place. A true gem.
Our experience was colored only, upon arrival, by a party of 3 waiting to be seated who voiced their unhappiness, bordering on making a scene. Don't people understand, when booking an 8:30 or 9p table, that the restaurant has no control over when earlier bookings leave their tables? A bit of patience and courteous behavior should have prevailed with this party (but, unfortunately, did not). As a footnote: We did not let this party's behavior color our evening. We had a great time.
Pure Magic! Marino’s is by far the best Italian cuisine I have ever experienced. The food is beyond delicious, every bite is divine and cooked to perfection. The service is more than excellent, from the moment you walk in and are greeted, to the service your get throughout the dinner. You won’t find another establishment in Los Angeles or any other city for that matter that gives you quality like Marino’s. We had the opportunity to meet Mario the owner. He is so sweet and caring, he portrays a positive vibe and greets everyone with a warm smile. Our server Andrea was so professional and so sweet, this young Italian man suggested the best dishes and took such good care of us all night with such warmth and never overwhelmed us. Take a trip to Marino’s for a night and you’ll find yourself coming back over and over again for more.
I wish we lived closer. We’d eat there once a week. The owner is such a nice guy and the food and service are exceptional. It is our “go to” place when we go to a movie or a show in Hollywood. Can’t say enough good things about Marino.
Wonderful evening. Food was delicious and the service excellent. And it is quiet do you can converse without difficulty hearing
We four all said, "What a nice, real restaurant" - as opposed to a formulaic wannabe trendy place. Lots of good choice on the menu for appetizers, pastas and fish/meat course.
The pasta dishes are terrific, but don't overlook the fish. Wonders are created here -- with halibut, black cod, salmon, etc. The sauce for today's halibut was made with pistachio puree. Yum!!!
Chicken Parmigiana had way too much cheese, the sauce was runny and the chicken was a very thin slice of chicken. Service had way to much attitude and they try to con you into overpriced specials.
It was great experience and the food was excellent.
Also server was very kind as well
My wife and I have dined at Marino Ristorante several times over the years for birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions and it still amazes me on the quality of the service, food, ambiance and overall atmosphere. The bar and wine selection are excellent and on our recent visit the bartender was asked to create something special cocktail. The bartender delivered. Marino’s will continue to be our go to special restaurant.
I have been to Marino's more than several times and I always enjoy the experience. I keep going back so that says something....
Extraordinary place. Exceptional food and unparalleled service, this is the place you would only take your most special friends-- or anyone you are trying to deeply impress. Any time we have a special occasion, this is the first place my wife and I think of. We're so happy we found Marino! The owner is also an amazing host and human being. This is the bar to which all restaurants should be held to.
We love Marino. This was our fifth or sixth visit, and we'll be going more frequently. Excellent fish. Just superb. Excellent appetizers. Very fine, knowledgeable waiters. Diverting host. I recommend it to friends all the time.
This place is amazing. Some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had
Our favourite Italian restaurant in town. We love Mario (owner) and Sal (chef and brother of Mario), the waiters and bus boys are amazing. We had Clairie the last time and Christian/Cornelio and they were all amazing.
Sal never ceases to amaze and dazzle us with his new scrumptious creations. Mario was kind enough (2 visits ago) to accommodate us late after an event we attended.
Cheers to the lovely Marino brothers!
Another delicious mean and delightful evening at Marino Ristorante. Highly recommended!
This is a family business and a Hollywood institution. The second generation, chef Sal and maitre d Mario, grew up in the business and represent everything good about a superb dining experience. From the locally grown ingredients (Sal can be seen at the Santa Monica Farmers Market on Wednesdays and the downtown market on Saturday), to the innovative and always exciting tasting menus, to the incredibly warm and generous service from Mario and his team, to Sal's deep investigations of the world of wine, this has always been an LA favorite for me and my family. Whether it's a quiet business lunch or a family occasion (this time it was a birthday), Marino's is always at the top of the list. We live on the westside, so the Hollywood location is a journey, but always one worth taking!
Sal Marino is the best underrated chef in Los Angeles! From satisfying Italian cuisine to exquisite tasting menus, he does it all with fresh ingredients often grown in his garden, fresh fish, always quality ingredients. Sal delivers a truly satisfying dining experience!!!
I was blown away by the service and the food here. This will now be a regular stop for us.
AMAZING AS ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE SAL (CHEF) & MARIO (OWNER) & DANIEL/ANDREA SERVERS.
Marino’s is always an absolute pleasure, the meals are prepared fresh and the staff is always pleasant and friendly.
I like the owner and I feel at home and I like the food I like the fact it is a small restaurant and private
Sweet staff and excellent dinner
Love it .. finally a place we're you can talk with your friends and you don't have to scream at each other .. my boyfriend and i go very seldom out anymore you can't have conversations it's to noisy
plus were ever we go you have to stare at one ore multiple TVs ... food was fantastic ..this is my Favorit spot
Congratulation for being so different and keeping up old traditions
I will be back very soon
Marino's is good old fashioned, home made bliss. The featured specialties change daily for lunch and dinner, you can have a quiet conversation and the owner's Marion and Sal are just perfect hosts. And the food is terrific
We had a wonderful time here! We came for my birthday and everything was perfect. The service, the food, the ambience, all top notch. We will definitely be back!
It was my first time at Marino's and I truly had a wonderful experience! The dining room is lovely, charming, and romantic. The food is really delicious, probably the best Italian food I have had at a restaurant . They had e complete vegetarian tasting menu which was well thought-out and not just thrown together. The waiter recommended a great wine for our table. I am looking forward to going again!
The food and the service were terrific. They are always very open to special requests.
Great restaurant for a business or personal lunch or dinner. Friendly service, very good food quality.
food was unreal. they made us wait 80 minutes after our original reservation time to sit, and then made us wait another 20 minutes after we had given our cards to process our check at the end. the food was a dream but the operations of the restaurant could have been much smoother
Marino Ristorante is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I have dined there 4 times now, because I just keep wanting to go back. I have taken my friends, dates, and parents there on multiple occasions and it always exceeds my expectations with fantastic, personable service. The owner is one of the sweetest people and truly cares about his customers experience. 10/10 would recommend:)
If you want the best Lasagna you have ever tasted, then you need to go to Marino's Hollywood. The pasta is like a cloud floating from the plate to your mouth with these wonderful tastes that pleasure your palate.
The warm restaurant and welcoming host(s) are so cordial and courteous, they make everything so easy, especially ordering from their regular menu or the superb tasting menu that varies from week to week.
Our reservation was for 5:30 pm (for three persons). An early Saturday eve dinner.
We got there exactly on time, the restaurant was pretty much empty, but the host insisted that we go through the kitchen into a room in the back that lacked decor and the ambiance was more like my grandmother's dining room. I told him i did not like the room, and he apologized and gave me an excuse that the other room would be too noisy, rather than telling me the truth.. they had overbooked! In an effort to be accommodating, we stayed on and ordered the food and ordered a high end wine. The wine list is wonderful and reasonable. I explained that one of our guests cannot tolerate salt, and asked the server to recommend dishes that the chef can make with no salt, or ensure that salt is not added (heart pumping issues with sodium, and an important issue). The veal with fungi dish that we ended up ordering was so salty that it is unimaginable. The two of us that can tolerate salt could not handle it, and the person that cannot tolerate salt could not touch the dish. Thankfully the appetizers and the pasta course were good, so that we did not leave the table starving.
All in all a poor dining experience. The ambiance that you see on the website is not what we got. The the first two courses were fine, but the main course could have been a great dish if they had not over salted. I will not return to this place... there are so many other wonderful restaurants in LA, and it is a shame.
The food is so fresh and good. We love eating here.
Went for Valentine’s Day. Food was delicious, for both of us. Early reservation so was only a few couples when we got seated. Staff was very attentive. Value wise on the higher end of options for Valentine’s Day so if not a special date night probably can do better elsewhere.
Fantastic service and food
