Marché Moderne Ratings and Reviews
We love great food and creative cuisine and Marche Moderne has it all. My wife and I shared the steak tartare American style (with sunny side up egg)...the best ever. Also shared a pear based salad special...great salad with wonderful dressing. We also shared the Re-Visited" Braised Veal & Lobster Blanquette ...another creative and outstanding dish. Even though we were full we felt that we had to at least sample one of the desserts because everything had been so good. We had the apple tart with whipped and sea salted ice cream...another yum. Added to this was excellent service , which was the perfect blend of friendly, attentive and efficient. We never felt rushed and the timing of our service was spot on. We also enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the general up vibe the place has.
I have eaten at the Marche Moderne at South Coast Plaza. I felt it was intimate, with personal attention and excellent cuisine.
This larger restaurant does not duplicate that environment.
The food was very good, but my stew with veal and lobster was only mediocre in my opinion.
The sauce needed more flavor, and waitress should have told me it is cream based; I do not like cream based dishes.
Everything else was excelleny, including drinks( the elderberry was fantastic) salads, breads, deserts, service, and the waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and wines.
Thank you for reading my notes.
We eagerly awaited the opening of Marche Moderne in its new Crystal Cove location and it did not disappoint. The food was superb and beautifully presented. The Key Lime Baked Alaska was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and the perfect ending to a memorable meal.
Just exemplary! If you are looking for a high end, incredible food, excellent service - this is your place.
The Spanish octopus salad is simply the best I've had - even when in Spain!! The tuna tartar was phenomenal.
As an entree I had the rabbit -wonderful
The corkage fee is steep - $35/bottle. But if you are taking an amazing bottle, its worth it.
Dinner for 4 with 4 bottles of wine we brought was approx $440. Worth every penny!! Cant wait to go back!!!
A first rate experience start to finish. Terrific menu, very gourmet. Expensive, but not brutal. Last, but far from least, was the service. Our server was bright, cheerful, helpful, knowledgeable and very attentive without being the slightest bit pushy or intrusive. I wish I could remember her name so that I could ask for one of her tables next time (and there will be a next time).
Not like the So Coast Plaza at all. Noisy, ambiance lacking. Friendly personnel. Limited wine by the glass selection (reds). Wife ordered pork dish and it is very much like a panfried piece. Short ribs survived move and are outstanding. Different crowd from Costa Mesa. Good luck.
We were seated at a table stuck in the corner
( odd spot for table)
Because the table was out of the flow of service was slow .. food just warm
Both entrees were served at the same time but my husband ordered the Dover sole so my fish was not hot to start and I waited for server to debone his sole and when I began to eat my fish it was barely warm
They were kind to give us a pretty dessert for anniversary
Not going to run back
We are so glad Marche has move to Crystal Court!! We had an amazing dinner and the service, ambiance, and of course the food was the best! So many good food choices on the menu- we will be coming monthly!! The best dinner in South Orange County and we don't have to go to South Coast Plaza!!!
Simply spectacular, from greeting to departure and every single moment in between. We enjoyed a special table, corner booth for a party of four, and ordered sort of eclectically, cocktails with a random assortment of delicious charcuterie, oysters, gravalax, then lovely wine with various small plates, and a couple of entrees for the bigger eaters. Oh yes and desserts! All expertly and unobtrusively brought to us by our server Oscar, such an elegant host, we'll be asking for him every time we return... and we will return... if we can get another reservation! Thanks for a fabulous evening.
We were a party of 4, there for a birthday celebration. Server was a bit inattentive. Took a long time to get our drink order taken and didn’t hear dinner specials for at least 30 more minutes. The table next to us came in after we did and were served drinks and appetizers before our order for the same was taken. My daughter told the server we were celebrating a birthday and an extra dessert was served, in addition to those we had already ordered, and was charged to our bill.
This was my first time here and I cannot wait to come back. This new venue for the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It was my wife's 30th birthday and the occasion was perfectly celebrated with impeccable service, delicious food, amazing champagne and wine and a dessert to remember to finish. Additionally the menu is very reasonably priced. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of our check. Top notch food and service at an approachable cost.
The new Marche Moderne is a beautiful space with an open kitchen, cozy booths and a lovely patio. There was a fun and energetic vibe throughout the restaurant. We sat on the patio which was reasonably quiet. The main dining room seemed extremely noisy and would not be comfortable for a fine dining experience IMO. The service was good and attentive. The disappointment was solely on the food. It was certainly very good but it was NOT outstanding. The expectations were high for Marche Moderne's opening of this new place so the bar may have been hard to meet. The cost was over $500 for 4 with no dessert and only glasses of wine so not such great value. Always glad to pay for fine dining when it is exceptional. This unfortunately was not of that caliber this time. Maybe next time.....
Fabulous fabulous fabulous ‼️ My much anticipated wait paid off on Wednesday as I Open Tabled a coveted 6pm Rez and was seated directly in front of the GORGEOUS GOURMET KITCHEN 💕
I cannot possibly relay how exquisite the menu food and service was. But of course I already am loyal and love our Owner/Couple of Phenoms❣️ Bravo and best wishes but you don’t need them ❤️
Shopping center location with very high end cuisine beautifully presented. Really interesting and diverse menu. Waitstaff was helpful, friendly and relaxed. Room is very well done. We had one member of our party who was late - not a problem at all. Despite all of the above it was not as expensive as I might have suspected - quite good value.
It has a booth in the corner of the room should not be there. Becasue in front is a server access enter menu. So you end up looking at the waiter.
Booth should be remove
Not exactly a good for customer to sit , very small space sitting and not comfortable. Bad spot and feeling to sit at the corner. I had to ask for another table more in the open space
The only experience, I encounter since open at newport location. I have always go to the south coast location many yrs
Our evening started out rough...the hostess handling reservations was clueless...couldn't find our reservation, spelled our name wrong multiple times looking for the reservation and pretty much indicated that we were at fault and there was nothing she could do. After we resolved that issue she seated us at a table opposite of what we asked for. (Hmmm...is there a reason we made our reservation 2 months in advance only to find there were no tables available??)
Suffice to say, after we were seated a lovely Host came over and moved us to a much better table and we had a marvelous meal with great service. Oysters, salads, the specials of Sole & Veal were all superb!
We will definitely return, but we will make sure to call the day of to confirm our reservation!
My friend and I were regulars when Marche Moderne was in the South Coast Shopping center. We have been looking forward to going to their new location. We were not disappointed. The new location is beautiful and the menu is just as creaive and the food was great!
