I love this place. It is very special to me. I took my daughter to celebrate her college acceptance. Thursday night's are caviar buffet nights.

Wonderful lunch at Mari Vanna. The roasted beets with prunes and caramelized goat cheese salad is absolutely delicious -- an imaginative take and what's become a menu staple. The eggplant rolls are also to die for. A great spot to go with vegetarians -- no one will feel like they're settling.

Great place for a cold night meal...very cozy....comfort food that is authentically Russian. Well worth the trip and experience. Excellent happy hour with naturally flavored vodka. It can get very loud however with a live accordion player.

This is my new favorite brunch spot. It’s a buffet with a bottomless mimosa or Bloody Mary option. The food is delicious and the waiters are excellent. This place is a hidden gem!

Amazing place. Never have Russian food experience before but it was remarkable by being coworkers for bday dinner. One slight hiccup was the first server said we could order happy hour menu when we were seated upstairs, then other servers came back and forth that we couldn’t. We couldn’t care less since it was a special occasion so it was a bit embarrassing and we just wanna eat.

This was a great choice for brunch! I had a friend staying in town who had spent a significant amount of time in Russia and she loved it. The food and decor were authentic. The atmosphere was laid back and the service was great. We never felt pressured or rushed. Highly recommend a visit!

The best beet salad in the world is served here. And the Blinis (mushroom) are out of the world. Stay away from the potato pancakes filled with either meat or mushrooms. Too heavy! Wonderful Russian waiters who are eager to please.

Overall it's pretty good, nice and beautiful staff, a cool guy with an accordion is really impressing and creating real some Russian atmosphere. But the place is a little too expensive and the most important thing is when I asked for a piece of Russian black bread, I've got (and probably was charged for) a big plate of both white and black bread that is something not even close to the real Russian bread. The latter needs to be fixed, guys if you claim yourselves to be a Russian restaurant.

Thank you!

What an adorable surprise! The decor is fantastic - full of home Russian touches. We enjoyed amazing Russian vodka, both plain and infused with honey and oats. We had an assortment of vegetarian/pescatarian foods including smoked fish, turnovers and borsht. All delicious! Our waitress was lovely and attentive. Only two small complaints: the accordion player is annoying when he gets close to the table, and no one greeted us when we walked in the door. Otherwise, a terrific experience.

Dined late on a Pelmini Tuesday. I got my usual orders of Siberian dumplings (one boiled, one sautéed) and a side of buckwheat. She couldn't find a soup that appealed, so got the lamb-stuffed pastry and took home a order of chicken wings. She later reported that that the wings were very tasty and a bigger order than she expected.

Service was very friendly and attentive. Despite it being closing time, we were not rushed.

Out if kielbasa at the beginning of the dinner hour but the chicken Kiev was an acceptable substitute. Sautéed spinach was good.

Excellent Beef Borsht, authentic Russian cuisine. Hope to try more dishes next time. The cured herring was a little salty for my taste, but went well with the roasted potatoes.

We ate at MV before comedy club - and found it to be simply fantastic! The infused vodkas are just delicious - and the food was equally tasty. The service was great, the authentic decorations and the live music made for a great evening. Will surely return.

Stopped in for Pelmini Tuesday after a tour of the US Supreme Court, panel discussion of the coming Court term, and visit to the special Narwhal exhibit in the Natural History museum. I had two servings of Siberian dumplings (boiled and sautéed) and a side of buckwheat as usual and as usual found them very tasty. She got the lamb-filled fried dumpling (Khinkali) and tuna salad. The latter was rarer than she liked, so she took most of it home and reported that after additional cooking it was delicious.

We sampled the infused vodkas and ended with the Honey Pepper (her) and Strawberry (me) for dessert.

Service was friendly and efficient.

We definitely will return to Mari Vanna on another Tuesday.

Food was good. Not certain that we are fans of Russian food, but it was a pleasant evening. Tried various savory meat/pastry appetizers. Pastry was quite good. Fillings varied as to whether we liked them or not. Fun to try new things. Chicken Kiev was quite good. Kielbasa was too hearty for our tastes.

I had a wonderful experience at Mari Vanna DC. I was there with my mom and two children. We were seated right away. The ambiance was great and service was excellent. Our waiter could have not been more attentive and nice to my children. Food was very simple, but delicious, exactly as promised on the menu. The entire restaurant had a very home like feel. It was like having dinner at your Russian grandma's house. Portions were quite sizable. We ordered two appetizers and two main courses and could not finish it all. I really enjoyed this restaurant and will definitely come back.
