Marco Polo Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Came here for a birthday celebration with a group of 14. Very accommodating, easy to arrange, nothing was too much trouble. Friendly service throughout from front of house to bar staff to servers. Excellent cocktails at the bar. Varied menu offering old-school Italian classics and specials cooked right - without being overly fancy or ostentatious. Very good wine list on top and reasonable prices.
We were celebrating a birthday and it was the perfect restaurant for a nice occasion. The ambiance was spot on, with white table cloths and votive candles, and soft lighting. It was quiet since it was a Monday night, but that’s how we like it. Our dinner was delicious, and the service was excellent ! They even brought out a birthday surprise, gelato with a candle. All in all a perfect evening.
Date with my wife! Very good food, excellent service, no complaints. The food was prepared to let you taste the ingredients not the salt or heavy sauce. Very attentive service. Very comfortable. Better than any Italian restaurant have been to in Manhattan (but of course -- this is Brooklyn)!
Our foursome had a delicious dinner. Shrimp cocktail and fried artichoke appetizers were delicious. Veal chop, gnocchi and ravioli main courses were stand outs. Service was pleasant and efficient. This place has all of the things we look for in a neighborhood restaurant--an "A" rating from the Health Dept. inspection, comfortable, well-spaced seating, low volume music allowing for conversation, reliably good food and service and, for downtown Brooklyn, convenient, available parking for dinner. It's what many good restaurants used to be like, but hard to find today in Brooklyn. Trendy, loud, congested and gimmicky restaurants abound, many without convenient parking. Few survive as long as this place has.
Some reviewers stated the ambiance was dated, we totally disagree. The place was lit with votive candles and white tablecloth; very nice. I will say, the Fettuccine al Vino was tasteless; although they will put on an unexpected table side presentation. The chicken Marsala was the standout dish! We will definitely be back!
This restaurant has evolved from a very good red sauce restaurant to a creative and inventive restaurant.
Our meal was delicious...artichoke, octopus and oyster Rockefeller on point.
Don't miss the wine fettuccine prepared in a huge parmesan reggiano wheel...
This is a great neighborhood gem
It took 30 minutes to get anything we ordered. Everytime. Waiters were inattentive and everyone who came in after our table was served first. I've never been so furious. I will never come back to this place, I would have been better off staying in Manhattan.
Excellent Service. Food had both good and bad points. Server offered special bottle of wine and created a price for it, which when checked with market rate was normal 100% + mark up from retail and not any real deal. Despite this, wine was excellent and we enjoyed, just would prefer a less shady sell. Pastas were done well and cooked with skill. Appetizers were disappointing as melon was note ripe. Creme brûlée had a chewy texture, and not the crisp shell that makes it so appealing.
I cannot say enough about this excellent restaurant. The staff, especially our server, were outstanding. I don't usually order "specialty Cocktails," but I am so glad I made an exception and did so in this case! The selection, food, service, everything top notch. Can't wait to go back!
Bright and noisy. Cocktails overly sweet and unrefined. Failed to clear our table before each new round of dishes. Didn't keep track of who ordered what. Very expensive. The steak part of the Romeo & Giulietta was however a good medium rare. The lobster was over cooked. Felt like a school cafeteria.
I've lived in Brooklyn Heights for 20 years and always wanted to try this place. Really enjoyed our meal, everyone was happy with their choices. Excellent wine list as well. Very "old school" with professional waiters, and classy environment. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars across the board is that we felt very rushed. It felt incongruous to the rest of the dining experience.
Fantastic baked clams. The orecchiette was terrible. Was supposed to have broccoli rabe and had sautéed spinach instead. Pretty sure it was supposed to have a chicken sausage, although I can't recall the menu. The spinach was very bitter. Great service. Clean restaurant. I would maybe be willing to try again. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal. Considering I was paying $150 for a lunch for four, I wasn't exactly pleased.
Extremely loud techno music and yelling will pour from the second-floor fluorescent window on Court across the street (and we dined until 9pm on a Sunday evening) from a bright 'yoga dance' studio across the street. Food was beautiful. Will not return due to noisy and (quite) obnoxious business neighbors. Could barely hear ourselves think let alone dine together peacefully.
I came here with my husband, sister and brother in-law on a Saturday night. We were looking for a place to go in Park Slope and had passed by many times so we figured we'd give it a try. There were mixed reviews on Yelp, but we ended up having a fabulous time. The service was above and beyond. Our waiter was extremely attentive and made sure our every need was accommodated. The food was delicious, but definitely had old-school traditional Italian vibes. If you are looking for a hot spot with tiny portions and molecular gastronomy, this place is not for you. I'm sure we'll be back!
