Marina Kitchen - San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina Ratings and Reviews
Best brunch in downtown San Diego... HANDS DOWN!!
Even though we were having brunch their servers and chefs are still attentive and kind, You feel like there going above and beyond for you.. our servers name was Michael or Mike I believe; he's One of the best servers I've ever had in the restaurant industry.... Oh and the food is excellent!!
Chose Marina Kitchen for Thanksgiving dinner for our family of 4. Our table was ready when we arrived. We sampled all the dishes of the very extensive buffet menu. Our unanimous verdict was that the food was excellent, all servers were friendly and efficient, and we all had a great time. The wine was on special, my blend and my wife's Cab were excellent.
In particular, the turkey and the roast beef were outstanding, sliced to order at the carving stands. Salads and desserts were in ready-to-eat small servings - a good idea when you want to try everything. Side dishes - potatoes, sweet potatoes, mixed vegetables, risotto, prosciutto, breads, etc were also available, well seasoned, and very good.
All things considered, if you are looking for a high-end dinner, willing to spend about $60/person + tip, and want to feel at home in nice surroundings, this place works.
My friends and I went there for the Thanksgiving Buffett and it was really good. It was a great set up...the food was very tasty and each dish I tasted was seasoned perfectly. They had a carving table for the turkey and steak area, a cheese and cured meats station, bread area, desserts, salads, and some played up sides. I would definitely recommend this place!!!
Marina Kitchen is located in Marriott Marquise and Marine. Location is for hotel guests very convenient. Nothing very special. A selection of food, fruits. A variaty of eggs is prepared freshly every day. We had breakfast and it was ok, no wow-event but OK.
Went for our 19th anniversary.
Started great, we were steated outside per our request. View was incredible.
Waited 15 minutes before we greated, took another 15 minutes to get our drinks.
Drinks finally delivered and server left saying be right back.
20 later, drinks empty and server comes back and asked if we would like to order.
Husband appetizer, server left, didn't ask if we like refills or another beer,
After about 15 more minutes our appetizer showed up, my husband then tried explaining that we wanted the four course tasting option, and more drinks, server left after taking correct order.
I got my refilled, beer didn't show up, had to again and again for the beer.
Food is amazing, service is awful.
Cannot recommend place for the horrible didn't out the food.
Dinned on 10/8/16 @ 8:30pm
For a basic hotel restaurant, the food was good. The service, however, was awful. We had a large group - 14 girls. Thankfully I arrived early because despite reservations they had us split up at 2 tables. After I rejected that, they set up a a new table before everyone arrived. We were sat on time at 7pm but didn't get served drinks until 7:40! Thereafter, food was wrong, half our meals came out 15 mins after the others, drinks not refilled until after we repeatedly flagged down our waitress (and then it would take another 15 mins for it to arrive). Our bill was over $1200 so we weren't ordering cheaply. When we sought to address it with the manager afterwards, we were basically told "sorry, we did our best". Totally unimpressed.
outstanding burrata appetizer - excellent service.
bar scene more vibrant - we wanted a quiet conversation -had a great table by the water.
love coming to this restaurant when i am in town on business; MArina Kitchen is one of the reasons i stay at the Marriott Marquis!
Got hungry late at night and was checked in at the hotel. Conveniently located I just took an elevator down. Great food, great service so I also ordered to go! To my disappointment, they forgot to put plastic utensils. Couldn't eat ramen with my hands. They were already closed at this time so the next morning I sent my husband to the Starbucks to grap me a fork spoon.
I had been wanting to try it since I heard and read a lot about Chef Aron Schwartz and knew his presentations at the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival were pretty awesome. This pre-Bayside Summer Nights stop was the perfect place for a bite before the concert.
I was early, visited with the hostesses and went over the bar and dinner menu, they suggested a drink or a walk about the hotel but I decided on the bar and met Jena. I told her I didn't see exactly what I wanted, she asked what that was, I told her, she went to the kitchen to get a jalapeno and she made me a margarita with Don Julio Reposada and muddled jalapeno margarita, woohoo, my lips were stinging, it was perfect.
I was seated at the appointed time for my reservation and Kasey was my server. I asked about the starters and she said two might hold me but they were small. I ended up ordering just two anyway starting with the Cobia Crudo, paper thin cobia topped with cucumber, serrano chiles, purslane, pickled mushrooms and a good drizzle of olive oil. It was absolutely incredible, perfectly fresh and such wonderful flavor. Then I had the Dungeness Crab Agnolotti, with meyer lemon, spring garlic in a small puddle of nettle velouté which was delicious. With these appetizers I had a glass of Domaine Wachau 2013 Grüner Veltliner, Federspeil, Wachau, Austria.
We were attending a large conference at the other end of the property and they gave our table away when we were 15 minutes late. We waited in line, and it took 2 hours to have lunch. We were seated in the lounge instead of the restaurant, and we had to go find our waitress twice, even after finding the manager to complain.
We booked here for a full dinner and ended up leaving before ordering because turned out they were only serving their bar menu and not their dinner menu (because the hotel was not very full). So make sure you know what menu they're going to be serving before you book a table. But we went back another day to eat at the bar when we did want bar food and the bar food was really very good and the bartender was a true pleasure to chat with. So recommend Marina Kitchen at least for that.
We chose to dine at the Marina Kitchen because they were listed on the Live Music Earth website as having live music every weekend. We went on a Sunday and discovered that "weekend" means Friday and Saturday. We stayed because we had driven an hour to get there and were treated to average, over priced food. Nichole, our dinner server, gave us outstanding service... the only highlight of the evening. Earlier in the evening, we wanted a couple of beers before dinner and found nice seats in the lounge. Although we had a menus at our table, we wasted considerable amount of time to discover there was no wait staff to take our order...we had to go to the bar directly.
