Margaret Kuo's - Wayne Ratings and Reviews
Great food, especially the Peking Duck. Also had White Tea which was excellent compliment to overall meal.
Great service, greeted and sat immediately. Maitre d and waiter checked on us, but not so much as to interfere with enjoying our meal.
Quiet atmosphere where you can actually have a pleasant conversation with your dinner companions.
Ive been here with family, friends and business associates.
What a lovely and special dinner! We went to celebrate a birthday, and I think every member of the staff must have come to wish me a happy day. I had asked for a quiet table, and we have a perfect corner booth, upstairs, that was perfect for conversation. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed such quiet in a restaurant! We started with rock shrimp tempura, which was fabulous, and my sister had the black sesame tuna with ginger sauce which was gorgeous and delicious! I had the wild salmon teriyaki, which was divine! They even brought us a wonderful gelato, on the house, and sang Happy Birthday! It was a marvelous meal and a genuinely touching effort on their part! Go, you will love Margaret Kuo's!
When Susanna Fu closed I went into a deep depression, but then a friend turned me on to Margaret Kuo, which, amazingly, is just down the road. MK is terrific, two lovely dining rooms (one Chinese, one Japanese), Mr. Kuo presiding over everything. We were almost the only non-Asians in the restaurant (we ate early), which is always a good sign.
The food at Margaret Kuo's is fresh, beautifully prepared, and the sauces are simply delicious. My shrimp tempura was the best I have had. My lunch companion reported that her beef stew was amazing. The attention to each and every detail of a fine dining experience is obvious at every turn, and greatly appreciated.
The dining room was attractive, but there were no Asian diners--and I understood the reason after we tasted the food. The preparations have been modified for unadventurous American tastes. Although the ambiance was rather elegant, the service was surprising inexpert. Portions were small compared to what we have experienced at other Chinese restaurants in our region. We like good Chinese cuisine, and overall we were disappointed.
The place had a nice ambiance and the owners are very nice! Quiet graduation lunch for us with a very nice authentic chinese menu. The spicy wasn't so much and I could have used the authentic hotness for the dish I chose but it was delicious! All in all a great restaurant with incredible authentic Chinese menu and quiet comfortable atmosphere!
Took our granddaughter for her 12th b'day and everyone was exceptionally welcoming, kind and attentive. Decor was lovely and restaurant quiet which we really enjoyed. Food was fabulous! We are lucky that she is always willing to try new foods and she loved the presentation of the Peking Duck, but enjoyed eating even more. Her first try at wonton soup was a success as well. This was our first visit and we will definitely be back.
Thanks to everyone for making here birthday dinner a great success!!
Glad I made a reservation- when I arrived there were few tables open which is nice to see at such a wonderful restaurant. Jasmine green tea was divine and the tempura ginger ice cream was a unique flavor treat. As usual the service was top notch! I will be back soon for the cucumber plate which I have begun picking it up at their counter in the Lancaster farmers market in Wayne because they are so addicting!!!
One of the best places - the service was way above other restaurants. They made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in to the minute we left. The food was excellent - every dish was delicious! A+++! Thank you to the Margaret Kuo team! We will definitely be back.
We lived in Asia for a long time with stretches in Taiwan and Hong Kong. So we know something about Chinese food. My wife chose the Chinese New Year special menu and I chose General Tsao's chicken (Not a real Chinese Dish since it seems to be served only in the US). The restaurant was full with very few Chinese dining in, usually a bad sign. Because it was full the kitchen was very busy and we were told a bit confused. The special meal came with tiny morsels of food, generally overcooked. The General Tsao's chicken was also over cooked and the dish was poorly garnished with vegetables. I have had better food at a lot less cost in other US Chinese restaurants. I will say that the preparation was in many was more traditional that I have found in other Chinese Restaurants in the US. Maybe if the kitchen wasn't so busy, the food would have been prepared better. Our server was excellent and we have no complaints with him.
Margaret Kuo's Wayne location is really two restaurants in one--and both are outstanding. The Chinese dining room downstairs is large and lushly appointed, while the upstairs Japanese room is more intimate, with two tatami rooms as well as tables, booths, and a small bar area. The good news for families like ours who love both Chinese and Japanese cuisine is that you can order from both menus no matter where you sit. In addition to sumptuous food, Margaret Kuo's is famous for its extensive wine and sake lists. Whether you're looking for an inexpensive glass or a thousand-dollar bottle of wine, you'll be pleased with the selections. I can't say enough about this gem of a restaurant.
On the first real snow of this winter, we knew where to go to get a delicious, warm and inviting meal. Wonderful presentation and let's face it - 4 inches of snow and bitter cold temperatures call for Saki and Miso soup! The always charming Warren Kuo greeted us at the door and took very good care of us. A wonderful dinner and we even enjoyed the 2-2-2 sushi sampler as an appetizer. Two terrific pieces of Maguro, Smoked Salmon and Yellow Tail - fresh and delicious. If you haven't been go, if you haven't been in a while - it's time to go back!
Me and my husband came here on the evening of Christmas. We were seated at a small table next to a table of 4. I kinda felt like we were dining with them because we were sitting so close to them and I found it hard to carry on a conversation with my husband. We loved the cucumbers and peanuts they set out as a little appetizer. We ordered the steamed pork dumplings that were very tasty but unfortunately cold. We got the Peking duck which was amazing!!! Though they forgot our pancakes and scallions and had to wait a few minutes. Everything was super tasty! My only gripe was the cold dumplings and slow service but we knew it was going to be very busy being Christmas night. We are looking forward to coming here again but on a quieter evening.
