About Marche

Marche, located in Eugene, Oregon, opened in August 1998. The restaurant, which seats 80 guests, has an exhibition kitchen featuring a beautiful wood-fired oven. There is also a stylish bar and a large outdoor dining area, covered with awnings and umbrellas and surrounded by a garden of herbs and edible flowers. Marche takes its name from the French word for market – a word that describes our location in the bustling 5th street Market and more importantly, our philosophy of cooking. The menu is based on the foods one would find at a farmer’s market: fresh, seasonal, and regional. Marche is committed to using only those ingredients that are at their best, so our menu evolves as we move through the seasons of the year. Marche also believes in using the highest quality and most healthful ingredients available and to that end use organic, free range, and chemical free products. The culinary technique is French-based: intensely flavored and simply but beautifully presented.

The food and service were both outstanding, as always. The food offerings are creative and unique. The use of herbs and spices is well balanced and skillful. There is a tendency in this area to smother everything in garlic. Marche does not make this mistake. Thanks for another thoroughly pleasant dining celebration!

The food was good. About Equal to what you would get from Cafe Soriah or King Estate Winery. Nothing spectacular. The service was on the same par. Friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Unfortunately my pork chop was almost half fat, fat meat.. very unfortunate.. Price wise, this restaurant was not equal to the quality indicative of the price of the meal. This would be a restaurant I might recommend to friends coming into town for sessional dinning.

My go-to restaurant when I visit Eugene. Always good food and nice ambiance. Menu can be somewhat limited but we can always find something interesting. Check out the bar menu as well. A little pricey but worth it especially in a city like Eugene where higher end options are very limited.

Nice place. Excellent food and large portions. Wait staff were very knowledgeable & friendly. Nice ambiance in a good location. Service was a little slow after our entrees were finished, but except for getting the bill, they were very attentive.

We were seated immediately upon arrival (we had reservations) and enjoyed a lovely table. Sean was our server and he was outstanding!! We give him 10 stars. Also, he was mentoring a new server (female), sorry I don’t remember her name; however, she was excellent as well. Food was delicious and served in a timely manner. Good job and keep up the fantastic work! Kudos!!!

Four of the Five of us had a good meal. The cod was over poached, almost watery and served on way too much greens that had too much vinegar used to season them.............. that was disappointing as we usually enjoy Marche.

Probably the fanciest French restaurant in Lane County. I'm glad we were able to experience it and will go again. The waitress was sweet and the food was unique and fun like on TV.

Ive gone to Marche for years, and this was probably the best meal I’ve had there (the others being great-this was outstanding). Also, Sean the server was remarkable-personable, great recommendations, a special man. Kudos to Marche! And Sean!

One of the better restaurants in Eugene. Normally excellent food with fresh ingredients. However, the food this time was overly seasoned. The steak would have been better without a sauce. The trout salad had too much creme and the pickled onions were over powering. The gnocchi was not traditional. It was served in a very small casserole with 3 huge dumplings that were not light like the usual gnocchi recipes. The mussels were large and fresh, but the broth was overpowering with liqueur. A basic wine and garlic with butter would have been better.

There is nobody else in Eugene that gets food like Stephanie. We had breakfast and two lunches theee in 26 hours and I only wish we had dinner there too. Nothing at Marche is overwrought the bread/butter at breakfast was sublime as was the cappuccino ‘s only had to send the one at the 2nd breakfast back as the lack of foam rendered it a latte. The soup the burger the fries the fruit plate all very good. If I am ever back I will only eat there.

Lovely restaurant with waitstaff that is knowledgeable of menu and wines. Had the wild boar ragu and gnocchi. The gnocchi was not the standard potato pillows (which I do love) and the waiter told me in advance. They were lovely--a bit different but still gnocchi. Very well seasoned and worked well with the boar ragu. Waiter suggested two different reds and allowed me to taste both. While it is a 'white tablecloth' restaurant, it is not stuffy or overpriced. It was just the kind of dinning experience one wants and expects from this level of restaurant. When I am back in Eugene, I will definitely eat there again.

Attended for a special occasion, but there were a couple of instances of impoliteness on the part of a person who might have been the manager and the waiter, which put a damper on the group’s enjoyment. Some members of the group were quite offended.

The woman who greeted us at the door and seated us was fantastic.

I had the squid ink spaghetti (which I wouldn't recommend unless you want to tell your friends that you ate squid ink spaghetti), Oysters on the half shell (which were delicious & highly recommended). My wife had the Gnocchi in Wild Boar sauce, a salad & some kind of dessert & she enjoyed everything. We only eat in the dining room on special occasions otherwise we usually just sit in the bar. The wait staff are friendly & polite & the chefs are professional & obviously take pride in their work. Also the ambiance is worth mentioning - cozy with dark wood paneling, a big open kitchen & fleur de lis tile in the bar make you feel like you ducked in off the "rue" in Paris. :) Definitely Marche is on our short-list of our favorite places to eat in Eugene!

Outstanding food and service. We had fried chicken livers with jalapeño jam and a steamed mussel salad. The chicken and pork chop (perhaps the best ever served us) were perfectly roasted on a wood fire, as were the carrot side. An apple-hazelnut crisp with caramel ice cream wrapped it up. We had a lively conversation with our waiter about the source and treatment of the pork (hazelnut-fed hogs), and all the staff was attentive and warmly welcoming. We're from the Olympic Peninsula, but will hope to return some day for another wonderful dining experience.

A quick trip to Eugene for "a dinner and a show" wouldn't be complete without the dinner being Marche`. From the warm greeting at the door to the attentive service at our table the staff there excels. Our drinks were delicious, the fresh oysters sublime and our meal was prepared perfectly and delicious. Always a special occasion to dine at Marche`. See you next time!

The ambiance was lovely and the service was good aside from a the waiter that seemed very rushed and frenetic.

The food was less than par for what one would expect at a ‘fine-dining’ restaurant. The fish was tough, over cooked and obviously thawed after being frozen and the pork had no flavor.

Again, great venue and very kind and polite service, but certainly no worth spending $150.00 for 2 people for a special occasion.

Efficient and attentive service and menu that offers a variety of options to satisfy just about any taste. The wine list was extensive, with many old world options. The ambience was that of a small French bistro. Our table was close to the bar (Le Bar) which made it a tad noisy but otherwise was quaint and enjoyable.

Everything about Marche was excellent.
There was a little hiccup regarding the doneness of my lamb. After a few more minutes on the grill, it was perfect. Excellent seasoning. I would highly recommend the charcuterie plate.

Excellent service!!!

My five star rating overall is a shade high. Four point five to four point seven five is more accurate in my opinion. What was scrumptious? Oysters on the half-shell, a unique preparation of steamed clams and mussels, roast salmon served on a bed of grilled vegetables and a grilled pork chop done to perfection served on creamy polenta. Less than wonderful? Deep fried fresh anchovies (cooked to a smithereen) and a cheese board that was just plain skimpy (lovely cheeses but hardly one bite of each). As for beverages, I had a superbly prepared Nolets martini and a truly exceptional Oregon Pinot Noir recommended by our waiter. It was from a vineyard I did not know so I had to rely on the waiter's word. He was spot on. The waiter read us very well and knew the menu inside and out and was thus able to facilitate a lovely evening.

I had been waiting to find the right group to try this restaurant because it is a little pricy, so worth the wait. The whole table ordered the beef tenderloin with roasted marrow bone...so delicious!! Everything about the menu is perfect. They offer signature dishes but not a lot of filler items. Great place with great food.

While staying at the Inn at 5th, I had three meals there, all were excellent. The atmosphere is upscale with super service. I took my date there for dinner and had the grilled salmon--it was really nicely done. We had a great time with good conversation--the noise level was just about right for visiting. In the morning I showed up for breakfast and had the Polenta & Egg braised summer vegetables, slow cooked egg, creamy polenta & baguette toast. I added a fruit dish and Americano. Everything was perfect--a delightful way to end a one night stay.
