What started as a negative turned into a very positive experience that night. Unfortunately the restaurant was listed as a participant in Media's Restaurant Week and when we were seated for dinner we found out then that the restaurant was not participating after all by Margaret's directive. We decided to stay and enjoy a meal after all and I'm very glad we did! From the delicious complimentary appetizer of the pickled cucumbers and seasoned peanuts to the tasty won-ton soup, we knew we made a good choice to stay. Our entrees were perfect - Imperial Shrimp and Pork with Broccoli - and I would heartily recommend them.
The hostess was so gracious as we were leaving and thanked us for staying for dinner, apologizing again for the mix-up with Restaurant Week, and offered us each a complimentary package of almond cookies. I was so impressed with her kindness, our waiter's graciousness and the fine cuisine that I will be a frequent customer at Margaret Kuo's!
The complimentary cucumber appetizers are outstanding, and the peanuts are also gratis, as is true in China. We had a whole range of dishes, suited to our vegan-gluten-free guest and our adventurous taste buds: Eggplant, scalllop and shrimp, vegetarian soup, a wonderful crispy-fried tofu dish, and of course--Peking Duck. All were wonderful, and we were most apprcoiative of the staff, who moved our reservation to an earlier slot when it turned out to be necessary...without a wait or a whimper.
Always great food and service. The imperial Shrimp was excellent as was the Tangerine 3 Delicacy (shrimp, scallops and chicken). And the Sesame Chicken is like no other, delicious. We’ll return soon!
We've been disappointed last few visits, must not be ordering the best things on the menu. We had duck, shrimp and also a beef dish. Except for the beef, lovely presentations for the most part, but overly salty and just ordinary.
A neighborhood fav and are in here frequently! Never disappoints!
Never a bad experience here. I prefer the Japanese food, but the rest of the family likes the Chinese.
Very good food and service.
Have been going there for 10 yrs. never a bad meal. Always great service. Mrs Kuo is a gracious host. Best sushi in the area.
It was very easy to get a reservation for that night, just make sure you do it ahead of time otherwise you may have to wait. The waiter was nice, we didn’t talk to him much. The place was very nicely decorated and was perfect for the occasion. I wish we were at a different table so we could talk more but it was overall a great experience! Everyone was very nice and helpful!
My family enjoyed a special dinner gathering at this restaurant last weekend. Super service, very tasty food.
We enjoy Margaret kuo’s because it is consistent. The service is slow, the drink list is average, and the food is good. It will be this way every time you go, which is actually why we go. The atmosphere is good with moderate noise level. As long as you know the above, you will never leave disappointed. Consistentcy is good!
Margaret Kuo's remains a standout in the Philadelphia suburbs for top Chinese and Japanese cuisine. The cute restaurant in Media is cozy with a modern yet warm Asian decor. The food is outstanding. The hot and sour soup remains one of the best I've had anywhere (including China) and the sushi bar turns out the classics plus more modern rolls and other sushi offerings. Service is attentive and efficient.
I love this place! I came here for lunch with my friend often. Everything is very fresh and tasty. I enjoy their Lunch Menu so as my friend.
This is our absolute favorite restaurant in the entire Media and metro area. Food is outstanding and the service is fantastic. Highly recommend!!
The food was amazing, the service was great. Some have said the food is pricey, but it was reasonably worth it.
Even though we had a reservation and have been to this restaurant many times before with plenty of tables available, we were rudely seated in the corner of the front of the restaurant, which was colder than the rest of the restaurant. My wife’s fish (done in a stone bowl table side) took 50 minutes to arrive and had very little fish in it. When we brought this to the staff’s attention, we were told that they would make it with more fish next time. Very disappointing and not the usual quality we’ve previously experienced here.
Great restaurant! Was there for Restaurant week and a little disappointed. They didn't specify anywhere that there would be a limited restaurant week menu like other restaurants have done.
Margaret Kuo’s was so amazing! My boyfriend and I went there for an anniversary dinner and loved everything. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding!!
Delicious as always! Nice, cozy atmosphere. We celebrated a friend's birthday, and the restaurant allowed us to bring in a cake. Service is always great.
Another wonderful meal, we are never disappointed. The sushi
was amazing, as was the Nabe soup.
Servers did not introduce themselves and seemed to be in a rush.
Great food and service. A pleasure to dine there.
Food quality is not consistent, previous cook is way better
We had a great dinner with great service! The House Special Wonton soup was delicious.
The dining experience was very good, although upon using the restroom, the experience was marred. Restroom was unclean, untidy, & stinky. Definitely a turn off that makes one wonder what the cleanliness is like in the kitchen. Must be fixed!!!
It was our first trip to the Media location, but we have visited the Mandarin in Malvern for years. Comparing any restaurant to Mandarin is a tall order, even for another Margaret Kuo restaurant, but the Media restaurant did very well.
Had the Peking Shrimp ... outstanding!
Service was wonderful and will return soon!
Food is consistently good. Never had a bad meals at Margaret Kuo's. Recommend reservations
Margaret Kuo's is a very accommodating restaurant. food is very good, my favorite is their wonton soup.
Dinner was disappointing. The wonton soup was very bland. The sushi was mushy. The garlic shrimp tasted more salty than with garlic. I have eaten here before and found the food to be very unappealing compared with our last dining experience. The service was adequate, but was not memorable in any way.
Food was great. Restaurant is very nice. Noise level good. Very nice place to dine. One problem. We were five people and the waiter never brought one dinner item we ordered. We ordered items to be shared and he never brought the spare ribs. Ms Kuo was there that night and she is a very, very nice host.
Very well-prepared traditional and gourmet Chinese dishes. Never fails to satisfy.
Upscale Chinese and Japanese food at reasonable prices. BYO on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday make it a terrific place to enjoy. Food is always delicious. Service always attentive and knowledgeable.
going to this restaurant starting at its old location since the '80's. always good and recently getting even better. Now w/ excellent Japanese in addition.
Excellent food! Superior sushi. Great for gluten free families.
The restaurant was booked and not taking walk ins but there was only one person working the reception area managing all calls, take orders on the phone, take out order pick ups and those coming in with reservations. She spent almost 15 minutes taking calls and managing take out orders before making eye contact with us and we had a reservation. There was also only one sushi chef and we were told it could be an hour wait for sushi. The food was delicious and we did wait for sushi. The wait staff was very apologetic. If the restaurant was booked to capacity for the night, they should have prepared and staffed accordingly.
Atmosphere is very comfortable and inviting, the food is outstanding, but our experience with our server was quite unprofessional. He continually grabbed dishes and food from our table without asking if we were finished.
The food here is great and I love the combined Japanese/Chinese menu.
