Marche, located in Eugene, Oregon, opened in August 1998. The restaurant, which seats 80 guests, has an exhibition kitchen featuring a beautiful wood-fired oven. There is also a stylish bar and a large outdoor dining area, covered with awnings and umbrellas and surrounded by a garden of herbs and edible flowers. Marche takes its name from the French word for market – a word that describes our location in the bustling 5th street Market and more importantly, our philosophy of cooking. The menu is based on the foods one would find at a farmer’s market: fresh, seasonal, and regional. Marche is committed to using only those ingredients that are at their best, so our menu evolves as we move through the seasons of the year. Marche also believes in using the highest quality and most healthful ingredients available and to that end use organic, free range, and chemical free products. The culinary technique is French-based: intensely flavored and simply but beautifully presented.

Marche Ratings and Reviews
The service was good, as it always has been. The food, for about the second or third time, was mediocre to poor - we think the chefs have problems with cooking and food preparation. We've been coming to the Marche every sunday for brunch for the past several months, but probably no more because of what we think is sub-standard food.
We had not been to Marche for some time as frustrated by small salads and meals for the price. We decided to retry Marche last month and were pleased that the salads and portions were bigger and tasted great.
Recently went for lunch and disappointed with the vegetarian quinoa dish. Had it twice previously and excellent. Then this last time ,not as good. Some veggies black and inedible (Tomatoes),while others undercooked.
Delightful restaurant with great food and impeccable service. We stay at the Inn on 5th every January and always make a point to dine next door at Marche. It’s one of our favorite treats of the holiday season when we are in Eugene. Our meal was delicious and our waitress was a delight. Looking forward to our next visit.
We also had breakfast room service the next day - provided by Marche. It too, was excellent. I however was surprised and disappointed when I requested a bowl of mixed berries for breakfast and was informed they were not offered on the Marche menu. In Oregon? The fresh berry Capitol of the world? Very odd.
We went here for Sunday brunch and were pretty disappointed. I had made a reservation with Open Table, we were seated at a very small table pushed up against a window. It was several minutes before we saw anyone, then finally someone came by with water. When our waiter arrived he appeared a bit put out like he had been forced to wait on us and wasn't really happy about it. After he brought our food we never saw him again,The coffee was served in about a 4 oz cup, we went through our entire meal before we could find someone to ask for a refill. The food was fine, nothing remarkable. I ordered the eggs benedict - that's all you get - no potatoes, no fruit. There are many better options in Eugene, I will not return.
From the start service was spot on. Lovely relaxed but upscale vibe. Wait person exceptional. It was only me but I was never made to feel weird. Never rushed, was given good table. Oysters the best I’ve ever had. Foie Gra amazing...Duck not so much. It was raw and I couldn’t slice it. I brought it to their attention they replaced but should have offered a comp of something. All in all almost a 5 for me but a 4 for main dish
I had cauliflower soup(special) and duck for my entree. Both were excellent; the winter vegetables with the duck were very tasty. My husband had lasagna and found it to have little flavor - disappointing. He wasn't making good choices, apparently, as his chocolate gateaux was on the dry side.
Wait staff friendly and attentive.
Our party of 7 was accommodated in a large but cozy booth in the bar area. The drinks and appetizers were outstanding and our entrees only more so. The waiter always anticipated our next request. My 89 year old mother had a fabulous time. Marche is always the first restaurant I come to when visiting Eugene. Merci beaucoup, Marche!
Typically outstanding food and reliable service. The first part of our meal, the server was attentive and helpful but after the entrée arrived he was non-existent. We then asked for a dessert menu which arrived from another table runner. Then our server finally returned (after 10 mins) only after we proactive said we were ready to order dessert. We ordered something simple (two individuals ordered a single scoop of chocolate ice cream along and one person had the apple crisp) thinking it would be fast/easy. At the 15-minute mark of waiting, we inquired about our desserts and the server was visibly defensive and replied "There were several orders of oysters from other tables that needed to be served. It looks like your dessert is ready now." Really? We always get better service on the Bistro side of the house so I guess we will skip the regular dining room in the future -- too bad.
Great food and service...Menu changes with the seasons...Choice between full menu and bar menu...Nice, small outdoor patio dining in summer and when weather is warm & dry. Very good wine steward for advice. We probably dine at Marche once a month so we get to have their seasonal menus and look forward to the new items. Excellent mussels with seasonally changing "sauce". Highly recommend Marche.
I have a very sensitive palette and desire mouth melting dishes. We decided to choose the grilled lamb Trio and the chicken paillard for our main courses; and I chose the grilled brussel sprout salad before dinner. These choices were based on inquiring what the waitress suggested as well as myself being gluten and dairy intolerable. I must say each dish was delectable, the chef prepared these dishes beautifully and they tasted incredible. I would strongly recommend this restaurant and those dishes for a very flavorful but not over seasoned dining experience.
As above, the service was excellent, and we had a back room all to ourselves which was awesome, as the restaurant is a bit noisy. The food was good, but not great. The appetizers we selected were interesting in that they were a bit different, but I didn't think tasted that great. However, other diners in our group really loved their entrees and the appetizers. I also didn't think the wine by the glass selection was that great. I like a more minerally white, which I didn't find. I had the black cod entree, the ones that loved their entrees had lasagne, squid ink pasta, and lamb dishes. Also one of the guests ordered the foi gras for her dinner entree!
I always enjoy coming to Marche...it is a super meeting place and reliable for decent food and lovely atmosphere....this past experience was not my favorite for the Gyros sandwich...did not like the chunky lamb sausage with minimal yogurt sauce and the red spicy sauce too much with spicy sausage....a nice salad accompanied with the sandwich would have been preferable over the French fries....and I do think it was overpriced as was the ginger beer. You ask for my remarks and this what I have to offer.....poor choice for lunch...The bread was too heavy for the sandwich too...in my opinion.
The food and service were both outstanding, as always. The food offerings are creative and unique. The use of herbs and spices is well balanced and skillful. There is a tendency in this area to smother everything in garlic. Marche does not make this mistake. Thanks for another thoroughly pleasant dining celebration!
The food was good. About Equal to what you would get from Cafe Soriah or King Estate Winery. Nothing spectacular. The service was on the same par. Friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Unfortunately my pork chop was almost half fat, fat meat.. very unfortunate.. Price wise, this restaurant was not equal to the quality indicative of the price of the meal. This would be a restaurant I might recommend to friends coming into town for sessional dinning.
My go-to restaurant when I visit Eugene. Always good food and nice ambiance. Menu can be somewhat limited but we can always find something interesting. Check out the bar menu as well. A little pricey but worth it especially in a city like Eugene where higher end options are very limited.
We were seated immediately upon arrival (we had reservations) and enjoyed a lovely table. Sean was our server and he was outstanding!! We give him 10 stars. Also, he was mentoring a new server (female), sorry I don’t remember her name; however, she was excellent as well. Food was delicious and served in a timely manner. Good job and keep up the fantastic work! Kudos!!!
One of the better restaurants in Eugene. Normally excellent food with fresh ingredients. However, the food this time was overly seasoned. The steak would have been better without a sauce. The trout salad had too much creme and the pickled onions were over powering. The gnocchi was not traditional. It was served in a very small casserole with 3 huge dumplings that were not light like the usual gnocchi recipes. The mussels were large and fresh, but the broth was overpowering with liqueur. A basic wine and garlic with butter would have been better.
There is nobody else in Eugene that gets food like Stephanie. We had breakfast and two lunches theee in 26 hours and I only wish we had dinner there too. Nothing at Marche is overwrought the bread/butter at breakfast was sublime as was the cappuccino ‘s only had to send the one at the 2nd breakfast back as the lack of foam rendered it a latte. The soup the burger the fries the fruit plate all very good. If I am ever back I will only eat there.
