Great italian food and wonderful attentive staff, service was efficient and enjoyable. Would highly recommend :)
The food was excellent with plenty of choice also staff were friendly, efficient & helpful
Lovely restaurant, excellent food, very friendly efficient staff.
Quite regulars to Marcos in Kegworth as live in the village, But this time we was highly disappointed! We had booked a table for 17.15pm on a saturday was greeted by a very pleasant chap and shown to our table.
But from there it went down hill the general service from the was extremely poor left waiting for long time order food, no drinks or cocktail menu given and was given a short answer when asked for one.
Food its self was excellent except for desserts. we had to ask all the time for drinks and then ask where they were when had ordered them.
Starters and mains empty plates took forever to get cleared. Finally when got desserts one was a Sundae but it must of been in in the freezer for weeks as was frozen solid! Are they meant to be soft ice creams and sauces and soft fresh cream??? nope all Frozen
When it came to pay we asked for the bill and was treated like a criminal, Because we are regulars we got vouchers when they were on offer and we produced to voucher they did not believe it was real we had to get emails and and prove it and email the hotel too!!
We were advised that tonight was a let down was because of trainee staff, The staff in my opinion need training on week days and need to buddy up with staff not just pointed at go do this go do that!! and not on a saturday night!!
Excellent experience at Marco Pierre White Kegworth. The staff were especially impressive. Very attentive, professional, friendly and welcoming. The food was also excellent. The usual high standard you' expect from a MPW restaurant.
I was fortunate enough to have a Black Friday Gift Voucher so the value was exceptional, otherwise, prices are certainly on the more expensive side.
I would definitely recommend and will certainly be back again soon.
Though it was a little expensive but food was lovely.
Went for husbands birthday, which was nice as only live round the corner,
Starter inedible. Main course had to be returned as 2 salt mills on table and one clearly identified with an "s" on top, so assumed the other was pepper but that also was salt so was inedible.
Expectations were high, but not really met. Menu, service and food were fine, but nothing at all special.
The food was bland, didn't taste great at all. I certainly wouldn't go back and most definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Save your money and go to Nandos.
Very lovely restaurant. Slightly on the expensive side but lovely staff and nice food. Would eat there again. They also had a band playing whilst we ate which was nice.
First course soup but not what it said on the menu. Suppose to be minestrone but told it was tomato after we had decided to have it. The most disappointing thing was the main course. If we had been in a pub probably except able but in a Marco Pierre White restaurant no where near.
Paste tubes with a meagre amount of ragu sauce. And Spaghetti with a little flavouring. Thought we had been served a ready meal. Glad we only paid half price.
But with that said it still wasn’t worth the money.
Had a Marco Pierre White in a cruise ship and that was in a different league.
Poor choice perfect if you’re a vegan or vegetarian waist of money
The food and restaurant were fine although it was disappointing that the chocolate truffle dessert was not available. However, the greeting we received from the restaurant manager on arrival was poor and aggressive in nature. We arrived at the front desk and he asked us to wait and then checked who I was before saying “have you got something for me?”. I didn’t know what he was talking about and so he asked the same question again louder. I eventually deduced that he was talking about the pre purchased food voucher we were using for the booking and explained that I had the receipt on my phone. The manager told me to email this to him at “info” so again we had to ask him to clarify what he meant. Eventually I sent him screen shots of the receipt and we were shown to our table.
Can't fault the staff. Polite and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was really good and cooked to perfection.
If you want a venue for an anniversary meal or just a quiet meal for two then I would recommend this place based on our experience. We will certainly be coming back.
I would recommend however for us would prefer real authentic delicate fresh Italian , this is just what I call American Italian , pile it on kind of Italian but do realise it’s what you call the restaurant New York Italian and its aim at certain market ..... we came three years ago and the steak was amazing so if go again will have the steak as this time went for something else and it was just ok
Booked table for four. Been a number of times before but number of staff changes and not as welcoming. Felt Male waiters a bit abrupt especially when we didn't order alcohol. Thr girl waitresses were lovely. Food was very good although my son and daughter in law thought the sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce was more like chocolate cake. Don't know how long a table is booked for each reservation we didn't even have starter but we felt the table was being cleared of coffee cups and napkins as soon as we put them down . When we got up to leave the manager went to a group of 4 waiting in bar and said that their table was almost ready (ours). We weren't happy with the bill, I always leave a tip but was surprised to see a 10% service charge had been automatically added to bill. I understood it was discretionary unless part of big group. I queried it with restaurant manager who kept asking if I wanted card machine to pay. He snatched bill off table and screwed it up. He did bring revised one but again asked if I wanted card machine, obviously wanted table. I was embarrassed that the connection failed twice and I had to enter pin number 3 times which brought funny looks from other diners as it looked like I was trying to pay with dodgy card. Then to end the evening as we passed through reception to leave the waiter who took our order came running after me shouting asking if I wanted my bill and to pay.. I said I'd already paid and he said no its was his section and he hadn't given me my bill. I explained about paying manager and the card machine failing to connect and after a while he returned to restaurant. Again I was really embarrassed as there was staff on reception and other guests waiting. So all in all not the best evening which is a shame as my son had his wedding reception at hotel and we like to go there as it holds special memories. But probably won't return.
Booked a table for 4, initially wanted a table for 7 people to go with friends but your online booking said it wasn’t available. However, For the whole duration of our meal the restaurant was less than half full!!!! Our friends could of easily of been accommodated very frustrating!
Food was lovely, tasty and well presented.
Service was just ok. Took ages for someone to take a food order, the table next to us came in 15 mins after us but had their food order taken before us! No staff looking, nobody asked if we wanted any sauces etc when they brought our meals, which we did, but they rushed off so quickly and then never looked over to see if we was ok, I had to try and get someone’s attention for ages. When we did eventually get to ask for mayo and tomato sauce it took a good 10 minutes to come by which time we’d eaten most of our dinner. Not the level of service you expect at this type of restaurant.
Salted caramel profiteroles were amazing, could possibly do with a bit of cream or ice cream to finish them off though!
Went as part of 50% off January deal which made it great value. If I’d paid full price with the service we got I would be extremely disappointed.
Excellent ambiance with live singers
Food good quality
Waiters and waitress ok but was charged for other people’s drinks and was given then bill when we had not even orders more drink or desserts
First visit, on a groupon voucher, all staff very friendly and efficient, we chose a starter and main, then shared a dessert, finished off with a coffee.
Wife is a meat eater and I’m a vegetarian, all well catered for.
Will be returning.
Usually we rate Marco’s with full marks all round and again I must report the food served and service time from order placed was excellent.
The problem on this occasion was the time taken from arrival to taking our order...
After waiting in the restaurant lobby and again at the main hotel lobby as no staff were on hand at either we were eventually seated with menus at a nice table, we then waited a totally unacceptable length of time for someone to come and take our order.
I believe we were the first to be seated in the main restaurant although also present were a couple of large party’s elsewhere and people drinking in Marcos bar area but we could not find anyone to assist.
When eventually we did get approached for our order, the young lady, although polite, offered no explanation nor apology, it seemed as though she was none the wiser of our wait.
After the order was taken the turnaround to prepare and serve the food was excellent, the food itself was excellent and the service received from order was excellent, it was literally just the wait that kind of ruined what was anticipated as a great first experience for my parents who I’d invited.
From both expectation and previous experience this dining experience really disappointed, even though I would chalk this down as a one off and still dine here myself I wouldn’t invite a guest again until I knew I wouldn’t be left embarrassed in this way again. Just a shame really for my parents but I would give it another chance..
Food was good but nothing special staff were really good and entertainment was good . Was disappointed to order around a dozen G&Ts and never got one served in a gin glass even after requesting one Was told they were being washed and we would get them next time .
Menu so limited seems like bread is the most important ingredient . Felt the salad was rubbish bread chunks no protein in it just to many tomatoes and capers . Bruschetta wasn’t nice at all . Pizza ok but nothing on the menu that had any meat in it and felt I would have got better at Wetherspoons for the same price !!! Been to Nottingham grill restaurant and was much more impressed . Won’t be going to Kegworth again .
Its not too bad for a festive menu.
But then again I really would expect with a preorder & full payment that the food would be fresh and actually pretty much spot on.
it’s a real shame it wasn’t.
Sooo, They buried the roast parsnips under the boiled veg. So we’re then really soggy!
They served roast potatoes that were clearly not home cooked (Aunt Bessie anyone?) & The turkey? Hmm 🤔 well again definitely not fresh or enjoyable.
On the plus side - The mushroom soup was excellent but as desserts go, the apple crumble was a disaster for me personally as it incorporated an immense amount of cinnamon which personally I would never order had I known. It looked fab though. And had high fives from those that ate it.
Post note - Lovely decor 👊
Been visiting here for a while now and can happily say never been disappointed.
The food in my opinion has been superb everytime. The staff are friendly and do interact with you instead of taking your order and checking if everything is ok with your meal.
We have been to a few Marco's restaurants now and would say this is possibly our favourite, not only due to the staff but the restaurant layout as it feels spacious and the lighting is better compared to other restaurants I have visited.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We will be visiting again soon
Birthday celebration. Live music added to the overall excellent service.
The food was very disappointing and at a high cost. Unfortunately the man at the table next to us also thought it was ok to loudly belch.
The food was very good, as usual. We asked for a bottle of house red and the senior waiter asked us what type of wine we would like and suggested some. We chose the Malbec but after it was brought to the table and opened we discovered that it wasn’t a “house” wine. At £30 per bottle it wasn’t what we were expecting, but the wine was very good. I would expect a restaurant of this standing to have someone in charge who understood a request for a more reasonably priced wine.
The most important thing about this restaurant is the food. There is a really good choice and it was really tasty and good value for money.
Service was excellent. Great wine choice.
Food very nicely cooked and presented
One meal sent back, overpriced for a mediocre meal
The food is well prepared but we felt it should have been clear that it was a completely vegetarian menu and that the starter options were so limited! Is only good value if you don’t eat protein!
Visited the restaurant for our wedding anniversary. Greeted by friendly staff and had same friendly service throughout the evening. Food was lovely and all courses were served very quickly. Great atmosphere with live music. Will definitely be returning.
Excellent service, fantastic food, deffo recommend
Not a great deal of care taken over presentation of food. Tardy service. Overpriced.
Really sorry to be writing this but we were disappointed. 6 of us all friends decided to dine after thoroughly enjoying the Houdini escape room..
I booked both the experience and the table online quite a few weeks ago.
On arrival at the restaurant we were told our booking had been missed so we were in the private room (that I understands costs quite a bit more) so was a nice ‘upgrade’ or so we thought, however we were left for ages, had to go to the bar to order our drinks and had to ask for our order to be taken. Our table was at 7.30 and all only having one course were still eating at 9 as we waited so long for the food.
Two different steaks were ordered, a sirloin and a fillet and the waitress arrived and said sirloin so was put in front of my friend, he started to eat and when the second steak arrived we realised the waitress had been wrong and our friend was now tucking into my other half’s ‘more expensive, different cooked’ fillet! Plus the ‘real’ sirloin was not cooked right.
My pasta was ok but what could go wrong with spaghetti covered in pesto sauce which I’m sure was out of a jar and not fresh!
The pizza ordered was actually inedible- aneamic, hard on the outside, soggy in the middle and hardly had any Parma ham plus had half a bag of rocket and huge thick slices of ‘not that fresh’ tomatoes dumped on top, it was so disgusting that rightly so my friend didn’t eat it and wasn’t going to pay for it.
One steak was ordered with pepper sauce (tiny jug for £3.50) the other with blue, both came out the same!
No one came to talk to us or take more drinks orders.
I was told it’s always busy Fridays and Saturdays so if the case then where were the staff? As we didnt get any great customer service at all.
For the price of the meals and the fact it’s an Italian steak house for the steaks to be wrong and the pizza to be horrendous we unfortunately will not be visiting again.
We are Kegworth locals do such a shame as it’s our local restaurant.
The food was horrible. Wasted our money. Huge disappointment.
Don’t let the big brand name fool you. This restaurant offers grumpy service, mediocre food and an uncomfortable atmosphere. Plus, it’s overpriced.
Please avoid this restaurant. There are plenty of good pubs etc nearby. Don’t take a risk on Marco Pierre White’s vanity project.
No ambiance whatsoever. Was given a voucher as a gift for an afternoon tea. Completely unremarkable. Totally unforgettable. I’ve had the experience of 3 afternoon teas in the last 3 months for various celebrations, this one comes bottom of the list by far. Needs a re-vamp to make it uniquely New York Italian. Marco Pierre White by name only.
The restaurant was very quiet although we were not offered drinks until we chose our meal. It was expensive especially the drinks. All food was bought out together which was good. Staff need to smile a bit more. Food was tasty and cooked well slightly small portions though. Yes I would revisit.
A good meal & visit however not quite as good as usual, everything seemed a little rushed and hectic especially considering the restaurant was not too busy.
Everything except the food service time that is as although our order was taken swiftly the service was noticeably slower than normally received. Drinks were good, just the wait on the food a little slow for what was ordered.
