Mari Vanna DC
Excellent Russian food, I love this place. Only minor issue is I wish the restaurant was quieter.
Wonderful place for a date! If you like an experience to get you out of your world for a while this place will take you away.
Service was friendly and attentive and the food was fantastic, especially the dumplings. Portion size was just right. The house infused vodkas are delicious and I wish I could have tried them all. But the decor and ambiance was my favorite part of the dining experience. It’s very quirky and cozy, and even though it was busy when we went, the noise levels were not amplified as they are in many restaurants. Menu prices were about what I would expect for a restaurant of its size, location and quality. Our bill was actually a little lower than I expected it would be going in. It is a great find and I look forward to eating there again soon.
Our server was very good and was able to answer all of our questions. She brought a dessert w a candle for my daughter’s birthday
Very Good Food and Service!
My husband and I ate here for our 10th anniversary. The restaurant was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The cocktails were delicious, as was the food. The waitresses were very pleasant. We were seated at a 2-person table beside a window at the front of the restaurant. It was a very romantic setting. We will definitely be back! I recommend the beef stroganoff and the honey cake for dessert.
Fun restaurant with a hard to find cusine. But... seems like another Restaurant whose success has filled it. The famous Golubkis were wrapped in WAY overcooked, tasteless cabbage, and the filling was "blah" with little flavor. The very unique and special offering of Khinkali was, infortunately poorly executed as well: the dumpling was more than al dente- it was chewy, and the lamb filling again was bland. And force restaurant famous for its high-end vodkas, my Russian Standard martini was poorly made with WAY too much vermouth and grocery-store type of small green-brown olives that were not worth eating. Ashame, as good Russian cuisine is so very hard to find.
We’ve enjoyed Mari Vanna on 3 occasions now. I love the decor and the atmosphere. It does get a little noisy, but it is a lively place. The food is very good. I enjoy bringing friends from out of town.
My new favorite D.C. restaurant. Excellent, authentic Eastern European cuisine. Service and overall experience could not have been better. For me, a big part of my travel is about the food. This is a place & experience you should not miss.
Once again, everything was great. Alexi did a great job. Borscht was perfect as well as the chicken Kiev. Highly recommended.
Delicious. Nice staff. Pretty place.
The food was well prepared. We had the potato Russian dumplings which were good in flavor with a light sauce. We also order the chicken Kiev and the stroganoff. Both were well prepared. We thought however, that this place is over priced for the type of food they served us. Good, simple but a bit too expensive. The service was good and the dessert (we had Medovik or honey Russian cake) were very good as well. Good ambiance. We liked it.
Thank you girls had an amazing time
It was an amazing experience. Wine, cheese board, eggplant rolls were perfect! I'll definitely come back when I'm around. Decorations also very nice. It was more than a restaurant. I mostly felt like I'm in a museum. Even plates were came from 50's.
Very tiny portions. People looked hungry on the way out.
We went back to our roots and dined at Mari Vanna. The service was incredibly nice, and they worked exceptionally well as a team. The borscht and blinis were worth the visit.
Beautiful restaurant, very tasty & well-prepared & nicely presented food. The antithesis of sterile DC steakhouse restaurants.
As delightful and delicious as ever. Yulia (?) on my spelling and Andrei were terrific guides for evening. The borscht could have easily been the meal. Hearty and full of flavor. The Andrei recommended chicken Kiev was outstanding. Kudos to the great chefs.
Mari Vanna has a great buffet-style brunch with a lot of food options. The dumplings are amazing and the desserts are tasty too. They are very attentive with the mimosa refills!
It was my Birthday. I like this place
I love this restaurant! It's really a gem and very much reminds me of Russia. Authentic food, beautiful atmosphere, great service. I go as often as possible and recommend to anyone who is in DC.
Absolutely loved it!! Very authentic with awesome decor and atmosphere. Food was incredible.
The ambiance and decor at Mari Vanna is wonderful and so unique! You feel like you are truly in a family owned European cafe. The food was very good, service was prompt and our server who had recently arrived from the Ukraine, was adorable. We will definitely go again.
Mari Vanna is a feast for the stomach and senses! The entire place is gorgeous and the brunch was superb. As a note: Nearly all the seating downstairs is high top seating so if you have mobility issues please keep that in mind.
Excellent food. Waited awhile for someone to take the order.
The food and people are wonderful here. Haven’t been to another Russian restaurant in DC again after finding this one.
Great food and service -- they were very accommodating with a stroller
Very cute on the inside, great service and yummy food!
Great staff! Not crazy about the front corner window seat we had. Very tight seating and we had to listen to every incoming customer but a good view of the street. I American) enjoyed the lamb shashlik. Wife (Russian) thought Shuba wasn’t very fresh.
Attentive staff, cold beer, good cheese board. We left very full and satisfied. Overall good experience. We would return.
I really like this place. I have been here twice now and the atmosphere is lively and the food is great.
We met our guest who was already seated on the 3rd level since there was a special event on the 2nd. When hostess greeted us, she simply showed us the stairs without escorting us up. First level is really just a bar from what we could tell. Some high tops for seating, but definitely a rowdy, bar atmosphere not conducive to dining (or certainly not conversation). Specialty cocktails are $22, so we opted for a shot of infused vodka (very good) for $7 each. Wine prices, on the other hand, were quite reasonable. The dumpling appetizer we wanted took over 20 minutes to prepare, so we opted for a different one (which was quite tasty). Meals were ordinary and served at room temperature. I am guessing that was because they had to be delivered to the 3rd floor...Cherry dumplings for desert were delicious.
The quality of the pickled plate has dropped. The presentation and taste are not the same. Also they do not serve potato pancakes anymore
Always great. Excellent service. Beef stroganoff and borscht was fantastic. Fun place to be.
Steak is excellent
I love that place, and go there each time I get the opportunity - usually it's pre-theater dinner. The food is great, service is great as well - what more do you need? There is also live music (the guy with accordion comes around 7 pm), and, in case you care, nice selection of homemade vodka. I don't drink vodka at all, but I make an exception for theirs horseradish one.
The food was not fresh at all. We all felt sick afterwards. I like the interior decorations and the taste of the food but feeling sick is not fun.
Homey food for those with Russian in their blood. All the favorites. You could be in St. Petersburg with the accordionist playing.
The food js good and the place looks very nice
