Marie Nicole's Grill Ratings and Reviews
Save your money! There can be no excuse for inedible food. There can be no excuse for sending to table mussels of which half failed to open in two separate dishes, perhaps the French fries floating atop we're meant to hide that fact. There can be no excuse for serving a $42 filet mignon well past it's prime and pork so tough a dinosaur would have difficulty chewing. Salmon with a slight nose, but still edible. It's shameful when a restaurant counts on folks not wanting to "make a scene' to dump their waste on the table and expect people to pay for it. Needless to say, once was too much.
Arrived early and received great service at the bar from Ann! The dining room is lovely and the service was very good. While the veal parmesan was one of the best ever, the pasta "gravy" left a lot to be desired. I would, however, come back as overall the meal was very good.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Marie Nicole's. The fish special was amazing, however the veal parm was dry and chewy. The server was excellent, but the wait for our meal was way too long. We would return again and hope that a few things are improved. Wonderful bar, drinks and bartenders!
We went for dinner as a family of 6. Everyone enhanced their meal. The food was excellent, service attentive and the ambiance was relaxing. Now keeping in mind this is of season. We hope to go again the next time we are at the shore. Hope the in - season experience is just as awesome.
Good, but could be better.
Food and service were good. However, though my fusilli dish was tasty, the pasta, which was disguised as such, were long and tubular--not what I know fusilli to be. This "new" fusilli, was heavier pasta than I expected and made a very good meal, heavier than it needed to be.
Also, for a restaurant which does pride itself on its wine list, to not list wines by the glass on its wine list is a serious omission.
Expensive for food that was not outstanding. Veal dish had too much breading, was $42 and meals don't even include a salad. A Caesar salad was $12 and a glass of house wine was $12. Our waiter was attentive and amicable but that doesn't make up for the food pricing. We don't mind an expensive meal when it is really good
We visited Marie Nicole's for the first time this past Sunday night. The restaurant specializes in martinis and we tried the peachy peach. It was very tasty for summer. The food was delicious. Nice variety of choices- seafood, pork, lamb and pasta. The restaurant is a little pricey and sedate so children would not be a good plan.
Was pleasantly surprised by the food since this restaurant replaced one of my favorites in Avalon. Was hoping they would keep the white cranberry cosmos. Oh,well. Some reviews complained about the prices and the waiter did include the price in their descriptions of the specials. However, this is the shore, people, and there was a fixed prix meal on the menu. Will definitely plan on another visit before they close for the season.
wrote detailed review on yelp. was hoping for a nice meal but kitchen didn't cook filet as ordered; incorrect dish was brought for my husband. drink prices were high and cost of bill was very high for the meal with no mention of apology for dinner mishap. would expect more for this price tag!
The servers were great and attentive. Their competence could not, however, make up for the food. We were there early and ordered the halibut special. The server returned and said it was not available but they had snapper. The food was over salted, and I like salt.
They have just moved to a new location. Maybe by next better. The cost was just too high for the
lack of quality of the food.
Had such a poor dining experience that we will not be returning.
Slices of peaches served with a Mozzarella appetizer were as hard as an unripened apple!
(And keep in mind, this is during the height of peach season in the garden state of NJ!)
When we asked for ripe peach slow slices,
the waiter returned and said, "I'm sorry.
We don't have any ripe peaches."
So why is this item on the menu?!?
The filet was supposed to be prepared medium but it was served rare!
My wife's lamb was gamey and undercooked.
The summer salad was supposed to have summer corn, but it had very little in it.
And my wife's martini was watered down and made incorrectly.
Not going back again. Better food at McDonalds!
Seated for reservation promptly. Our server, Dawn, was attentive and friendly and provided truly outstanding service. The calamari and peach salad appetizer special were outstanding. Crab cake, pasta bolognese, and filet all nice size portions and perfectly prepared. Excellent meal and service.
Another 'just ok' restaurant in Avalon. Very limited menu, adequate service, not a special meal. The one exception was the steak special. Seasoned perfectly and cooked to order. I hope they reconsider their approach over the winter and people give them a second chance next season.
Some people will say a restaurant is expensive when they don't actually qualify what they really mean. I will say Marie Nicole's Grill IS expensive simply because the food is average but the price was high.
I had a similar meal the night before that was excellent BUT spent much less, therefore, Marie Nicole's Grill IS expensive.
I had Grouper (the restaurant called it something else) with sea scallops and something that looked like tiny corn over a salad. My wife had a lobster and a cherry Tomato Mozzarella Salad. I expected the food to be as high end as the price but I was disappointed.
First time at the new Avalon location and found it to be very dark. Couldn't even read the menu. Our waitress, Marie was on her first night there and she was fantastic. So that made up from somethings but the kitchen was a little slow and it wasn't very crowded. Food was good but not great and the cioppino was good it could have been great if the clams were open and if the other shell fish was out of the shells. Too hot to pick up to remove.
Good could have been great but if Marie wasn't there it would have been a bummer
Very good food and service but dated and stodgy environment. Would benefit from upgraded window treatments and furniture. Pricey for the ambience created. I will try the bar next year to see if any upgrades were made. Lighting was poor and the wines by the glass list was too limited and not sufficient quality to match the food.
Had the lamb. Was good, but a bit too fatty. Also had Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was very good (not great). Service was excellent.
I have been to Marie Nicole's in Wildwood numerous times. I found the food to be better there (perhaps Avalon is still on a learning curve).
Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening, and I would go back. I'm glad we have another nice dining choice in Avalon.
We had a reservation for 8:30 on a Sunday night. We arrived early and luckily we were seated early after having a drink at the bar. Walt, the bartender, interceded for us with the hostess and as a result we were seated shortly after our drinks were served.
The food was beautifully served and it was delicious. The calimari was the best I've ever had! There were different entres and they included Veal chop Milanese, filet mignon, crab cakes, and a pasta dish. Our grandosn enjoyed chicken fingers and french fries. Everything was exceptional and we will definitely return.
Was excited to try Marie Nicole's as there were so many great reviews when it was in Wildwood. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Waters were poured for the four of us, then we waited about 15-20 minutes for the waiter to take our drink order. The drinks were very good when they arrived. The waiter took our order then at least 30 minutes or more went by and the waiter comes over and tells us it will be about 10-15 minutes more before our food would come out. I suspect he forgot to put the order in originally when he took it. He did buy us a round of drinks for the wait, so there was an attempt to make it right. Our food was very good when it did arrive - crab cakes, salmon & shrimp, pasta dishes. Quality was good, decor is dated as it's still the old Fuze but I think they are planning on renovating after the summer season. Still working out some kinks with the move but I would try it again.
The restaurant had just opened for business and their menu was somewhat limited because it is stil a new location and not fully staffed.
The bar attendants took good care of us. Our meals were delicious and we were impressed by the service which was very good. We would recommend Marie Nicole's to our friends and certainly come back again.
