Mariachi Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We love Mariachi! The food and service are consistently great. I think the restaurant could use some updating, but you can't beat the food and service. We love the tamal de elote, and enjoy that they have traditional juice drinks, like horchata and maranon.
Outstanding & authentic Mexican food! Menu had delicious tamale de elote which is not usually on local menus. Sacramento platter had a chili relleno, taco and enchilada plus sides of rice and beans. Outstanding service as well. Attentive service but not overly so. Server & musicians were considerate of two children in our party. A nice feature if this restaurant is that the tables are nicely spaced so diners do not feel that they are sitting too close to one another. And the house margaritas are excellent!
My family has been to Mariachis many times and we love it. They offer Mexican and Spanish cuisine and everything is made with care. Definitely try their carne asada or the Camerones Azteca.
And, the service is great. Attentive and very nice.
I was very disappointed. I found this restaurant on open table and made reservations through same as I have an allergy and prefer to alert the kitchen. We went on cinco de mayo after lunch hour. They did not acknowledge myopen table reservation, nor did any of the staff.
Because we asked for more time to order and work throug my allergy, the staff vanished for long periods.
The food was as served mediocre. We ordered the chorizo fondu appetizer, which came only moments before our meal. It was a lump of barely warm cheese , did not have chorizo (was the same as beef filling in enchiladas) and only had three tortillas for two people. Advertised as spicy, but not. The staff did not appear for 10 minutes, so hard to complain. We ordered rellenos off the dinner menu because it was not on a lunch menu. One had seeds and stem, the other did not.
Will seek Frederick Mexican elsewhere.
This unassuming local gem has a menu that includes Mexican, Spanish and Portuguese options, some vegetarian, and great fish-based dishes. I'm not a fan of Mexican food unless it's authentic, so usually don't dine at restaurants that feature mexican or Tex-Mex menus. On good friends' recommendation, I ventured with them to Mariachi's and (yes) ordered from the Mexican menu. With great surprise, the enchiladas were very good - amply stuffed with shredded chicken. The plate comes with pinto beans, not refried beans. That's all right; they were delicious! The rice was done perfectly (not mushy), and the sour cream was true sour cream (not a mix of yogurt or milk).
Next time, I'll order the mussels done spanish style, and possibly some Paella - that is, if they will omit any squid. (I consider squid as bait, not fit for humans.)
One note of caution... When dining out anywhere, you are relying on the kitchen staff who often are paid meager wages and who are tasked to prep the food in a hurry. Be careful to chew your food thoroughly; don't wolf! Better to be safe. I found a little checken bone in the enchilada shredded chicken filling. Not a happy find, but clearly this is not a common occurrence. Customers would not tolerate this and the place was packed; tables turning over every 1/2 hour! My guess is this was an anomaly, borne from an overburdened kitchen. Management take note - and don't beat up your workers - hire more of them to serve your growing needs.
One of our favorites in Frederick, and that's saying a lot. There are dozens and dozens of great restaurants in Frederick. We love the Mexican style food here, the great service, reasonable prices. Never had a disappointing experience here and we've gone a couple of dozen times over the last 2-3 years.
Taste of food was very good! Our service was not. The waiter was pleasant but not on top of things. Took quite a bit to be noticed after being seated as well as getting our plates cleaned up after finishing (Waiter was seen sitting down with another waitress at a table near the bar). Other than that the food was very good. Will def. be back.
