The food was ‘very French’ and excellent. The staff was great. But my one pet peeves is being seated in the bar area. I made a reservation on Opentable. I would assume that means a table in the dining area, not the bar. But if that’s not the case, I will not be going back - no matter how good the service and food are.

The hostess was very nice when I needed to add a person to our group and move the reservation up 15 minutes. Our group had 3 different salads and each was fab. We all loved our entrees. As my husband put it , many fancy places add dabs of things on your plate, but here each component on the plate add taste and complexity to the meal.

This place was good. Very good. But it doesn't meet Pascal's -- which has closed. We love Pascal's. Also -- how can a great French restaurant make such terrible french fries (with the delicious moules frite)? French restaurant french fries should be spectacular (like at Pascal's)! Where are the duck fat fries, the crispy frites, the delectable flavorful French fries?

Table was the worst table we have experience in OC in the last 10 years.The menu yes it is French awful.
Very European feel of a restaurant, Waiters not intrusive, you have time to order and your drinks and food and feel not pushed through the whole dining experience within 45 minutes. We had the hamachi and the duck liver and both were to die for. As main courses we took the steak tartare American ( would take next time Francais) - this was not the best option and we had the mussels who were really tasty. Because of the many food, we would rather have two smaller items as starters and maybe share a main the next time. Overall, this is going to be my new favourite restaurant in the OC.

We were very impressed with the food and service both. Our server was very knowledgeable. The dessert was one of our favorite dishes but all were exceptional.

Consistently excellent from valet to host/hostess to the professional, knowledgeable and friendly servers, excellent food preparation and beautiful plating to their classy/comfortable decor. The menu selections are creative and ... simply perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Suggestion: Request a corner booth and watch the sun set over the Pacific as you enjoy dinner.
Fantastic experience. Food was exceptional, service was great. Best experience in quite a while. Duck liver mousse was great. Bone marrow was amazing as was the salmon and short ribs. Great night out.
Excellent meal. Liked the darker lighting better in the bar area than in the main dining room, where it is brighter. Excellent dinner, with an incredible bone marrow in a mop-up-with-bread cognac reduction sauce, superb venison is a rhubarb red wine reduction, delicious fresh oysters, scallops, steak. Attentive and personable service. Save on valet parking by parking your own car and walking; the walk will do you good since the meal definitely is not low calorie!
Great dining experience... one of our top 10! Highly recommend if you enjoy food and are looking for a real culinary experience.

As always, lovely presentation, superb wait staff and amazing food....our guest loved it so much, she is making plans to hold a birthday brunch for her friend at this exquisite venue.
We had not been to Marche Moderne in about a year but used to go there many times when it was in South Coast. Now it is on the coast and not as easy to get to. We had a lovely corner booth, as requested and both food and service were very good. The only item that was not good was Amelia's chopped salad, which I sent back. It seemed as if this salad was sitting around a long time and was mushy. Server bought a new one and it was far better. The duck confit, the mussels and frites, the hamachi, all very good and portion sizes were great. We also had the Napoleon for dessert and we love that. The only negative is the corkage fee -- $35. which is steep.

We had a wonderful meal and experience as always! The service is outstanding and friendly, the food is consistently top notch.
Excellent restaurant, ambiance and service. We both ordered Rack of Lamb medium rare and both were very rare, almost raw. My wife sent hers back. The food is very good but the portions are too small.
It was really spectacular. Each dish was like a beautifully wrapped gift!

Simply the best. It was so good that we went in the following night for dinner again. Larissa remembered us from the night before and seated us immediately although we had no reservations and it was a very busy Friday night. Service was excellent. Food was exquisite ...the best I had in a while. Will definitely be back on my next visit to California.
Monday fixed dinner is one of our favorite menus to try. Their food is always great!! We are looking forward to visit another Monday for surprise‼️

Long time customer, since South Coast Plaza Location, the food is ALWAYS incredible and fresh. Much like a fine wine, Marche gets better and more amazing with every year that goes by. Keep up the great Food, Ambience and service.
Marche Moderne is a great restaurant. Had dinner and brunch there while in CA. Very pleased!
The hostess tried to seat us at a table (#6) at the end of a hallway stuck in a corner. I read about this table from Yelp reviews so we we refused it. We then were seated a a nice booth in the main dining room. We had the charcuterie board and the roasted bone marrow appetizers. The charcuterie had a nice selection of meats that were good. The roasted bone marrow was not hot and was drenched in a red wine reduction sauce that was overly salty. Sent it back. We had Braised Short Ribs and Filet “Steak Frites au Poivre” for mains. The Braised Short Ribs were hot but were also covered in the same salty red wine reduction sauce that was on the bone marrow. The steak was properly cooked to “medium” and had good flavor. The “frites” were not crisp and were mushy inside. They looked more like frozen fries vs. “homemade”. Sent them back. A new batch were delivered and they too were the same. At the end of our main courses the check was delivered even though I didn’t asked for it. We were not given a desert menu or asked if we wanted coffee or after dinner drinks. Lastly, don’t be surprised if menu items listed on their web site aren’t offered or available in the restaurant. I understand that some things are seasonal, But to not have some of the classic French dishes on the menu is very disappointing. They missed mark this night on a number of levels. We will not return.
Wow! Everything was so good! We had salad, tuna appetizer, pork belly, salmon and seabass for dinner. Even the desserts were delicious! Can't wait to come back!
