Margaritaville, located in San Francisco, is a beach-lifestyle themed restaurant owned by and themed after Jimmy Buffet. Named for one of Buffet's most well-known songs, Margaritaville is based on fun and escapism. The restaurant is decorated to instantly transport diners to a tropical paradise, often complete with tiki bars, Hawaiian leis, and sunsets painted onto walls. Diners are treated to a stream of Jimmy's music with TVs that play classic music videos. The menu is inspired just as much by American cuisine as it is by island life. A Cheeseburger in Paradise is always a good choice, as is one of their signature fish entrees. However, the number one thing to get at Margaritaville is the Volcano Nachos. Not named for their heat, this is a pile of nachos so high that it literally resembles a mountain. If you're going to order one, bring about three friends with you.
My husband, my daughter and I had a great time at Margaritaville! We arrived an hour early and were able to get in and get an outside seat. Service was great and the food was too. Good portion sizes for the price. I expected our bill to be well over $100 but was pleasantly surprised to find it to only be around $75 including tip. The margaritas were $4 a piece which I thought was quite a steal considering this restaurant is located in a very touristy area!
I made a reservation for an outside table. When we arrived, they told us it was not possible to be seated outside due to a private party. I was very disappointed and feel that I should not have been able to reserve a table in the outdoor seating area if there was a private party during the time I requested. Especially since we drive from San Jose. Also, the ribs we ordered were very tough and they put way too much bbq sauce on them.
Delicious sizzling Fajitas 1 serving enough for 2 people!
Had a great first night with yummy fajitas for 2, enjoyed them so much we had to go back a second night. The best part of our meal was the delicious berry margaritas. I will be back again.
My sister and I were pleasantly surprised when we stayed in Capitola and ate at Margaritaville. Food was good, service was good and the view was spectacular. Ate at the fancier place next door the next night and did not enjoy it as much.
We had an enjoyable Mother's Day dinner at Margaritaville. It started off with getting seated promptly as we arrived. They had a table saved for us on the patio, per my request through OpenTable. That was impressive. The service slow, but we were not in a hurry, so all in all, it was good.
I wasn't too impressed with Margaritaville. It isn't what it used to be. The food was so so. Nothing too special.
Great time and food was really good. Special place for a special occasion.
