Marcello's :La Sirena Ratings and Reviews
We had talked about going to this restaurant for EVER. My own business has been located very near for the last 28 years. Just about one year ago we finally made the effort and have been coming at least monthly ever since. Fine dining at a fair price. Never disappointed. Always feels special and their well choreographed staff totally make us feel welcome and appreciated. Looking forward to our next dinner there soon.
I had the chicken stuffed with cheese and spinach and black truffle sauce. My friend had the pompano with almonds. Both were tasty. The Caesar salad was average. The ricotta cheesecake slice was delicious but $15 for that was a bit pricey. It would be good to be told the $$ of the specials as they seem higher than other things on the menu. The prices on the website need to be updated as they were higher at the restaurant.
My Wife & I have been coming here for years,
However, they are now giving small portions of food & overcharging for the food. We both had yellow tail snapper filet, $39 each, It was good, but only served with a few carrots & zucchini. We split a dessert, small piece of cake, barely enough for one. The owner Marcello is really overpricing everything. You can’t even bring in your own bottle of wine, I don’t even mind a corkage fee, you are forced to order a wine from his extensive, mostly unknown winery. He then marks up the bottle by at least $50 a bottle. A simple dinner for 2, with a average bottle of wine cost us $200, not including tip. I can afford to eat anywhere, we will take our business elsewhere. Thank You
I've been here a couple of times and have been absolutely impressed each visit. It's a cozy restaurant that has a warm and fun vibe. It's not quiet, which I rather enjoy because you can have a conversation without worrying about being too loud. Although the restaurant has amazing food and an upscale feel, it isn't stuffy at all. The staff is all extremely pleasant and I've never felt rushed while dining there, which usually takes about 2 hours from appetizers to desserts. Marcello comes out at the end of the night and will walk around, sit, and talk with patrons which is so nice to see, you can tell he really cares. I would definitely recommend La Sirena to anyone looking for delicious Italian food!
The food was excellent. The presentation was outstanding. The service left a little to be desired. We ordered a bottle of wine and no one came back to pour a second glass. We had to ask a server to pour before our meal was over.
We have eaten here before and always found everyone to be very attentive. This must just have been an off night.
After years of returning to Marcello's: La Sirena we are still surprised that the dining experience never lessens. Other restaurants seems to be unable to maintain consistency the way Marcello can. We usually start out with a signature Sirena salad and no matter what time of the year or day of the week, the ingredients seem fresher than anything we can find in even the best of the local markets. My wife usually orders the Scampi and when it is available I eat the chicken cattiatore which is served dark meat on the bone with a wonderful light sauce, perfectly spiced.
The serving staff is efficient, gracious, fun, and knowledgeable about what to expect in each special off-menu item.
Marcello is always in the kitchen watching over or personally preparing each meal and his wife Diane supervises the serving staff every night we have been there. La Sirena has become increasingly popular over the years and more and more flexibility is required in getting a reservation, but it's worth the wait.
Way, way, way overpriced! Meals are appetizer sized, with long Italian names, for big bucks. No frills, no extras. Many tables jammed into little space. 6 oz of wine very expensive. Desert and service was very good. Been there done that and have no reason to ever go back. Supposed to be an Italian restaurant and didn’t see anything on menu Italian that was appetizing.
This establishment is overrated.
La Sirena is my favorite restaurant when I commute from the Northeast to the southeast. The service presentation and quality are fantastic and uncompromised. No matter how busy the staff is ,they are always courteous considerate and attentive.
I can't wait to return to La Serena ASAP
Phenomenal wine list- service was good, but the list of specials were way too long to remember-unfortunately, the room is small and we were seated in the middle of the room, with little privacy for what should have been a romantic meal- but the food was spectacular(my scallops were to die for!)- and the extensive wine list and knowledgeable staff made it an otherwise perfect evening-
Disappointing. We had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. There is no space in La Sirena to wait for a table so the 30 minutes was spent squeezed into the doorway with people pushing by constantly. This treatment of customers with a confirmed reservation is inexcusable.
